I love this hotel, not only because it ticks all the required boxes to meet expected standards for a fun family holiday. But because this is where i met the love of my life, Jessica Holly...

I love you!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Puerto Azul.

The hotel iteself is really nice. The rooms are basic, small but very clean - but how much time do you spend in your room anyway?!

The staff were all lovely and only too willing to help - this goes for reception, cleaning ladies, waitresses and kids club/reps. You couldn't ask for more!!

The food was lovely - something for everyone. The only down side is 'the saving of the sun beds'. This got earlier and earlier throughout our stay with dedicated lounger savers laying out their spot before 7am. It is beyond me why you would want to do this but they did!!

However, this is the only negative point and you get this everywhere!

My family and I stayed at the puerto azul and we loved it that much that we're going again next year.

we went half board and we're glad that we did although there was a couple of nights the we did not enjoy we always looked forwards to the entertainment after. My faviroute reps are sparkling steve and princess helen.

The only negative I had was that we never got sunbeds it was rediculous it got earlier and earlier every morning and we requested a pool facin room so at night we could go up with our youngest and still watch the entertainment with our oldest and that way our oldest could go to the pool and we could of watched her from the balocny but we couldn't get a pool facing room there the only negatives.

We were unlucky enough to have delays going out and only arrived at 2.30am. On arrival we had two very tired children and were immediately told to get them in bed while the guy on reception started to bring the cases up to our room. The room was clean, not lucky enough to get a ground floor pool room. The sofa bed in the lounge is not exactly comfortable but it sufficed.

My biggest criticism of this Thomson super-family hotel is the amount of stairs. It is impossible to get to any room (not ground floor) without some stairs.

Considering nearly everyone in this hotel had at least one buggy\pram this causes a great deal of inconvenience (especially with a sleeping child in a buggy). For example :- To get out of reception to our room we had to go down about 10 steps, then up another 10 steps to get to the lift. On getting out of the lift we had to go down another set of 10 steps. I even saw an elderly lady in a wheel chair with a foot in plaster hoping down a staircase (partner carrying wheel chair).

On a more positive note the army of cleaning staff worked incredibly hard to a very high standard. The food in the restaurant was also of a very high standard with a good variety. The children had their own buffet with the usual culprits fish fingers, Ravioli and chips etc. Both our children (3 & 5) found something to eat every day. I particularly enjoyed the Wednesday nights

My wife & I travelled to the hotel with one of our children & 1 grandchild & met our son & his family out there.

The hotel was first class, rooms cleaned every day to a high standard.

Top marks for the staff, service & attitude very good, they really made us feel welcome.

The food was very good apart from 3 nights when the standard dropped, but as I understood they had a water supply problem to the hotel at that time.

Location of the hotel is very good. The reps work very hard with the children.

The entertainment left a little bit to be disired apart from one night when they had 'the beatles' great! The pool is very good, could do with more shades but that is standard.

The lads who work the bar & snacks work very hard ,five out of five.

This was the 2nd year we stayed in this hotel and we were not at all disappointed. This year there were two families 2 adults 2 children (5 & 10 years old) and 2 adults (grand-parents) & 1 teenager (15 years).

It was really nice that staff on reception recognised us and so did the staff in the restaurant. They really made us feel welcome again.

The hotel rooms are slit up into three blocks and this year we were really lucky enough to have two ground floor rooms facing the baby pool, which was really handy as our daughter is disabled and it made life alot easier having easy access to the poolside.

As like most hotels the sunbed situation is not that good. You had to be up at the crack of dawn saving a decent position around the pool, then wait until 9am until the sunbeds were unlocked whereby you grabbed the number you required to put in your place. But to be honest it does not sound as bad as it is, as everyone seemed to pick the same place and help each other with the sunbeds and most people only took 2 sunbeds per room. There seemed to be enough sunbeds and parasols to go round, though like most hotels more would be better.

We hired a car or should I say mini bus (as there was 7 of us) for a couple of days. We hired it through reception as the type of car we needed worked out alot cheaper than through the Thomson reps. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring some of the island and if you get a chance to, it is worth a look. We went to the Caves at Porto Cristo, which were beautiful. Also drove through the mountains to Deia which which was an experience and beautiful but once in Deia, there is nothing there. The monestry at Luc was lovely and worth a trip to.

The walk along the promanade during the day or night was again lovely this year. It is definately worth having a walk along there just to see the sand sculptures. Also worth walking along the pine walk as that is beautiful too and you can have fun trying to fish for little fish, scrimps and crabs.

The food in the hotel was again this year good. There is more than enough choice for everyone, including vegetarians and children.

The entertainment acts that came in from outside were ok. Some were better than others but if you found they got abit boring then do as we did go for a nice walk.

