The Dunas Caleta or the Dunas Alisios as it is now known is one of the best hotels in Corralejo and wherever possible I try to get there.
The staff are brilliant and can all speak English but most of them are English anyway.
The food is also very well presented and enjoyable. They do a BBQ on a Thursday night (make sur you don't eat during the day as very filling)
They do a delicious roast dinner on a Sunday evening which you have to book due to demand.
Entertainment- well depends on what you are there for. Family's with kids it's great but don't cater for older couples or couples without kids.

We have stayed here 3 times altogether and have booked to go back in March with our daughter and grandson.

We have been at different times of the year and have allways found it a1.

The staff are so friendly always helpful. The cleaners are very polite and allways leave the room spotless. It is so close to everything you need.

We eat at the waikiki beach restaurant which is on the white beach.

The pool is cleaned everyday as is the whole complex. Its palm tree laiden grounds give it an oasis feel, quiet, calm, relaxing.

I cant say enough about the place and I would recommend it (as I have to friends)to anyone

This was one of the best holidays our family has ever been on and we have already made plans to visit this hotel next year!
The rooms were cleaned almost every day and the beds were made every day. Clean towels were provided every 2 days and did not smell horrible or dirty but clean and well washed. The maids spent ages cleaning each room with attention and care. We went out every night to eat so we didn't sample the hotel food but plenty of people did and had no complaints. You are spoilt for choice of restaurants, there is everything from traditional Spanish restaurants to Mexican to Chinese. The Chinese chain "Slow boat" is to die for and we would recommend it.There is a wide selection of bars and pubs . We would recommend that you visit the racing bar above the steak house, next door to the Rock Cafe! We watched the hypnotism and it was absolutely fab!!!
We booked an excursion on a catamaran and it was brilliant. There was an oppurtunity to go on a jet ski and snorkle in the middle of the unspoilt, unpolluted sea. The hotel in my oppinion was the best out of all of the hotels we seen and was only a 5 minuite walk from the main stretch of restaurants and bars. This meant that you couldnt hear much when you were going to sleep but you also didnt have to walk far to the main entertainment. The hotel staff were friendly were always happy to help. Gary the head of entertainment was good and did volcano walks every week. He was helpful and funny! We did win a general knowledge quiz and won a jug of sangria much to our delight!
As I said earlier we will definitley be returning to this hotel!

We stayed at the Dunas Caleta from the 17th to the 31st July.

Our room was spacious and the kitchen facilities were good. We ate out every night but if you wanted to eat in the apartment then there are ample plates, utensils, sauce pans and a frying pan etc.

The decor is quite dated although it was kept very clean by the maids who came round everyday except sunday. The only thing I would warn you about is the black furniture! If you sit on the stools in the kitchen area with bare legs or lean against the arms of the sofa with bare arms you get black bits of paint stuck to you, although they do brush off!

The bathroom is good, the shower is quite powerful and there was always hot water no matter what time you want it.

In our room we couldnt shut the door of the bathroom without putting the toilet seat up first! We were also given clean towels everyday which was great

The pool area is lovely, kept very clean and tidy.

We went in the height of the season and there was not always enough sunbeds to go around which was disappointing! The main pool is very very deep so not great for smaller children as there is no shallow end!

The bar served decent enough snacks for during the day although we tended to eat out as there are so many restaurants close by.

The complex is in a great location, everything is in walking distance, approx 10 - 15 mins to the harbour and only 100 yards to the nearest supermarket and the main street.

The kids club was great, Rachel and Craig did a brilliant job, my daughter really enjoyed it.

The evening entertainment was indoors in the bar area so we didnt see much of it as it was way too hot to be inside without air con for too long. It would be better outside.

All in all we enjoyed our stay and think the Dunas was a good choice!

Spent two weeks at Dunas Caleta from 11/07/07-25.07/07 and had a fantastic time. Reception is manned by almost all British staff and the Spanish ones can speak excellent English.

The rooms are spacious and well equipped, with a kettle, toaster, microwave and even a sandwich maker,a coin operated tv which gives you 30 mins for 50 Cents thankfully a fan is also supplied. Air conditioning would have been appreciated but it cools down significantly at night time so it didnt cause too much discomfort. We slept with the bedroom windows slightly open which helped enormously.

The pool has steps going down to it and is the same depth throughout, approx 5ft which could cause problems for young children but there is a baby pool for toddlers.

There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool if used responsibly, our first week proved no problem and you could get one no matter what time you got up, the second week was a different matter, the main English holidays kicked in and the dawn patrol were out in force, claiming beds they had no intentions of using till mid-afternoon which was annoying and could have caused problems. Umbrellas can be obtained from reception for a 5 Euro deposit, these are then yours with the deposit returned at the end of your holiday.

Safe deposit boxes are bolted into the floor inside the cupboard in the appartment and are rented for 24 Euros for a fortnight..very reasonable..to be honest there were a few incidents of theft while we were there..but these were all due to valuables being left in open view and all windows and doors were checked by the maintenance people while we were there.

