My first impression was that the hotel was very clean and well taken care of. The room we stayed in was also clean and quite big with all of the usual features, although I am glad we had taken our travel kettle and tea bags etc.
The hotel facilities were quite good with two pools (which were rather cold but one was quite pleasant when you got over the initial shock,)also a squash court, sauna and gym. There was also a jacuzzi but this was also very cold.
The pool bar served a good selection of food as did the restaurant, we only ate out once on our last evening with some friends we had met whilst at the hotel.
The entertainment was varied but quite strange, in fact it was because it was so bad that it was enjoyable because it was so funny!
The staff were polite and extremely nice and were very grateful when tipped.
The location was good because it was quiet and there was a shop nearby that sold all the essentials including dirt cheap ciggies! It was about a twenty minute walk into town but we found that the taxis were very cheap, less that 3 euros.
If we were planning another trip to this resort we wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

On arrival had to wait half hour till the room was ready, when we got to our room it was worth the wait.
Quite a large room, big wardrobes, fridge,tv, nice size balcony with chairs & table & drying lines.
Bathroom nice size plenty of room, with hairdrier.
Two swimming pools in hotel quite nice but on the cool side.
Went half board, plenty of food & plenty of choice but it did tend to be on the cold side.
Evening entertainment was ok but you got the impression the artists couldn't wait to finish and leave !.

The Arena hotel is a pleasant hotel, although the food needs alot of work.
However the restaurant staff are plesant and hard working. the hotel was clean and the location was quite good, only a short spin in the car to the main street in the town.
The town itself was very family focused. there are any nun=mber of trinket shops offering holiday souveneirs. The hotel is however in a residential area.
The hotel is designed like a American motel with a pool in the centre. The entertainment is a spanish one man band in the basement bar in the hotel. The guests in the hotel are mostly Spanish and the occasional English couple. The bar in the hotel stops serving drinks at 12 midnight, which is a bit ridiculous.
If you are not Spanish you might feel a bit left out as it is mostly Spanish staying there.
They might claim 4 star but I disagree. The San Antonio hotel in Lanzarote is what I would call four star the Arena is not even close.

My husband and I stayed in the Arena Hotel during April and the hotel was excellent. Food was hot, and well varied. We were very impressed indeed with everything about the hotel. The pool was very clean, and there were no problems getting a sunbed. No dawn run!!
Hotel was about 20-25minutes from centre of town but after a couple of days, we looked forward to the walk.
We used the local buses to visit other areas, and were impressed with the punctuality and cleanliness of the buses.
We took a fast trip to Lanzarote by boat (25mins), cost being 52 euros for two, return. The place we arrived at in Lanzarote was Playa Blanca, a lovely place to visit. Well worth the 52 euros.
A very enjoyable holiday and the hotel was excellent
