we stayed in cal font menorca. beautiful resort. beach was nice but a bit small. the square was brilliant for entertainment for adults and children. restaurants really catered for children with a lot of them with free play areas including bouncy castles. my neice and nephew (who is autistic) loved them. would highly recommend this resort for families with young children. my son and partner and two young children will be going next year because of my recommedation.

we love calan forcat / calan blanes it is a prefect resort for young families, there are losts of bars and resturants which all have bouncy castles, ballpools and live entertainment to keep the kids entertained, the beaches are all in walking distance and they are kept clean and tidy, also in the centre of the resort is a waterpark that is in walking distance from all hotels etc...
me and my family will deifinatley be visiting this resort again next year, loved it.

The resort was lovely and clean and the entertainment was varied and excellent. We visited Pirates Cove which was about 20 minutes walk away and that was a very nice beach, we then found a beach 5 minutes away that the rep didnt mention when we asked, this was a tiny cove beach with a beach bar literally 2 minutes walk from our room or 5 minutes from reception that we spent most of our time on.

great resort and the shopping bar a must... lovely chill out bar with inflatables at the side for kiddies....mini train ride round the resort brill.... 3 euro for a 45 min trip round all the resort and the guy parked up so you could take pics of somme great views...not the best beach but instead coves so that was the only downfall with the resort but WILL RETURN!!!

Cal n Forcat was ok - my main gripe is that 1st week in May there was not a lot open. I believe that if the tour company - Thomas Cook are selling holidays here then they should tell you there is a possibility that this might happen at start of season. No evening entertainment apart from the hotel a lot of restaurants still closed - water park wasn't open - bars closed - just wasn't what was advertised at all. Tour companies should make you aware of this.

The resort of Cala'n Forcat/Cala'n Blanes was one with the most friendly of locals, all english speaking and warm hospitatility.
It was clean, with all the entertainment that you could expect, including a water park nearby for the kids. The beaches were more coves with sandy stretches than beach, but they were still great!

Not our first time to this resort and the first thing I need to say is that since 2007 the prices for anyone self catering have rocketed to ridiculous. I will give examples and remember the exchange rate is only 1.03 euro to the pound and on our last 2 days one exchange was offering a pound per euro only.
Pot noodle, cheapest found was £1.50, a loaf £1.49, Sunday paper £2.70, a packet of hobnobs £2.25, a litre of long life milk £1.50. Our most ridiculous find was a jar of 6 frankfurters in a town centre store for £6.50, a tin of 8 was available at £1.50. We did shop around and one shop was offering 10% off everything due to it being the end of the season but they are killing off tourism with the prices.
I would have to think twice before going back to menorca self catering as it was cheaper to eat out that try to eat in and I am not a mean person, i just think we are being ripped off. Going to the larger hypermarket just outside Ciutidella is not the answer, prices there were not that much better and you dont want to spend your hols looking for a netto's or lidl's every time you want something to eat.
The shopping at the airport for cigs etc was a lot more expensive than in town so be aware of that if you want to bring tabs or drink home.
Beaches in Cala 'n Forcat are not good but there are a couple of bays you can get a swim in the sea at if you enjoy that.
Bars in town are OK, Jimmy Hills area and Blue breeze were stil well frequented and some others in the Los delfines area seemed to be popular even in the last week of the season.
In 2007 we had a two week break in the resort, most of the restaraunt prices have risen but nothing like the prices of the supermarkets. The price of beer is still a bit better than the UK and you can still have a good night out enjoying happy hours and cheap local drink without breaking the bank. Bar owners appear to have got a grip on what to charge and their trade will probably be killed off by the excahnge rate rather than their own greed.
The bus service to Ciutidella and cala n' bosch is first class, 1.45 euro each way to the capital, which is a lovely town, is excellent value for money and we went 3 times in a week as its a pleasure to walk around. We had a wrap type kebab in the town square and it was the best meal we had in the week, sitting outside people watching in the sun.
So my advice would be go to menorca but seriously consider all inclusive unless your feeling flush. I wont be back self catering unless the exchange rate gets back to what it was 2 years ago.

Lots of choice for food in resort - recomment Delfinos (before 7.30pm and you get the early bird menu - 3 course adult meal for 9 euros, excellent value) and also the steakhouse Haiti - the platters are excellent.
Disappointed that there is no big beach within walking distance, but was aware of this before we went.
I can see how people do visit hotel/resort year after year - would do so with younger children.
Water park - we didnt go but after 3pm prices go down to 11 Adult and 7 child - it stays open until 6pm, people said it was ok.

Great resort for families, no rowdy nightclubs, plenty of placed to eat which cater for kids,Jimmy hills has entertainment every nigh which is of a high standard, great place to eat was next to the water park, the food was fab at a good price and the best part was they have a outside play area which is free if you are eating in,well supervised and lots of fun for kids while parents relax, would highly recommend this place.
Beach or cove was very nice if a bit small when you can find it or a way to get to it,we followed a sign saying beach,we had to climb over rocks and descend down a rocky narrow track fighting bushes on the way,not accessable with a pram or if you have walking difficulties as i only just made it myself, not well sign posted or accessable.
Very little traffic great resort for families, not for the older teenagers but will go again and will recommend to others.
