We cannot fault the staff and the service, except the standard and time for room cleaning varied from day to day. The 11th floor at first was a bit scary but gave great views, the first floor rooms seemed to be shaded by trees. The 'beach' is extremely small and the brochure doesnt make it clear that it is black sand. There was a good selection of food although we did witness children fingering a variety of the desserts! Hygiene standards of the catering staff seemed very high. The location for us was fine but for anyone wanting more nightlife it is a short and cheap taxi ride away. The reps have plenty of enthusiasm and energy working from early morning until late at night.

It is a family hotel and the children are well catered for but we were appalled that so many children had been taken out of school so soon after the summer holidays.

We stayed in this hotel last year and was completely unsuspecting of what it may bring. Went with hubby and two young kids. The rooms were fantastic. I could lie in bed and see the sea. My youngest did fall over near the steps in the room ( yes the rooms are split level)and split her head open on a protruding ledge. The staff were excellent at this time and got her in the doctors surgery round the corner in minutes. This failed to ruin our holiday.

All the staff especially Big daddy made the holiday. Felt completely at home. Food was good but the rooms made it for us. Loved it so much will take the rest of the family back next year. The hotel is in a cul de sac surrounded by an italian feel precinct which is all lit up at night. This made it for us!Fantastic

We have just returned from the Hotel Orquidea and we have had a fantastic time. Everything about this hotel was excellent!

There was plenty of food to choose from even for the kids. The weather was really hot the breeze just made it bareable to sit out in. The pool area was great the kids loved going from one pool to the other, it was a little cold but it didn't bother us that much as it was nice to cool down in.

The staff were very pleasant. The rooms were very spacious and clean, the maids were excellent. The entertainment staff Big Daddy, Jo-Slo, Special K and Top Banana James, well what can I say? They were excellent we had a great time joining in with both the day time and night time entertainment. Andy especially enjoyed the guests v reps games and I even managed to win a superfamily t-shirt, even the kids thought they were great.

Last but not least the kids club. The kids wanted to go everyday they really enjoyed it we never had any problem getting them in. The kids reps were fantastic with them, they even wanted to go to the evening clubs and at

The staff were all very friendly and helpfull.

The food was very good and we eat enough of it!!....i'm dreading going back this time as it will be for 2 weeks so that will mean a major diet!

As they have to cater for so many people and different nationality's they do a great job.

The Orquidea was an excellent hotel, the views, the pool, the food, the staff and especially the Reps, Special K, Top Bannana, Jo Slow (do you water artificial flower's!?!?), And of course Big Daddy, they were relentless, working hard from day to night, even stopping late to have a drink with departing guests and seeing them off on departure.

We enjoyed the entertainment and ventured out into the village a few times. Garbo's was a must do, and I strongly reccommend, Broken Dreams.

We met a family who we now class as good friends, and every afternoon we drop the kids at kids club and went over to broken dreams and had several jugs of Sangria and I have to say it was the second best Sangria I have have ever tasted ( having now tried Billies Sangria!), but up until this point it was the best Sangria I had tried.

I would definately go back and intend to do so.

Thanks to all for a great holiday.

We have just returned from the Hotel Orquieda and our summary is a pure definition of the word AVERAGE!

You know the saying "You get what you pay for"? Well, never has a saying been so true!

This hotel is not a 4**** and is really hovering around 3***. I am thinking of starting a campaign to get Thomson to re-classify their brochure!

NEGATIVES: Food monotonous......lack of air-con is a joke in the 21st century.......pools freezing cold.......smoking allowed everywhere (my kids are asthmatic)........beach dirty and sea dangerous......bar prices a rip-off, where's Watchdog?!!

POSITIVES: Entertainment great for kids.......rooms big and clean.........great sea views.

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Orquidea Hotel and what a brilliant holiday we had.

The food was excellent, i think we only had the same thing once or twice, the kids loved having their own buffet. The restaurant staff were always very friendly and more than happy to help when my daughter threw up in the dining room!!

The hotel was very clean and well presented, the only problems we had were with the lifts which kept breaking down and having to carry a pushchair up 5 flights of stairs is not fun, even worse if you are on the 11th floor, and the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. The maid service was excellent, the rooms were kept tidy and the towels and bed linen were changed every day.
The kids loved the 3 pools, which were always clean, but cold, although quite nice as it was so hot.
The entertainment was brilliant, Big Daddy and co were fantastic, the kids loved it, we now have to listen the the Thompson the dog CD 24/7, well it feels like it anyway!!

This hotel is no good if you don't have children, we are definately thinking of returning next year.

We have only just returned two days ago from the Hotel Orquedia in Bahia Feliz, and we have spent most of the last two days talking about nothing else.

The rooms were immaculately clean, the cleaner vists the room every day and cleans everything (even the railings on the balcony's), the food was excellent with a wide choice for all tastes and the staff throughout the whole hotel from the cleaners to the receptionist's are really helpful and there is always someone available to help.
My 3 year old son broke a glass in the room and as we had nothing to clean the broken glass up with i had to tell the receptionist.whilst i was there he rang through to the cleaners and got someone there pretty much straight away, nothing was too much trouble.

The Thompson team were brilliant always available and very friendly and helpful, Big daddy is a star!! along with Jo Slo!,Boney Ben and the rest of the team they wil make you feel more than welcome, how they work that hard and keep smiling all day is a miracle especially whilst wearing some of the outfits they were working in. it's worth the trip just to see Big Daddy in a leotard!!and the broadway nights and riverdance were really worth seeing.i can't praise these guys enough!

The pool area is really worth the visit as there aren't many hotels with three pools and my children (aged 3 and 6) absoultely loved it, and we felt totally safe, which is important with small children.

The only concern was no air conditioning as we had a bit of a heat wave with temperatures sometime's in the 40's although i'm told this is not a regular occurence this did not spoil the holiday, i just slept on the balcony on hotter nights.

my sister in law who came with us with her partner is Pregnant and this is obviously going to be a concern for next year, were do we go with a six month old baby?, however the team at Hotel Orquidea treated us so well this year and have given us the confidence to use Thompson superfamily next year.

don't spend too long reading this though, if your thinking about going just book it, you won't be dissapointed!!

Have just returned from the Orquidea and was most disappointed - I have been to better 2 star hotels! The main problem was the restaurant it was too small for the number of people staying in the hotel. It was more like "Sid's Caff" than a 4 star restaurant. The staff couldn't even be bothered to lay the tables properly at breakast - your knife fork and spoon were just plonked in a mug on your table complete with a jug of stewed coffee. The food was very repetitive - if you are there for a fortnight you'll get exactly the same for the second week as you did the first. This hotel is in desperate need of air conditioning. It was over 40 degrees when we were there and my partner slept out on the balcony for the last three nights. Although I would not go back to this hotel - the Thomson reps are absolutely fantastic and they make it without them it would be hell. As one women called it - it's a third rate holiday camp in the sun.

This is a great hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel staff were very friendly, and the room cleaners did an excellent job.

The food was very good, except there was not a lot of choice for vegetarians. It was also very monotonous!

The pools were a very good size, but quite shallow.

The entertaiment was the best we've seen around. The shows were great and the outside acts were good to.

You couldn't fault the location, right on the beach, and a lovely Italian style courtyard with bars, restaurants, 2 games arcades, 2 internet cafes (2 euros for an hour) and lots of gift shops.

I'd definitely go back.
