Location
First impressions of the complex and apartment were very good. The complex is attractively landscaped with the apartments set out in staggered rows. We were allocated a 2-bedroom first floor frontline apartment in zone 5 with uninterrupted views across the reeds to the beach and sea. One of the best things about the apartment were the balconies. For sun-worshippers, the position of the apartments means the big front balcony gets the sun all day. If you fancy some shade the 2nd smaller covered balcony at the back provides exactly that.
Inside, the apartment was clean and tidy and what you would expect for a 2 key apartment with the usual basic furniture and the usual single and not particularly comfortable beds. The single beds in the smallish second bedroom were not really big enough for most adults in my opinion and would only really be suitable for children. If there are more than 2 adults in the party, I would definitely consider booking a 3-bedroom apartment instead as the beds in those are all full-sized with decent sized bedrooms.
The kitchen area had a fridge/freezer, electric toaster and kettle and a calor gas oven with 3 rings and grill. A box of matches and a cigarette lighter for the oven were provided. There was also lots of cupboard space and plenty of crockery and utensils so eating in is a viable option if you want to. The apartment also had it's own water heater so there was always a constant supply of hot water on demand. The big ceiling fan/lights in every room were also welcome and did a good job of keeping the rooms cooler in the 30 degree celsius temperatures we had most days.
The apartments are also well-maintained - a blown living room light bulb was replaced within 2 hours of us reporting it and I can testify that the smoke detector actually works after inadvertantly testing it with my fairly dire cookery skills one day.
Son Bou is a nice enough resort with a decent beach but there really isn't much else to recommend about the resort other than that and I would definitely recommend hiring a car at least for a few days to explore the rest of this lovely island. To sum up, we had a very enjoyable holiday and would be very happy to return to the San Jaime.

We were placed in zone 3 overlooking the play area which was great for my 7 year old but not so good for my 2 year old who kept on running off down the hill to join her!
Pool was also very close and plenty of sunbeds even for you late risers! We never got down to the pool until at least 11am and there was always plenty of beds.
Entertainment of an evening was best at Club San Jaime which is privately run(still on complex) and the bar is open until approximately 2am.The maze is great, I went with my 7 year old and several others to it when they had a lord of the rings night on and i had a scream!!
Well worth a visit, characters chasing you round in the dark, definitely brings out the kid in you!
Recommend the copocabana for a night out, waiter on skates, whizzes around with your kids! Scary for me but the kids loved it!
Hawaiian bar for the cocktails, there great.
Over all we had a great holiday, the beach was spot on, we were in zone 3 and it was about 5-10 Min's walk, would go back again possible at the end of season as I could have a bit of a lie in and still get a sunbed!

On entering the apartment that we were allocated, it was musty and damp smelling, so much so that I did not put any of our clothes in the wardrobe(as this was worse), I left them in the spare bedroom which smelled a touch fresher. The main bedroom smelled of urine and the mattresses were stained and looked dirty and the furnishings in the seating part of the apartment were stained and burned with cigarette ends. We had an infestation of ants all over the kitchen work surfaces yesterday (11th)which was so bad that my partner went to the supermarket to buy some ant killer - which took hours to work as more ants kept on coming through holes under the work surfaces. We were told by the girl in the supermarket not to enter the room for a few hours and not to let my son breathe it in.
A lot of the apartments are let to the Spanish people, and at 5am this morning(12th) 4 men and 2 women went into the apartment above ours and were shouting and screaming and seemingly having a great time. When two of the men left later on, they proceeded to urinate in the gardens in full view of the apartments.
The staff we came into contact with were pleasant enough, the entertainment left a bit to be desired. The gardens were tidy but the bedding was only changed once in the week we were there. There were not enough sunbeds for holidaymakers.
I would not recommend this complex to anyone and I certainly will not be going back.
The phrase 'you only get what you pay for'comes to mind, but when I pay over

The apartments[zone 4] are two up and we were on the top,set in nice gardens. We had a sea view although most of the view was of other apartments. The apartment was clean but the kitchen area is in need of updating, although every thing you need is there including a steam iron and an ironing board. The bed linen was changed once a week and towel's twice a week[not enough for the bed linen]. We never ate at the poolside as we found the prices to be expensive and prefferred to eat in our room for b/fast and lunch. Evening meals varied from the usual chips/ burgers/ chicken to local fish dishes. As everywhere, you get what you pay for.
There are three pools, 2 smaller ones where the lounger's were free if you could find one!
The main pool is lovely but they will charge you 4.5 euros per person per day for a lounger and no umbrellas were available, I don't know why. Next to the main pool is a large water slide which charges 2 euros for 2 slides or 6 euros for 10 slides. If you have a few kids with you it can work out very expensive. We took our own umbrella and cushions to lie on and saved a fortune.
The local Spanish school children use the slides and pools on week days [not all week] so it can get very noisy and busy.
The beach is a 10 minute walk from our apartment and was lovely, warm water, which is waist deep for a good 300 meteres approx with a great breeze. The down side being the cost of two loungers and an umbrella's being 17 euros per day, so be warned. With the cost of the beach and pool loungers the cost could go up

Situated in zone 3 opposite park which was great could sit and read whilst watching the children playing.
Maybe July/Aug might be different but we found pool area big enough and never had a problem with sunbeds although some friends found this difficult in zone 5 pool. This pool was lovely for smaller kids but not a lot of space to sit.
We loved San Jaime and would def go again
