Santo Tomas is a very family friendly resort. Due to the fact it is a small resort, you are not invaded by coach loads of day trippers, this was a major plus for us. There are approx 10 restaurants within the resort and 2 are well worth a visit. Malibu Restaurant is just behind the Santo Tomas Hotel, it overlooks the beach but is not too close. The food is excellent and the staff are very welcoming and always seem to smile, they are happy to look after you. At the other end of the resort is Es Pins, another restaurant worth a visit. The resort has 2 small Supermarkets, a Bakery and the usuall beach gear shops, all of which are a little on the expensive side, especially the supermarkets, they are owned by the same people, no competition pricing !! If you are hiring a car, which is essential if you want to see more than Santo Tomas, you can get your shopping from the local Spar Supermarket in Es Mercadal which is only a 15 min drive away and easy to find. You will save lots of Euro's if you are shopping for a 2 week stay. The beach was great, not too busy and very clean indeed. Not sure what it would be like in the high season, July - September with the resort at max capacity, we tend to avoid the high season for this very reason. I would reccommend this resort to any friend with confidence.

Resort was clean wherever you went, we found a nice walk along to Son Bou, over the rocks a bit but then onto a lovely sandy beach but beware this is also a Nudest beach!!
Beach was clean and tidy, quite a few jelly fish around for time we were there but the beach runs a Traffic light flag system to warn of dangers etc...

As already stated we chose to come back to this resort because we are very impressed with it. It is a nice quiet place even when visiting during Euro 08 when Spain are doing very well (luckily we left before the final!)
Everyone seems very friendly although the shops were ludicrously expensive and the staff tend to look at everyone as potential shoplifters! Last year the staff were alot friendlier chatting to the kids and teaching them spanish which the kids loved and were looking forward to this year, however the staff in the shops hardly spoke to them at all which was very disappointing.
The restaurants were nice, we tended to stick to Es pins and Las Dunas but after a few days we became bored with the lack of choice on offer and found at busy times the service at Las Dunas became silly, granted busy times do usually mean longer waits but alot of people found it frustrating that some of the staff completely ignored them and we witnessed many people leave as the waiter ignored them over and over again. We too experienced this on our last night which was upsetting. Es Pins was much the same with only 1 very friendly waiter, Chemi, working his little socks off! Please note this only our experience and I am just being honest next year we will try different restaurants that were recommended on the travel home.
On a better note the beach is fantastic, we tended to stick to the far end which is alot quieter although the main part of the beach isn't very busy compared to larger resorts. The water is very clear and you can walk out to sea quite far before it gets deep enough to swim and the kids had a great time, the sand is very soft and there wasn't any rubbish around that we could see. It would help if there was perhaps a small stall selling drinks, snacks and ice creams but it doesn't spoil the day without it.
As we did the whole tourist thing last year visiting towns and other resorts etc we stuck to the resort this year as the kids enjoyed the pool, waterpark and the beach and must say overall we had a very relaxing holiday, the weather changed as we got there and we had sunshine everyday.
As previously said make sure you take plenty of money for the over priced basics in the shops and you will find this resort very relaxing and enjoyable. We have already booked for next year so hope to see you there.

Immaculate and feels exclusive. Very low key entertainment. Fantastic beach. Breathtaking views out to sea.

Prices are very expensive!!! Expect to pay a little more for groceries than here, if possible visit one of the hypermarkets in mahon. We hired a car, so had easy access to the whole island, and visited all the lovely caves, coves and beaches - definatly worth hireing a car, although the resort is on a bus route.
Beach is clean and roomy.
Definatly worth a visit!! -

Santo Thomas is generally very well maintained and clean
There are one or two discos but other enterainment in some of the hotels is rep. organised and rather tacky. There was some evidence of drunkeness which might be worse in high season.
The beach generally of a high standard with sunbeds and parasols available for guests.
I would visit the Hamilton Court Appartments again but not in high season unless they became more upmarket,

