I have been to 50+ different hotels in my lifetime. This has got to top it as the worst. My family and I stayed here during August of 2021, I’ll take you through a timeline of our stay. Including a delightful ant infestation. Prepare yourselves.
Days 1-3: Our party was split into two double rooms, during these first three days collectively we went back and fourth on the fairly long walk from reception to our rooms around 10 times. No exaggeration we had to walk to reception 10 times or more because of continued issues with our room keys and locks on our doors.
Day 4: Half of our party changed rooms due to continued issues with the keys that could not be fixed by any of the staff. This was the first room change.
Day 5-6: Issues with keys continued and we went back and forth to reception three times a day to receive new keys for our doors. The entire holiday, keys were kept away from mobile devices and used correctly but the locks on the doors didn’t seem to agree.
Day 7: In the room that half of our party were moved to, then came the ant infestation. It took hours to get reception to send someone to our room to get rid of the ants and it felt like a fight to get a different room to sleep in for that one night as our beds were covered in thousands ants, reception said they would clean it and that we could sleep in there that night...this was at 11pm. They said there were no more rooms. We said no. A room then magically became available. Part of the family then stayed in a new room temporarily for the one night. It had a hospital gurney in there.
Day 8: The other half of the party, still in their original room then had to move rooms as reception could still not fix the issues with their keys. They were moved into a double room, worse than their original one as I believe it was one of the older rooms yet to be refurbished.
Days 9: After the ant infestation, the party had returned to their second room after it was cleaned until this day when the ants started to return, this time on all of our belongings, on both beds, and on the balcony. This is when they were moved to their FOURTH room during our 10 day stay. After the move and arriving at the new room, the new keys didn’t work again and they had to return to reception with new ones.
The pools are SALTWATER apart from the small kids area. The Mini-Golf course is more depressing than the family cat being run over. Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen were the stars of our trip. The Thai restaurant was delicious, the Steakhouse and Italian’s food was average. A complimentary ‘Privilege’ visit to one of the restaurants in the hotel was gifted to us on our last day due to all of the issues we had, the food on the menu their was lacklustre and overpriced. During the restaurant visit I felt like I had been fed secret psychedelics and was attending a kids birthday party as all of a sudden in this seemingly fancy, quiet restaurant, the beast and belle from
Beauty and the beast stormed in and danced for about 2 minutes. I felt like I was dreaming. If you told me that I had taken LSD that night I would have believed you, the food tastless, weird and unsatisfying. And ‘hot’ food served in the normal buffet was almost always cold. The decor in the rooms...think...Travelodge. I wanted to love this trip & hotel and it seemed to have the potential to be a really great resort. Some great-bar staff and one guy on reception was really helpful, but had at least 5 bad encounters with staff during the whole stay.
I would describe myself as a positive and fair person, who always goes into someone looking and hoping for the best and this wasn’t it.
Overall I would rate it a 2/10.
Give this one a miss folks.

Hotel tip: Don’t stay here. I would stay under a rock on the beach in Playa Blanca over this.

Hotel tip: Block 9027 is central and near to hub of hotel.
We had a twin room with 2 double beds and it could easily fit in a third. The bathroom was large with regular change of towels, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. There was a small fridge, a safe costing 17 euros, pool towels were available on returnable deposit of 10 euros (50 cents if you wanted to change them) and free air conditioning. We found only 2 small drawers and there weren't enough hangers in the wardrobe (10 total) but a call to reception is all that is needed. We also obtained a kettle from them. We picked up tea, coffee and milk from the dining room when we needed them.
We enjoyed the choice of breakfast and lunch but dinner left a lot to be desired (especially if like me you don't enjoy fish). The vegetables came out hot but soon cooled down although staff regularly changed the trays. There is a small food counter for children in the large dining area. There is also food at the pool bar until 6pm (burgers, toasties, hotdogs, chips, salad, and fresh fruit)
We chose to sunbathe at the top pool where it is a lot quieter, no music blaring out or being forced to do something by the animation team! You do have finally get up to get lunch though as there isn't a pool bar. There were plenty of sunbeds around and there are signs up to say do not put towels out to reserve them.
It was a brisk 30 min walk into the centre of Playa Blanca along the pleasant esplanade. We enjoyed The Old Mill (an Irish bar) where there was a live singer/guitarist. Entertainment at the hotel is mediocre for adults. The staff work hard at the Piano Bar which is very busy at peak times. All inclusive - don't forget to ask for Gordons Gin by name otherwise you get the local stuff - look at the drinks menu for a full list.
The hotel has 2 gates that lead onto the esplanade
The hotel staff were helpful and pleasant (they also got us the quickest-ever taxis into Play Blanca centre - 4.6 euros). There is bus stop outside the hotel which is about 1.3 euros
There is a free Wi-Fi area in reception and if you forget your charger for your ipad etc there is a small shop in the complex.
There are parts of the hotel which look a bit tired and could do with a coat of paint but generally the garden areas and the almost Moorish appearance are the thing you notice most.

We went shopping in Playa Blanca for presents for grandchildren, when we got back to room we dropped off presents and went down for lunch. When we returned my wife noticed the room had been cleaned, then she noticed her handbag had been tampered with. There was her purse and 145 euros missing. We reported it to reception and holiday rep Katie, they were both very good about it, but we were never told the outcome of any investigation into the missing money. We later found the purse hidden under the bed empty of course. The maids leave the doors wide open when they are cleaning,so beware!!!!
