The Dunas Mirador is a fairly new hotel which has one major design fault......STEPS!! In the accommodation block to which we were orginally allocated the only access was via a flight of steps, which proved impossible for an elderly lady with mobility problems in our party.
We were moved to a block with a lift and all was well. There are quite a few ramps around the complex, but the only entertainment was in the Disco, which could only be accessed by a flight of steps up and then a descending flight of steps. So we were never able to see any of the shows, as we didn't choose to leave my friend's mum alone.
The hotel itself is bright, clean with spacious though rather basic accommodation.
There is no air conditioning and cold drinks etc can only be kept cool by hiring a fridge at 40 euros a week.
We were 'all inclusive' and free drinks were available in the Pool Bar only and restaurant at meal times. Drinks purchased at the pool bar could not be taken into the hotel, so during the evenings when it was quite chilly, we went to the Pool Bar wearing our fleeces!
The double pool area is excellent. It is large with plenty of sunbeds and parasols, and no-one had any need to 'book' a sunbed with towels. It was very well maintained and regularly cleaned.
The food which was the same for both half-board and all inclusive guests, was palatable but were boil-in-the-bag, tinned or packet meals which were heated and served into metal containers and soon lost heat. There were freshly prepared salads and each day there was freshly grilled meat or fish on offer, though sometimes the quality was a little dubious. Basically the food was ok, but we have been all inclusive at other 3 star hotels and have eaten much better.
The Hotel isn't listed in any British brochures at the moment so the guests were mainly from Holland, Spain and some from Germany, although there was a sprinkling of British families during our stay, and everyone, whatever nationality, was very friendly and pleasant.