I have never seen so many cleaners!!! the whole pool area was cleaned every day apart from Sunday with the rooms cleaned 5 times a week and new towels every day.
Even though, you still get the feeling that the whole complex could do with a makeover..from the occasional broken tile to peeling paint the complex looked tired, but dont let the cosmetics put you off. Nikki, Gary and the on-site entertainment team are fantastic and cater for all ages, from organising the football tennis and water polo to appearing and starring in the evening shows they were always around and if you couldnt see them you would hear them..a fantastic bunch who help to make this a wonderfull familly complex.

The pool bar is extreemely good value for money, 2.80 Euros for a large beer with 2 for 1 at happy hour 5pm-6pm and good quality snacks eg.. chicken burger and chips for 4 euros meant that it was very popular, you must give the barbecue night a try..12 Euros for a plate-full you will struggle to eat plus salad and pasta with a half litre of Sangria for the adults and a soft drink for the kids will give you a night to remember.

Nightly entertainment was also good, nightly kiddies disco and a wide variety of free shows mean you dont have to leave the complex to be entertained. The restaurants are also excellent, from Mexican to Chinese to Italian to fish caught locally there is something for everyone, our favourite was the Italian pizzeria, you can find this by leaving the complex and walking down the main street, go fast the green man who will blow you big bubbles if you put a coin in his hat, it is up the stairs on the right next to a steak house..the pizzas are fantastic and I defy you to finish the meat platter for two...

The resort is fairly small and caters mainly for families although there are some bars for the young ones up the stairs in the Atlantico centre, down the very bottom next to the gay bar is a great family bar called "The venue".. Beers at 2.50 euros, nightly quizes and free playstation games for the kids to play gives the adults a chance to relax.

All in all we really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely go back in a couple of years.

This place made it a great Family Holiday.

Excellent clean pool for the kids and the parents of course! Plenty of Sun Beds around the pool, and no word of a lie it was sometimes 10am before the first towel appeared, and there were so many beds there was no need to be out @ the crack of dawn laying claim to your sun bed for the day.

Did Self Catering, but the Bar serve excellent snacks for the family around the pool; my 5 year would recommend the Hot Dog and my 2 year old the Cheese Toasty.

Gary & Nicky also during the day laid on the daily Football Tennis and Water Polo comps, which made for some cracking ties and loud cheers.

Had an apartment (D18) that looked across from the pool, and this was excellent for the day (pool access etc), but also @ the evening with having a young family meant the noise from the evening entertainment didn

We stayed at this hotel for one week.

Hated every minute of it , there were ants all over our room and had to fight to get back to our room at night because there was that many cockroaches!!! and once you got to the room there were more in there.

There was security walking around all night and when walking around the hotel was full of locals.

Bar staff were rude and ALWAYS closed the bar early.

We changed rooms in the end because there were that many ants and cockroaches!

Would not recommend at all!

Our first visit to the Dunas Caleta was in Aug/Sept 2005, we then went back Feb/Mar 2006,Aug/Sept 2006 and Mar/Apr 2007. As you can see on average we try to visit th Dunas every six months. In fact I am due to go out again 3rd Oct 2007 for two weeks as it is the place I want to celebrate my 50th birthday.

Although not a 5 star complex this is only because of the decor. I would recommend the Dunas Caleta to anyone with or without family. It is an ideal place to spand your time either as a single person, a couple or a family...whatever you are you ar always made ot feel welcome.

ALL IN ALL I WOULD GIVE THE DUNAS CALETA ***** EVEN IF THE TOUR AGENTS DON'T.

Oh and possibly very soon this is not going to be a Thomson only hotel so will be able to book direct or through alternative agents

We stayed at the Dunas Caleta for a week over Christmas 2006.

We booked an allocation on arrival and, for the price we paid, weren't expecting much!!

When we arrived at the accommodation, check in was very fast and friendly. The apartments were fine, could do with a refurb, but adequate (with microwave, sandwich toaster etc). Our first impression of the pool/bar area was "Butlins Abroad" but I have to say it was one of the best holidays we have had.

Staff were brilliant, there were some good shows on in the evening (which we went back to watch - a first for us), Gary and Nicky were great with the kids, drinks and snacks were reasonably priced.

Wouldn't be disappointed if we ended up here again on a late deal but wouldn't be happy if I paid the full brochure price. Walk into town was about 15 minutes and there are loads of place to eat and drink. Our favourite was Restaurant Eve (just off Music Square).

Would definitely return to Fuerteventura, we thought it beat Tenerife and Lanzarote hands down.

There was obvious damp and mould on the ceiling sof both the bathroom and the bedroom and the smell fo the damp was throughout the whole apatment.

It was imposible to sit out on the patio because there was an overpowering smell of drains and sewage. The ktchen area was very shabby and rundown, the microvave was rusty and the fridge leaked.

We spent as little time as possible in the apartment or at the complex.
