Walhalla rooms are very big, although kitchen facilities, two cooking rings, inadequate.

Plenty of sunbeds but not many umbrellas and you have to get up and put your towels out early.

Just a short walk to beach but some apartments can hear traffic noise.

Staff very friendly.

No entertainment, Xmas songs played in bar in evening, very nice. They now have two pool tables which is good seeing as this is the only thing that is there for the kids to do.

Would probably book again, the only reason I booked originally was because the apartments had two bed rooms.

Must visit Britannia restaurant in Gran Chaparral commercial centre, wonderful food

The Walhalla Apartments are very good on cleanliness with a maid visiting rooms every day except Thursdays and Sundays. A good thorough clean was done with replacement towels and bed sheets. The furniture of the room was good and the chairs were comfortable. There was plenty of space for a family of four to live in and not throttle each other.

As the hotel is self-catering, meals are meant to be made in the room however this was quite difficult with no oven/grill, only two cooking rings and no toaster or kettle (which needed to be hired) - yet there was a fridge/freezer, cups and plates, knives and forks, etc so were able to have simple meals such as cereal and toast (we took our own toaster and kettle) for breakfast, tuna sandwiches for dinner and then we ate out for evening meal at the many different restaurants around close by.

There was also a pool-side bar that served drinks and small meals such as hamburgers, chips and pizza. A barbeque is held on Wednesday at night which we didn't go to but looked ok for around 9 euros.

The location is quite good with a short walk to a supermarket and also Shenanigans (a fun pub), the Red Cow (an Irish restaurant) and the Prisma shopping centre. The Yumbo centre is always good for entertainment, eating and shopping which wasn't far to walk. Anywhere else that needed to be found could be accessed via taxi - plenty around and quite cheap compared to Britain.

The hotel staff were quite helpful however they didn't always understand English and half of the time there was no-one in reception. Luckily we didn't have much to complain about so it was ok.

There isn't much entertainment like other hotels have, but the pool-side bar does offer a nice drink and music during the day if sat around the pool.

There are plenty of sunbeds but towels do need to be put out early as people are very eager. The pool area overall seemed clean and the pool was nice to swim in.

We very much enjoyed our holiday and would go back to the Walhalla again.

Please do not think that from my opinion you will enjoy your holiday if staying at the Walhalla as someone else staying there at the same time had much to complain about. And also different times of the year will make a difference such as the pool-side bar which may be closed in winter months!

For recommendations of restaurants and places to go, see the resort reviews.

We stayed at the Walhalla in July 2005 we had a bungalow which was accessed up 2 flights of steps. 2 bathrooms 2 bedrooms very spacious also access to main road through private gate which saved us those steps. The bungalow was very clean and maids came 5 times per week.

Location of the hotel is excellent 2 mins from Yumbo centrum and 5 mins from beach.

Hotel staff were ok never had any cause to speak to them much so couldn't say whether they were good or bad.

Entertainment at the hotel is nil apart from a snack bar that played music during the day.

Swimming pool was clean and plenty of sun loungers to go round.

We liked Gran Canaria so much we are going to the same hotel again this July 2006. We didn't have any problems with anything going missing.

Went as a group of 4 lads (aged 19/20) with high hopes of having a holiday of a lifetime! ...didn't work out that way.

Walhalla receptionist and manager were very ignorant and unhelpful. Refused to cash our travellers cheques and blamed ANY noise around the apartments on us with official written warnings. The staff always looked at us suspiciously which really didn't let us enjoy our holiday as much as we should've. It is very family orientated, we never felt welcome here!

On the plus side, the pool area was nice and spacious despite being right next to the road. Bar food was cheap and tasty. Bar and pool area always clean.

Apart from the problems we had at Walhalla, we spent as much time away from the apartments as possible and had a great time. The apartments are well located for everything, and easy enough to find your way back home to after a night out!

Walhalla Apartments - previous reviews had left us concerned about what to expect but we were really happy with what we found.

The apartment was spacious and clean. All apartments have balconies which are pool facing.

The pool area was clean and safe.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

There is obvously a commitment to making things even better with new showers and toilets close to the pool. The pool bar was nice with good value food and drinks including a 2 for 1 happy hour 5-6.

The location was ideal while still being quiet - it was 5 mins walk from the Yumbo centre and the beach. It was also close to the Kasbah though we never walked there.

have just returned from 1st holiday to Gran Canaria. previous reports left me feeling slightly uneasy about the holiday. however, on arrival was pleasantly surprised at size of apartment. the apartments were clean and spacious. you do have to hire items such as kettles, toasters etc if reqd but as we ate out all the time i did not find this neccesary. would highly recommend Jennys International Bar and Restaurant - 2 mins walk away uphill on the right - friendly family run business , great food at great prices!! all apartments having balconies overlooking pool area. there is a pool side snack bar which was great and reasonably priced. staff were polite and friendly. centrally located to beach and shopping centre and local eateries. overall cannot fault the apartments and if returning to Playa Del Ingles would choose these apartments again.

Couldn't really fault the Walhalla apartments in any way.

They were exceptionally clean and ideally situated for the beach and commercial centres, as they were only a short walk away but not to near so that you were disturbed by the noise.

My only issue was that despite the hotels policy, holidaymakers had their whole families towels on the loungers from early in the morning, which I don't normally mind, but sometimes you wouldn't see these families by the pool for hours on end.

In the evenings go to Shananigans in the Prisma centre at the top of the road. Once we discovered it, we were there every night.

We will definately look at staying at Walhalla again in the near future.

Apartments were spacious, basic, and clean. We went here with 2 other families and the 13 of us all found the apartments to be alright. Family who stayed on the ground floor had cockroaches in at night till they sprayed then had none. We and the other family had no cockroaches in at all.

Pool was cleaned every morning. Put towels out on loungers about 8am to get good ones as we needed at least 10 of them together. Staff were really friendly and helpful. 3 pool tables around pool area which kids loved. You do have to be quiet at night or watchman will come to apartment.

Took our own travel kettle and iron, can hire all types of electrical equipment from reception. Did not eat in at night as our cooker kept tripping the electric when on, it was fixed but kept happening the other families cookers were alright though. Walhalla is situated very central close to the beach, yumbo etc... Taxis are really cheap to get around with.

Loads of places nearby to eat our favourite place to eat at which was really cheap and excellent huge portions of food and for nightly entertainment was at Finnegan

Visited Gran canaria for the first time & was not to impressed with the apartment.

On arrival our neighbours said welcome to hell!. They informed us that all apartments were broken into the night before. The lock on the door was a complete nightmare to lock due to break in.

Apartment was clean & very large but we did have a few unwanted visitors (cokroaches!)

Pool area was clean & no charge for sun loungers.

Would not rate it a AAA+ more a AA+

Our Family stayed at the Walhalla Apartments from 2/8/04 - 13/8/04 and had a brilliant time, the apartments were very clean as was the pool, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Airtours Rep was really helpful and a great laugh (Leanne - Crazy girl), if you get to meet her you will understand, if you see her say hi from us she will know who you mean!
The apartments are very close to the beach and the Yumbo Centre, plenty of places to eat and good value.
The poolside bar is run by David & Sonia and they are really nice people, whatever else you have heard on these apartments, believe me you will have a great time