We have just come back from Santo Tomas and I decided to write a review as there are not many postings on this site. Santo Tomas is a very quiet clean resort, with a beautiful clean sandy beach, clear shallow waters and purely tranquil. On a clear day you can see Majorca. There is a lovely promenade which you can walk the full length of the resort on. As this is our 5th visit, it has become a bit of a tradition to walk to Son Bou. The walk takes you over the cliffs with breathtaking views of both Santo Tomas and Son Bou. It is now much easier to walk there as work has been done recently with a route marked out and easier access to Son Bou beach. Beware, when you get to Son Bou, the first part is a nudist colony and we felt quite overdressed in our shorts and tshirts!!!!
There are 2 promenades of shops. One is opposite the Mestral and Lieberg apartments. You will find a supermarket, usual seaside gift shops, ice cream parlour and clothes shop. The other shops are opposite the Lord Nelson Apartments where you will find a pharmacy, bakers, car rental, supermarket, gift shops, chinese restaurant and doctors. Should you have cause to use the doctor, he is excellent. His receptionist speaks very good English and he was very quick to diagnose a problem with my daughter one year.
The down side to the resort are the restaurants. The Chinese is good and the Pizza place at the bottome of the Lord Nelson apartments is also good, I would also recommend the restaurant at the back of Santo Tomas Hotel which is on the sea front. Friendly staff and nice food but very basic. All the restaurants serve the same sort of food, which is usually grilled meat with salad and chips. Costa Sur has gone downhill and I personally wouldn't recommend you go there, the same with Las Dunas. Es Pins is o.k, but the restaurants do let the resort down. You can also eat in the hotels which we have never done.
There is a pony club up the hill next to the Mestral and Lieberg apartments. You have to book if you want a ride. We didn't go there this year, but have done in previous years. The English girl who used to run it was called Emma, but I don't know if she is still there. If you've got children, I would definitely recommend it.
There is a putting green next to Las Dunas and a play area next to the Coasta Sur.
If you want a quiet peaceful holiday where everything shuts down at 11pm, then this is the place for you, but if you like lots of activities, partying etc, then you need to look elsewhere.
I personally would come back every year as I love the place.

Santo Tomas was a very small, clean resort with limited shops, restaurants and entertainment. We enjoyed the quietness of it but our 13 and 16 year olds were not so impressed and at times seemed really bored! We ended up every night at Las Dunas which is the only real source of entertainment, although I must say wasnt so impressed with the food and only had one meal there! Good Entertainment nearly every night and we were pleased that the resort went quiet from 11. We met alot of people who had visited the resort year after year and loved it. We could understand its appeal and we felt if a relaxing little village a complete chill out zone (but maybe sometimes were craved a little more excitement!) Overall it was a good place to stop and we found a three day car hire the best of both worlds.

We liked the resort a lot - it was super for kids! It is immaculate and the gardens are beautifully maintained.
Our Kids (3, 5 8, 8 & 10) loved the pony club and we booked them in a couple of times.
My 17 year old liked hanging out at las Dunas and the pool area where he made some friends.
We all spent a lot of time by the pool. All the kids made friends easily by the pool and the park area and had a wonderful time.
We usually had breakfast and lunch in our appartments and then dined out each evening. We were happy with the restaurants on the resort. Espins was popular with the kids because of the play area on the side. And we enjoyed the view of the ocean. There was a good range on most of the menus on the resort to suit all tastes.
We quite liked the food from the local supermarkets. They had fresh baked bread and fantastic pain au chocolat. We enjoyed the local cheeses, chorizo and wine!
You could pack a few things from home to bring - like cereal for the kids, coffee, washing / dish detergents etc. - we bought everything we needed there there - it was a bit overpriced but not terribly so.
The beaches are really pretty and very, very clean (menorca in general is very clean). We loved the boardwalk that ran around the beach area in Santo Tomas linking the restaurants -because it was away from the road we could leave the kids to run about freely.
We enjoyed our scenic walk to Son Bou but didn't think too much of it when we got there - a lot more commercial & quite a bit less attractive than Santo Tomas. had a nice lunch on the beach tho'and the beach area is lovely. Because of the way the roads are set up cost us $24 per cab to get back - have to travel many miles by road to Santo Tomas but it's just a few km' if on foot. Not a walk for the unfit or poorly shod though - very rocky & steep in places!
The only town we visited was Mahon. Kids would have preferred we stayed by the pool! but I wish we had a little time to shop! If we had more time i would have liked to see Ciutadella and the Caves nr mahon....maybe next time.