The entertainment team (Adam and Impey) were great. Adam was there when we were there last year, so it was great to see him again. They worked so hard and entertained us throughout the day with games, etc and in the evenings. Though the entertainment overall could have been abit more varied.

The kids club reps were good too. Our children went into drop-in most days instead of the kids clubs, but they had a great time. They also really enjoyed the mini disco in the evenings doing the club dances. No matter what if you go to kids club or drop-in there was always and oportunity to win prizes. All the kids reps and Adam and Impey were great with kids and all the kids loved them.

The cleanliness of the hotel was great. There was a maid service everyday. They also kept the public areas spotless.

Even though this was our 2nd year at this hotel, we met up with friends that have never been to this hotel before and we can honestly say that they enjoyed the holiday first time round as much as we have the 2nd time around.

It is certainly a great hotel for families as it is in a safe environment. We have had a fantastic time and would certainly go back again.

Having read the wonderful reviews about this hotel on Holiday Truths I had to book the "Puerto Azul" just to see if all the 'hype' was true. And I am happy to tell you we have just had the best holiday ever! If you have children this holiday will not disappoint and my only moan was that my children (aged 6 and 8) were having such a wonderful time being entertained in the hotel they didn't want to go out!

Puerto Pollensa is a very beautiful part of Majorca. Its the north of the island and yes it gets cloudy but who cares when you are having such a great time. The resort is lovely and not overly touristy like its neighbour Alcudia. It is very clean. There are lots of bars and restaurants for all tastes (there is even a Burger King for the desparate!) and of course you have the "Pine Walk" which comes alive every evening with craft stalls and street entertainers. There are also the most amazing sand castles created on the beach and lit with tealights at night. The port is straight out of a magazine and is great to wander around and see the wonderful boats.

The Puerto Azul is situated with everything literally on your doorstep. The beach is a short walk away and there are a couple of supermarkets, Trio restaurant (excellent) and the "Al Fresco" deli sandwich bar which was fantastic for lunch and catered brilliantly for kids. It is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. They are always cleaning! In the hotel, the grounds, around the pool. You get clean towels and your room cleaned every day. And if you want a lie in they come back later and don't hassle you. Nothing is too much trouble. Even the pool isn't heavily chlorinated and for the first time my kids came home without ear infections! The staff are polite and friendly and love the kids "Ola Woppa!"

The rooms are clean and comfortable, have lots of wardrobe space and plenty of hangers (makes a change!) My only gripe was that you have to hire a kettle and as there is a small kitchen area I'd assumed that one would be available. No matter, next time I'll bring my own...... You also have to hire the fridge, which most people did. Our room was ground floor (as requested) and faced a road at the back of the hotel. It was relatively peaceful and had a great view of the mountains. I'd ask for this block again. Those facing the pool didn't have to endure too much noise as everything was finished by Midnight at the latest.

The food was plentiful and the kids buffet had plenty of variety. OK some nights were better than others but on the whole we all found something we liked on the evenings we were there. The table turnaround was pretty quick and we were never left waiting for a table long. The waitresses worked very hard and were always pleasant and extremely helpful even at their busiest times. We ate out twice. Once at "Little Italy" and once at a hotel along the front called the "Bahia". We had lovely meals in both and I'd recommend them. The great thing is once the children finish eating they can run over and play on the beach safely leaving Mum and Dad a little time to finish dinner on their own! The poolside bar sells snacks at lunchtime but we didn't bother. This side of the catering lets the hotel down in my opinion, but thanks to Al Fresco, where most people seemed to go, we had a delicious lunch and escaped the burger and chips!

The dreaded sunbeds...... Yes there is always a queue, yes you have to get up early - but why let it ruin your holiday? I used to run down and place a couple of chairs with my towels on them on the spot I wanted my beds. I'd get a table and umbrella (if I was lucky) and go in for breakfast. At about 8.55 loads waited for the beds to be unleashed and then people would help each other take them to their chosen spot. During my stay this was always done in a civilized way and, like I say, people were always willing to help each other. Especially when it was usually Mum who drew the short straw and had to reserve them as in my case! I think people around the little baby pool had a harder time as there wasn't as much space. But its part of any hotel culture in my experience and it was a good way to meet people and find out loads about the resort! If on the rare occasion I didn't get a bed there were lots of chairs to sit on and if people didn't insist on getting a bed for their children (who rarely use them) or reserve a bed and go out for the day I'm sure the situation could be improved.

There was only one way in and out of the hotel, and that was through the reception, so I felt quite comfortable letting my children roam safely. The entertainment was great. Amazing Adam, Impey, Loopy Leanne, Sparkly Steve and the crew were brilliant. All credit to Amazing Adam - a fantastic personality and surely a jewel in Thomson's crown. He got everyone joining in and none of it in your face. If you didn't want to join in you were left alone. My only sadness was that I couldn't win a Thomson cool bag despite countless attempts at the daily quiz (I will be checking E-Bay!!!!) And hubby didn't win a T-shirt (should have tried harder!) My 8 year old went to kids club twice and enjoyed it but prefered the poolside activities and the mini-disco in the evening. My son spent loads of his time (and my euros) playing pool and making friends there, but he too loved the shows and mini-disco. On the whole the kids made loads of lovely friends and for the first time ever I had to drag them from the swimming pool to eat an ice cream and have a drink!

