Santo Tomas is a lovely little place which took about 50 minutes from the airport. It is really just a quiet road and a promenade along the beach. There are a few big hotels and alot of apartments. There are two supermarkets which were VERY expensive. It cost 25 Euros for just a few items like bread, milk and cereal! We always buy the local foods and even they were expensive. The souvenier shops had a few cheaper items.
Eating out, the choices were mostly the hotel resturaunts or a couple of cafes and a chinese place. You could generally walk into any hotel and pay for the buffets etc even if you were not staying there. We only ate at Las Dunas for the kids disco. The prices were very simelar in all the resturaunts. A kids meal was about 4.40 Euros. Adult meal from about 7 Euros. We paid about 55 Euros for a meal for all 6 of us (4 children). We also made alot of our own meals and got some take away from Las Dunas.
Entertainment was hotel based. It was very quiet and never felt busy at all. It felt very safe and traffic was very low.
The beach is the main attraction to Santo Tomas and is stunning. White sand and turquiose water. plenty of space for everyone as there is the main beach and two other great beaches within a few minuts walk. The adjacent resort of Son Bou (with the longest beach on the island) is about a 45 minute walk over the cliffs (can be very ardueous walk with kids and on hot days, take a drink. When you arrive at Son Bou you have to walk the whole length of the beach to get to the town/shops! There are also alot of nudists on this beach) The beaches had sunbeds to hire but we never use them (heard they were shockingly expensive). We bought our own mat and umbrella. The weather was about 80 degress and so warm enough to swim, although the sea is very choppy. There is a lifeguard on duty and pedaloes to hire.
We hired a car from the shop next to the supermarket. It was 79 Euros for a 6 seater for 1 day but smaller cars were half the price and cheaper than through the reps. We drove to Mahon and Cuitadela which were lovely. We found a cheap supermarket outside the main town too and stocked up. We also visited Cala Galdana which was lovely and had abit more going on and looked like a nice place to stay. The excursions through the rep were expensive and would have cost more than hiring a car for 6 of us.
We felt a week was long enough in the resort for us due to it being quiet and expensive. We would recommend it here, menorca is lovely and Santo Tomas is ideal if you are happy to spend the days on the beach or pool and have a quiet evening stroll and meal in he same places. We would go back but generally prefer going to new places.

Food in the resort was dire!Chips with everything and the kids menu was the same everywhere - sausage and chips, hamburger and chips etc.... the best meal in the resort we had was at the Chinese! Other than that we hired a car and found delicious traditional spanish seafood at Fornells and Es Grau.
Would not return to this resort (mini- Blackpool) but would definitely return to Menorca again.

The beach is lovely and clean, and not to crowded. The roads, pavements are always clear of rubbish. There is never more than 2 cars on the road in sight.

We adore Santo Tomas, the heart of which is basically one street about 400 metres long. It has a classy, upmarket feel, with a beautiful paved promenade adjacent to the sea. It suits families and older couples, and the lack of late night entertainment means you can stroll peacefully, and in complete safety at any hour of the day. If you have a stressful job and want complete relaxation on your holiday then this resort will suit you.
The beach is magnificent, sea crystalline and there are enjoyable coastal walks towards Son Bou, Cala Galdana and inland towards Es Migjorn.

Resort itself is very clean and tidy but QUIET. Everso.
By the hotel there is a minisupermarket, chemist, car rental (not betacar), bar, and a couple of gift shops. A 5 minute walk and you have crazy golf and more shops, same as above!
To buy tobacco (more than 1 pack at a time) tou need to go to the next town (cannot remember the name) which is 4km away. Spanish law now only allows sale of tobacco from tobbacconists. This was too quiet for us-- we like a quiet resort/holiday but this was too quiet for us.

A small purpose built, but quite pretty resort. It has 2 great beaches and you can walk to 2 more in 10/15 minutes. Nightlife is low key and would not suit those who like discos and nightclubs. Buses go to Mahon and Cituadella from the resort.

Santo thomas is a very very very quiet resort, i would have said it was more for people with no children or the older couples not a family resort at all. It would be a lovely place to live out of the hustle and bustle and it seems lots of menorcans go there to escape too, on a weekend the beach is filled with menorcan people.
