The hotel itself is spotless, with beautiful grounds and smart buildings. The rooms were first class and even though we booked all inclusive - you still get an apartment which is great for your kettle and fridge etc. The gripe that we have is that we went as a couple with no children (grown up now) and this hotel is focussed on families with children - we couldnt stand to stay around during the day - too many children ruining the peace. The dining room at night is an absolute nightmare - we rushed our food down so we could get out as quickly as possible - children and babies crying and screaming, highchairs at nearly every table shows that they expect lots of small children. The entertainment at night was for children again - with them running riot everywhere!!

All inclusive that's a bit of a joke children eat 6 to 6.30 then it's all cleared away for adults so if your kids eat only beans chicken nuggets chips and so on you have to be quick. Not a very good selection

Hotel was very clean on arrival lovely gardens very well kept but the rooms let it down very musty smell not very well cleaned you have to strip your own bed to get the sheets changed. A quick wipe over a bit of a sweep and done hotel staff stick to a strict time.

The meals end at 8.30 so if you get there 8.35 you only get a cold buffet or ham and cheese buttys in a pre sealed box not very nice.

The entertainment if that's what you call it ends at 11.00 pm but you can go in the sports bar for a disco not too many in though about 10 at most. Too loud you like to have a chat on the patio a few drinks with friends and relax not to be bundled into a noisy room inside

The apartments are clean and well maintained by staff.

The only problem we found was a severe lack of pillows (only a minor complaint).

The buffet style meals are great loads for everyone (avoid the burgers of the snack menu a bit dodgy).

The staff are very helpful and easily found due to uniforms.

The location is about 10 mins walk to town centre and beach front.

Entertainment was of a good standard, kids enjoyed all the different shows. The best thing about the resort is the fantastic kids clubs which are very well run, our kids loved them.

We will be booking again for next year highly recommend for families with young children.

I would recommend this location to anyone with kids of any age. It's an all inclusive location. When you check in you're given a wristband to wear which will allow you to icecreams/beer/wine/coffee/tea/softdrinks/foods etc in the venue at no additional cost. You really can leave the wallet in the safe in your room.

The apartment that we were in had a separate bathroom with a shower over the bath and a separate shower unit and a loo. The sink is outside this room which means that you don't have to disturb anyone in order to brush your teeth etc.

The main bedroom has two single beds pushed together (no holiday venue I've been in yet has what we recognise as a double/king sized bed). The main eating/sitting area has the two additional 'guest' beds - one of which doubles as the sofa during the day the other looks like a chaise longue!!! At first we thought they had forgotten about the bedding for these beds but after removing a stretchy cover discovered the bedding underneath this.

The kitchen area is adequate - it has two cooking rings and a microwave and a sink but as all food is covered by the 'all inclusive' you really wont have much reason to eat in.

In the main restaurant it operates on a buffet selection which is plentiful and you can go up for food as many times as you like - kinda an 'all you can eat' type setup.

With the all inclusive option you get to eat once in the italian restaurant (a small section of the main restaurant) which is reported to have waiter service - I say reported as we booked for a 7:30pm sitting and by 8:30 only my husband had been served his starter which was eaten but the empty plate wasn't collected. He even tried to give the plate to a waiter who responded saying that he was the drinks waiter and couldn't take the plate back to the kitchen!!!!

You also get to eat once in the caribbean restaurant - which is the Cabana bar nearest the main pool during the day. The service here was slow too and one of the waiters who was serving us said (and I quote) "This is the worst place I've ever worked". People who were arriving after us got served before us and all I kept thinking was I'd love to see Gordon Ramsey take this place in hand and get it on track. So for your meals I'd recommend avoiding the two specialised restaurants and stick to the buffet.

Outside the main restaurant you'll find buggys galore as they aren't allowed in but they have oodles of highchairs available. It's kinda funny seeing so many buggys outside a restaurant, very like a carpark for babies.

The entertainments crew (E3) are excellent and the kids club staff (First Choice) are brilliant too and very friendly.

If only they could get the staff who work for the Viva hotel group up to speed it would be brilliant!

Sorry, not a very good review coming up!

We have just arrived back from the Holiday Village Viva and felt we had to post this note to express our disappointment. We are not new to package holidays, we mostly take 2-3 a year.

On arrival the village looked fantastic, very clean and tidy with lots of holiday atmosphere. We were given a ground floor apartment in block 4, the first door on the left, which proved to be very noisy from 9pm-midnight. We have 3 kids aged 4, nearly 2 and 7 months - we pre-booked a baby pack before we left but after four enquiries we never received a playpen or suntent (probably the two most useful things on the list!). We also pre-booked three sessions in the tweety creche for our 2 year old, she only went once as they could not fit her in for any more!

We chose to go in May as we thought that it would not be too busy, in fact it was - no room on the sunbeds, restaurant chock-a-block (they told us to leave the pushchair outside and tried to make us put our 7 month old in a wooden highchair only suitable for a sitting child), pub full - we had to chose between eating or getting a seat in the bar! We were told that there were 600 people when we were there but the village can hold 1,600 (I think I would definitely avoid peak season).