So many of the friends we made at the Puerto Azul were return guests. All credit to Thomson on this one. None of us wanted to come home, the kids are badgering us to book for next year already and I'll definately be doing so. For the first time in a long time we felt our holiday was worth every euro. OK we didn't do some of the touristy things we would have liked such as the "Pirates" show and we were based mainly around the hotel but it was a break for us as the kids were having such a good time. We did manage to escape to the Hydro park at Alcudia and went on the bus from the port which was fun. That was a brilliant day out (get your tickets through the hotel to avoid the queues).

I thought the evening entertainment at the hotel was good, with something for all tastes. Lots of tribute bands Queen, Madonna, The Abba girls and who could forget Elvis! The reps show was good too. We enjoyed them all.

At the end of the day this is a brilliant family holiday - exactly as it says in the brochure. I look forward to going back next year confident we will all have a great time and hopefully bump into some of the friends we made this year! I'm going to stop rambling now and go and look at my holiday photos - for the hundredth time..........!

Have just returned from a lovely 2 week holiday at the Puerto Azul.

Hotel very nice, lovely pools and all kept very clean with whole pool terrace being scrubbed every morning. Apartment was fine and cleaner came every day. The only down side to the room was that although there is a fridge and sink etc there are no utensils at all, I do think glasses and cups etc should be provided even though the hotel is now half board. Also we were on the top floor and were not advised that there actually was a lift in our block (Block C) and struggled up with all luggage etc and didnt find the lift until about 4 days into the holiday.

During our first week (last week of school holidays) the pool was very busy with people reserving their space around the pool with chairs from about 7am. We never bothered and just went down at 9 when sunbeds were unlocked which was fine although space around the pool was a bit limited. In the second week things were much better and plenty of space for everyone.

Food in the restaurant was fine, only a couple of times when we didnt fancy anything but always nice salad and pasta so never went hungry, desserts were excellent though. Half board can get a bit boring so we ate out a few times and there were so many nice places to choose from it would have been a shame not too.

Entertainment and kids clubs were very good especially Amazing Adam who seems to have unlimited energy.

This hotel is great for families and had only English families whilst we were there. The hotel is very clean and well maintained, with towels changed and maids each day.

The hotel is split into 3 blocks, with block A above the bar where we were. Luckily most noise died down by midnight which was fine, but may be noisy if you want an early night (we didn't!).

I would think the rooms without a pool view would be quieter, as these faced onto the mountains and a farily quiet road. You can rent a fridge for 30 euros and a safety deposit box for about 30 euros (for 2 weeks), and the kitchen area is ok for making snacks.

The food is good. Lots of choice for the children with their own buffet. We felt that there was enough choice. Breakfast was more of the same with the usual cooked breakfast, but would have liked to have taken kids favourite cereals as they didn't like the ones there. Snack bar meals are OK but we ate out at lunchtime more.

Al Fresco is great for sandwiches near to the Spar Supermarket, or the supermarket just down the road does great cheese and ham t-cakes and bagettes!

Entertainment and activities are great with Alex and Impey. My 4 and 10 year old joined in most things, and enjoyed them. Mini disco in evening with party dances and games which the 4 year old loved. Entertainment outside which is great. Kids club was fantastic and the reps work really hard in there.

TV in reception with full sky channels that can be put on whatever you want. Also TV room where kids can chill when its hot.

Many people we met had been here for many years, some 8 years which speaks for itself. We met a great crowd and the children made some good friends. I would love to return again next year.

We stayed at the Puerto Azul in July 2006, first impressions on arrival lovely and clean.

Reception staff very friendly and helpful. This hotel is spotless, the maid service is second to none, they are very friendly, and love children.

The food was great somthing for everyones taste, and the restaurant staff were great! They work so hard and are very welcoming, the restaurant manageress is fab! She came round every morning kissing the babies and talking to the older children, taking a genuine interest in our family.

The entertainment was good, though alex is out of this world, what a brilliant personality and a great plus to this hotel.

Caroline the Thompson tour rep was very helpful and another great asset to the hotel!

Perhaps there could have been somthing more for the under two's though.

Would definatley reccommend renting a fridge it is a must!! as it was incredibly hot!

The complex is lovely, but if you like to lounge by the pool on a sunbed be there at dawn I guess or like us you will have no chance, however it was too hot to sit in, would reccommend going to the beach where there are great shaded areas and usually a welcome breeze.
