We stayed in one of the self catering apartments, which are very spacious and have a fridge and two hob cooker and toaster etc, some apartments have a microwave but we didn't. The apartments have air con too. SuperMarket on site which is handy.

Our apartment was cleaned every other day - new towels and bedding etc.

very big pool and plenty of sun beds avaiable - even though there are quite a few Germans!! There is also a kids pool and indoor pool and saunas, but we didn't use any of these.

San Valentin is up quite a steep hill, which ok to walk down and up in the day (with lots of breaks!) but quite dark and night so we tended to get a taxi back, which costs about 6 euros. During the day the hotel runs a free mini bus down to the beach, which is really good.

We eat out in Son bou mostly, so only really caught the end of the entertainment at the hotel but it was ok - BeeGee's tribute etc!!

We would stay here again.

This was our 4th visit to the Hotel San Valentin. The hill gets easier as the children get older. The breeze is always very welcome.

The swimming pool is wonderful and the children also enjoyed the indoor pool to get out of the sun.

The staff here are friendly, welcoming and courteous. They remember you from previous holidays and the restaurant manager gave us a free bottle of champagne to welcome us back.

The Hotel is immaculately clean and the hotels rooms are cleaned and tidied every day.

We will happily return. The only small minus was the number of families with very young babies/toddlers probably due to the early season, and hence the occasional broken nights sleep. We will go in school holidays next time.

The quality of service and enjoyment of this hotel means that it is very good value and well worth a visit.

Just retuned from the San Valentin in Son Bou what a fantastic holiday! Hotel was absolutely stunning.

Staff very helpful and always smiling! Entertainment staff amazingly talented as they can speak so many languages and always repeat everything in each language so no one feels left out. Entertainment of an evening really good especially enjoyed tribute to Kool and the Gang feat Southside band who were extremely talented.

If your looking for a relaxing break away from it all then this is the hotel for you. Would definately recommend hiring a car as you can explore and go out of an evening as the streets down to resort from hotel are a little dark!

Brilliant Hotel would recommend it for families, couples and singles looking for the ultimate paradise sun, sea and lots of good food!

On arrival at the San Valentin Hotel, we had arrived late at night and they had arranged a cold buffet for us even though the restaurant had been closed earlier that evening.

We were given a room on the second floor and the view was exceptional. The room itself was spotless and very spacious. The beds were also very comfortable.

The food in the hotel was amazing (first class) and lots of choice to choose from. They had freshly cooked meat every night and also themed evenings. The sweets are also to die for!!! The staff at the hotel are first class too and cannot do enough for you, with each person speaking various languages fluently. The pool is fantastic but was rather cold but great on a very hot day. Loads of sunloungers to choose from all with parasols.

The beach was also lovely too but only visited it the once and be warned the sunbeds and parasols cost an amazing 17 euros for the day.

The only downside to the hotel was where is was situated, the free bus service from the hotel finished a 7 pm at night and the train that ran round son bou wasn't the most reliable but did only cost 3 euros.

All in all a fantastic week and would love to go back in the future.

We chose this hotel on the basis of reviews here, and did not regret it! We were really worried we would be disappointed, having had a bad holiday last year we really needed a good experience.

It is hard to fault this hotel. It is immaculate, and lovely to stay in, with marble and plants, brass rails etc. The food is outstandingly good.

There is something to suit everyone, from chicken nuggets and chips for the unimaginative, to show cooking, and fresh paella every night. We didn't get bored at all, and kids absolutely loved it.

They ate like kings every night. On Wednesdays they have a Sangria night with Sangria and Spanish appetisers on the terrace before dinner. The breakfasts are unparalleled also, fruit, cheese, different breads, cereal, cooked breakfasts, cold meat, absolutely everything you could wish for.

Everything is so fresh and well presented - no danger of food poisoning here!

The hotel is at the top of a hill, which we liked as there are welcome breezes to cool, and great views. The hotel runs a courtesy bus to Son Bou and the beach.

There is also a train which goes round the resort, though we never used either.

The staff work incredibly hard. They never stand still for long, if at all, and the service is very good in general, though the restaurant staff can be a bit surly.

The only thing which annoyed us is that they whip drinks and food away sometimes before they are finished. The staff never seem to get any time off, which worried us slightly.

The restaurant manager was in evidence every day we were there, as were all the other staff apart from those on reception.

The hotel is spotlessly clean and well organised.

Some of the entertainment was superb - Chinese acrobats and Riverdance tribute in particular. You have to get a good seat at the front, or often the view is very poor.

This difficult when the hotel is full- it gets very crowded.