This is NOT the place for couples or people without children, there are kids everywhere!! Lots of people and kids being sick, everyone in our party was sick within hours of each other - all still ill now after 5 days of being at home - I have today taken all 3 kids to the doctors and they have sent away 'poo' samples to the lab. All have chest infections - the beds were all damp, obviously not properly aired since last season. The First Choice reps did not seem to care or help with any problem.

The floor in our room was only washed when we complained that we had sick over it still. The maids came 3 times to clean in the week but on all occasions she appeared at 5pm when the kids were having a nap or we were getting ready to go out. Other than that it was fine!!

Ca'n Picafort is nice though, we ate there mostly even though we were all inclusive - didn't want to risk being sick again.

Food at lunch time in the village is very basic, we lived on the pizza from the pool bar!! Also don't book all inclusive, self-catering people were getting all the same benefits (including food and drink) WITHOUT paying, a couple we spoke to were well chuffed, they said that no one was checking and they had saved themselves over

Hotel very clean. Nicest room we have ever had in a hotel, very spacious. Good with seperate shower and bath. No complaints about the room at all.

Food was ok but got very repetetive after a week. There were hardly any vegetables on the menu, but always lots of pasta, chips etc.

The Dining room got very packed very quickly, so if you were not there for 6.30 you did not stand a good chance of getting a table with a highchair.Lots of choice of food though for breakfast and other meals.
Found the situation with the sunbeds a bit stupid, we luckily managed to get a sunbed, but only just. By the end of the holiday, the hotel was piling up all of the beds and padlocking them together, so nobody could reserve a bed!. It was amusing watching people waiting for them to be released, then there was a mass rush for the beds.

The hotel seemed a bit out of the way, we regularly walked down to the main shopping area. The playpark near the hotel, was full of dog poo!, and you would not let your children play here.

Found hotel reception staff very pleasant, there was never enoughpeople behind the bar in the evening and it took forever to be served. The barstaff were all very pleasant, but did notice they were being unneccesarily sworn at by other British hotel guests. All First Choice staff very friendly at hotel.

Evening entertainment on too late at night did not start until 10pm, difficult keeping children up that late. Did not use kids clubs so cannot comment on them.

The water in the pools was very cold, so our toddler did not go in very often. Pool area very clean and pleasant, and gardens very well maintained.

I would definitely recommend this holiday to any family. The food is very good with plenty of choice for both parents and children.

The kids club and interaction activities for everyone including the parents was great and the staff who did the activities are very professional.

The hotel rooms are fantastic 4 star class and extremely spotless including the entire complex. The swimming pools are very spacious with plenty of sun beds to choose from.

Once again this is a fantastic place to come and enjoy yourselves for all the family.

Have just returned from the Holiday village today, with 2 12 year olds, and I must say I am going to find it a little hard to say anything negative about the place. It was lovely in all respects, the staff (entertainment crew, first choice and viva staff) were all brilliant!! Lots of younger children so ours from time to time probably felt a little too old for the activities - they did not want to join any clubs anyhow - they were quite happy sailing their boat in the pool!!

The room was extremely clean - we were in Block 5 (perhaps the only bad thing I will say is that you can hear everything going on - even voices heard clearly) in neighbouring apartments - very echo-ey!!

We were a little let down by the weather for perhaps half of our stay - but the entertainment team made sure there was always something going on (quizes etc).

The pools are lovely and unlike previous reviews left we never had a problem getting a bed by the pool - even though it was half term week and it was extemely busy.

Can't fault the food in the main buffet restaurant - great variety, however not so keen on the 2 specialist restaurants (caribbean probably better than the italian) but would personally say stick to the main restaurant as it is much better!!

Hope this review is helpful and have a good a time as we did!!

On arrival at the Village Viva we had to request a wrist band because we were all inclusive. First impressions were that the complex was not too full and there were plenty of sun beds around the pool area. What a mistake! Lots of people must have booked in after us and the the next morning we could see from our balcony people grabbing chairs and putting them in the place they wanted their sun beds after they were unchained. This happened for the whole week.(the sunny and cloudy days - from 7.00 a.m.) Sometimes sunbeds were left for hours at a time, but with towels on them.No chance of getting a one until after 5.00 ish.

Would not go all inclusive again, as there were only two of us and when we compared the prices, on reflection, made a mistake.

The outside of the complex was cleaned daily, but the cleaners did not take much care in the rooms. One day we were not left any towels, tea towel or bath mat. We did manage to get some towels but no tea towel or bath mat.

Food was fair. Chips with everything! Not really enough variation. Much of the food was overcooked.

Location was O.K. The town not too far to walk. Many people complained of the noise from the road adjacent to the complex, especially the motor scooters.
Some of the staff were quite 'stand offish'. Bar staff could not determine who had been standing the longest in the queues at the bar and one just about called my husband a liar when he said that he had been standing a long time.

Entertainment was great for the kids. The comedian was abysmal.

The day before leaving, we were presented with a bill (bearing in mind we were all inclusive). We queried it with our rep and the reception staff said that it was from the bar. When we saw a copy of the receipt, it had my husbands name and our room number, but the signature was another name. We are still trying to work out how this could have happened seeing as the staff have to swipe the card through the till and the cards never left my sight! We were told "don't worry about this!!!"

We would not visit this complex again.

If you do not like any of these then you will not like the food !
