A party of four of us, a couple and two friends needed a break away from work. We are aged, 41, 34, 33 and 20. We went into My Travel and they found this hotel for us. We were told it was a four star hotel on their computer system, but when we arrived it clearly said three star outside.

We stayed on a half board basis. The food itself and food choice was very good, there was something for each of us. Breakfast was buffet style and everything you could wish for. We normally ate lunch in the bar downstairs next to the pool area where there were burger and chips, pizza, toasted sandwiches etc... to choose from (at extra cost), then onto dinner, again plenty of choice each evening. The restaurant is lovely and cool and a good size, but a view would make it just perfect.

The hotel's location is good. It is tucked away on the headland and just a short 10 minute walk into the small square where you will find shops, cafe's, supermarkets, restaurants and plenty of evening entertainment. The evening entertainment in the square was a little too quiet for us so we hailed a taxi each evening to take us into Magaluf where the night life is buzzing. You must ask the taki driver to take you to the 'Red Lion' district that is where all the modern pubs and clubs are.

The hotel staff were wonderful and could not do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. We needed extra pillows, they arrived immediately. We needed a light bulb replacing it was done within a few hours. The bar staff and the restaurant staff are particularly friendly and helpfull and again, nothing is too much trouble. The management have chosen their staff well.

The two pools are lovely with a waterfall running between them. Just one thing though, the temperatures were in the high 30's during our stay and the pools were very cold.

The only slight down-side is first of all we were told this was 4 star and is was only 3 star, but don't let that put you off. The hotel was built in 1988 and is a bit 'dated' in places. They have started a refurbishment programme and it is coming along nicely. There is still work to be done ie: futher painting of the hotel both inside and outside and the pool area needs some updating too.

The staff and the setting are wonderful and we would return to this hotel again once the refurbishment is completed.

We enjoyed everything about this hotel, from the wonderful location and stunning views across the bays. It may have been a 10 minuite walk into town but you didn

We stayed at Punta Del Mar for the first week of a stay and cruise holiday with Airtours.I travelled with my partner and my 8 year old daughter.
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel-it's in a brilliant position on the Costa Calma part of Santa Ponsa with beautiful views of the Santa Ponsa bay.It is a fair walk into Santa Ponsa town, but only a short walk to the square where there's plenty of bars and family entertainment of an evening
The Hotel was spotless, and our room was more like a suite with 2 bathrooms, a sitting area and a large patio.
The hotel pools are well appointed and maintained, the only gripe being it was sometimes difficult to get a sunlounger/umbrella. The hotel is also privy to a lovely little sea cove with a ladder down into the sea for the more adventurish swimmer.
The food was generally excellent - I particulary enjoyed the interesting selection of salads, whilst my partner had some beef which he said was the best he'd tasted in years!
The hotel has a activities programme, and most daytime activites ran on time and were free. We tried our hands at archery, shooting and aquaerobics. In the evening they had a mini-disco for children, which my little girl never missed. The adult entertainment wasn't so exiting- the usual mediterranean fayre- live music, bingo etc, but there were a couple of shows which weren't too bad.
On the whole, I would thoroughly reccommend this hotel
,especially to families with young children wanting a quieter holiday away from the nastier side of packaged resorts.