Ond thing which did annoy us was that smoking is allowed apart from in the restaurant. Having people blow their fag smoke in your face as you sit with a drink is unpleasant, but hey, it's Spain!

There is an interesting cocktail menu, including alcohol free ones for children, which we enjoyed.

For kids and adults alike, there is air hockey, table tennis, pool tables, and gaming machines, though all these require money except table tennis which requires a refundable deposit. There is also tennis and boules available.

We throughly enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Son Bou itself is as yet small and undeveloped. Some of the other resorts we visited were horrendous.

Over developed and Ibiza-like. It's a worry that Menorca will be developed increasingly in the future, as seems likely.

Cituadella is beautiful, and we enjoyed Fornells. Didn't do much beach swimming as we found them too crowded and hot. The shopping in Cituadella was great, better than Mahon in our view.

We actually chose this hotel on the basis of reading reviews on this site so already had high expectations before our holiday. Despite this we were still very surprised by the high standards in the hotel.

Our room was very spacious and cleaned beautifully every day (and we left it pretty messy with a 2 year old around).

The food was excellent with lots of choice and we felt that we did get to eat some Spanish food as well as the usual pasta, pizza etc as there was a chef cooking different meats and fish each night and always a different paella on offer. The buffet was perfect for a fussy two year old too as it meant that rather than always play safe and order something from the childrens menu in a restaurant, we could offer her something more interesting and she could try it - she actually loved the grilled local fish for example.

We were also pleasantly surprised by the standard of the evening entertainment - not naff at all! It also meant that we could enjoy a drink and chat whilst our daughter played with the other young children.

We were only there a week so we didn't hire a car but we would have done so if we'd been there longer. However the bus to Mahon was only 3.70 euros for all 3 of us and only took 20 - 30 mins.

Mahon was worth a visit particularly on market day and the glass bottomed boat trip in the harbour and out into sea was great and very reasonably priced.

I don't usually go back to the same place twice but I would seriously consider going back again. Most of the people staying in the hotel the week we were there were Italian and French which surprised us.

We dont normally do this kind of thing but I have to say what a fantastic time we had. Our daughter is 4 and so was old enough to join in the clubs she loved the mini disco's on an evening we never saw her!!! Everything about the hotel was fantastic, clean accommodation fantastic pools and what can I say about the food but we have now all started on diets it was fantastic we will certainly be going back next year but for longer 7 days wasn't enough.

See you next year!!

Arrived at this resort around 11pm, was very impressed with the grand reception area.

The room was basic but nice, only thing that let it down was the air conditioning that consisted of a portable fan!

The food was brilliant for adults the kids were a bit limited to pizza or chicken nuggets.

The entertainment was ok for adults but excellent for kids, they loved it and were quite tearful when we were leaving. Even when they had clocked off they still had time for a drink and chat and if passing the kids during the day would always stop for a chat.

Shop in the hotel is very expensive, beach bus is a good idea to get back from the beach but the walk to the beach is actually quite nice with lovely views of the sea.

The hotel laundry service is very expensive, for the cost to wash and iron a pair of trousers you could buy a new pair!

All in all it was a brilliant holiday but we do recommend that you hire a car as the hotel is quite secluded.

We arrived at the hotel around half 11 in the morning to be greeted by the fantastic grand reception at the San Valentin.

Staff were very friendly and we were given a trolley to take our luggage to room. Arrived in our apartment and it was basic but very clean maid called everyday to see if you wanted sheets cleaning and towels changed.

Both kids and adult pools were cleaned and checked twice a day very clean.

Staff were all friendly and spoke some English.

Entertainment was very good for the adults but excellent for the kids the kids really enjoyed the mini disco from 8-9 pm. They also involved both adults and kids in their entertainment on an evening which our family did and enjoyed the experience.

Shop with in the hotel was expensive and so was the Lunn Poly supermarket.

All kids

We had an excellent holiday and seriously think about coming back next year although we've never went back to a same hotel before.

The staff is very friendly, from our arrival until the day we left we've always been greeted with a smile.

The food is delicious and a very wide variety. Even our children liked it. The restaurant staff works very fast so you'll never have to wait long.

The entertainment was fantastic! We loved all the evening shows, especially the Lion King!

The children loved every day in the miniclub and still talk about it every day. They made alot of new friends, although they are pretty shy.

All the entertainers are very friendly and always up for a friendly chat. Most of them speak several languages fluently, I don't think any nationality felt left out.

The free buss service to the town is great, except it stops early in the evening, one or two hours more would make it even better.

The only negative about this hotel is the distance to the towncentre and the beach, because there is quiet a big hill which is hard with small children late in the evening.

We strongly recommend this hotel to everyone!
