Location
The hotal is so clean you would not belive. The staff will help you every time. They are never rude or try to get out of doing somthing for you.
The location is great, the beach is a two minute walk and there is some shops just outside the hotel.
There is sun beaming down on you all day when you are at the pool. There is a road outside but you cannot hear the cars beacause the hotel has music on most of the time ( not very loud ).
The entertainment is great there is somthing for everyone ie children and adults. The entertainment starts at 11 in the morning and finishes at about 12 at night.
If you want a great hoilday then this is a hotel you must stay at. The only problem we had was are rep from Thomas Cook. She never turned up, but thats nothing to do with the hotel which was great.

However this time we encountered a noise problem but the hotel staff quickly sorted the problem (noisy guests next door ie loud music and shouting at 4am in the morning).
The entertainment was of a very poor standard in so far as a complete lack of professionalism. Enzo Grilo was the person responsible before and the entertainment was faultless.
However we will consider going back.

The location was on the edge of the town and whoever had built the hotel had not given any thought to the sun. It was in fact built the wrong way round with the front of hotel in the sun and the pool area in the shade. You constantly had to move to keep any sun on you at all and at any one point, one part of your body was in the shade.
There was only one (very small) section that caught the sun all day and surprise, surprise, all the sun beds were gone long before breakfast. A large number of German guests which were predominately catered for by the hotel. We met one or two who were lovely but the rest were the absolute stereotype you thought no longer existed - rude, pushing you out of the way and nicking all the sunbeds.
The brochure said it was near the main street which did not do it justice at all, it was like pitching a sunbed next to the M25, the noise was VERY intrusive.
The entertainment was purile suitable for the terminally senile.
We would definitely never stay there again, nor it has to be said would we go back to Gran Canaria.

The majority of the staff are ignorant, and entertainment for English is no existent. But for the internet room, my granddaughter would have had nothing to do.
We would not visit again.
When I or my husband went to the bar for a drink, they told us we could'nt have one until we'd finished the one we had, and they would only give 1 drink.
We kept having to make 3 trips each time to the bar for a drink each!
And the staff are very unfriendly. If you are German or Dutch, you'd be fine, as this is the staffs second language, not English.
They don't seem to like us at this hotel.

I would reccommend this hotel as it is more than worthy of its three star rating.
Overall a great holiday.

The restaurant was magnificent with so much choice and special themed evenings. (It was a known fact that the islands First Choice Reps travelled for miles to eat in the Hotel Continental on Mexican Theme night). There were three swimming pools, all with attractive water features and the gardens were immaculate. The main pool was a hive of activity for a good part of the day, whilst the smaller pools were for the true sun-worshippers who do not move off their sunbeds from dawn to dusk. By the way, Beach towels were not permitted to be laid on sunbeds that were unoccupied, if you disobeyed this rule you found you were collecting your Beach towels from Reception. Just one small comment to make on the Hotel Continental, the sun and shade. Because of the location of the hotel, the sun was not directly on the pool for the early part of the day, but on the other hand there was alway some shady areas to retreat to when you had had enough of the rays. The evening entertainment was varied. Some evenings outside acts would visit the hotel, whilst other evenings it was the First choice entertainment team who were performing. Advise - Pick your evenings. The Yumbo Centre was an experience not to be missed, although some may be offended. If I say the Drag Acts were superb, I think you can guess what the area is renowned for. My daughter is now a Travel consultant and recommends the Hotel IFA Continental to all ages and so far not one customer has reported a bad experience. If you are thinking of booking - ignore the small photograph in the brochure it does not do the hotel justice and ask for a room overlooking the pool if possible. Some rooms look out onto the Motorway, but this did not detract from us having a super holiday.
