A purpose-built resort so there's not a lot to see and do away from the hotels apart from the lovely cliff-side walk. The resort centre is a maze of bars and shops, mostly souvenir shops. Serious shopaholics would not be happy!
We didn't go out of our hotel at night but there seemed to be a decent selection of entertainment on at the different bars, mostly tribute acts and karaoke.
Overall it seems like a good resort for families with young children and couples who were happy with a low-key nightlife. Definitely not a place for clubbers!
Decent public transport is available to nearby attractions (Caves of Drach) and markets and one bus a day to Palma. Also there is a glass bottom boat from the main beach to other resorts as well as the usual organised excursions.

Didn't really go into the resort centre that often, but there were a number of amusements for the kids i.e. go karts, trampolines, bouncy castles, crazy golf, etc.
Similarly, there are several shops for souvenirs etc. and supermarkets as well as bars and restuarants for a drink or a meal.
The beach which was just outside our hotel was fantastic, clean and soft golden sand. The sea was clean, clear and reasonably shallow for the kids. The sunbeds are a bit of a rip off, at 10.50 euros a pair per day.
We are looking into going back to this hotel / resort in the future.

the resort of callas de majorca was overall a nice little place. however it did get a bit bland going round the same shops every night. as we had 3 children 5 and under they were quite happy to have a go on the little fair that was there but older children would probably get a bit fed up.the bus service just outside the hotel was good though-we visited cala d'or. also the glass bottom boat was a good trip to take up one of the days visiting porto christo(dont bother if you just want to see the glass bottom)you could stay on and travel back on the boat or stay at porto christo for a few hours(recommended)
the beach next to hotel america was really nice for us-a bit difficult to get down with the pushchair but not too bad- sunbeds were really expensive so next time we would buy a brolly from the shop for 20 euros and use that all week. rather than pay 10.50 everyday for 2 beds and an umbrella.
so to sum up - great hotel, but plan on going about a bit as resort could get a bit boring.

the resort seemed pretty small, but was okay....no large beach, just a small cove, but its plenty big enough for the people who visit it ( if that makes sense )..

The resort is small but has everything you need, good bars cafes and sports bars, its even got a Burger king and a couple of good beaches. If your looking for wild parties and disco`s this is not for you. If your looking for a resort thats relaxing where you can enjoy a nice evening and feel reasonable safe then this is the place for you
