This was our second stay two week stay at The Rubicon Palace, having stayed there for the exact same weeks last year.

Whilst this hotel is still a very nice there were several things that we felt the standards had slipped in and although we still had a lovely holiday we felt the hotel had lost a bit of its gloss and perhaps needed a bit of umph to bring it back up to it

Just returned from this holiday on the 10th july, and would like to say how great this hotel is. Myself and my partner went with two friends.

We have stayed at three 4* hotels and this one over shadows the other two by miles. The reception staff, entertainment team and restrurant staff were extremely helpful and welcoming and always said ola when passing.

The food was very nice with different meats being cooked every night by request. There were theme nights also in alternate resturants. The hotel is unfortunate not to have a beach outside although there are 2 small beaches 1 either side that can be sun bathed on or the sea is accessable but the main beach is about 20-25 minute walk away which for us was I nice stroll.

The snorkelling at this beach is really good as there are lots of bigger and more colourfull fish around the rockery.

The hotel entertainment was good, the game shows tend to be a bit sided towards the spanish but most of the actual shows are English i.e. 'we will rock u' and grease.

The cleaners were also polite even though most do not speak English but do say hello when passing. The reception staff were very helpful as they book several excursions for us as we were unable to find any excursion shops. The animation team also speak a range of languages.

The hotel is a spectacular sight. The main reception area is enormous with internet access (1euro for 10 mins) and a bar which has live piano and singers of an evening with and outside view of the pool and across to fuetuventura.

The next level down houses the entertainment room of the evening. The next level houses the 2 resturants that are for the half board and all inclusive customers.

Constantly through the day there are staff watering the plants, checking the pool water condition which I have never seen before, on one instance they drained one of the baby pools and refilled also they are always cutting the grass or the trees and generally maintaining the complex.

The pool bar serves burgers, hot dogs, chips etc at lunch time.

The room was spacious and cleaned to a high stanard.

Absolute fabulous hotel will definately go back looking a booking for November.

I just came back from the Rubicon and would just like to comment on how wonderful it was. I am from Canada and from what I gather, there are a few people who are very hard to please.

Not all spanish people are rude or pushy perhaps it's a cultural thing that some have failed to notice. I have done my fair share of travelling and this resort is top notch for being a 4*.

Food excellent, resort is large, keep and open mind and you'll have a relaxing vacation as that is why you leave your country right??

Large rooms, great pools, friendly staff. Thoughly enjoyed our stay. It's a bit of a walk into Playa Blanca but that makes the hotel very quiet at night. Very clean and tidy.

Lovely hotel, plenty of food, location was a bit out of the way, had a long walk to playa blanca.

This hotel is seafront, not beachfront like we were told, if you want a beach the closest one is 3km away.

We paid for a beachfront holiday, with having small children they love the beach, but it certainly was not outside the rubicon palace.

We have just returned from the rubicon palace having spent a week there,we arrived at the rubicon having upgraded from another complex.

The hotel itself was very clean the rooms were cleaned regularly on one occasion the maid had taken the time to bleach our travel cups (tip here take your own travel kettle as none was provided). We never saw one cockroach during our whole stay at the rubicon.

The hotel is quite large but it is laid out in seperate blocks all accompanied with their own pool.

The hotel itself is a colonial style with contemporary decor to the rooms, which were quite spacious containing two double beds.

The food was fantastic, lots of variety fish, meats, pizza, salads, pasta, and chefs cooking fresh food on the themed evenings, the chinese was delicious my daughter especially enjoyed the fresh pancakes cooked in the morning.

The drinks were fine with a good choice although if your not used to drinking ice cold red wine this may come as a shock.(if you ask they will bring room temp wine).

The location was at the far end of the resort a bit away from playa blanca around 50 mins walk to the centre, but their is a pleasant walkway which runs alongside the sea.

For the less energetic there is a free bus running a few times a day.

The staff were very friendly and the entertainment team worked very hard to keep the guests happy. Any paella fans can enter a paella making competition which was good fun to watch.

Entertainment was very good compared to other hotels we have been to,which included a parrot show,a brazilian dance group, and various other shows.

The room where the entertainment was held was spacious and had waiter service.
We had a brilliant stay at the rubicon palace and would go back tommorow.

ps Its up to you if you want to pack your towels but they are available as the hotel provides you with a coupon to exchange for a pool towel.

We cannot fault this hotel, the staff were very friendly, the rooms were cleaned every day to a very high standard, the food we superb, catering for every possible taste.

I do feel however the location may put some people off as it is situated out of the main part of the resort. This we found this to be a bonus as it we quiet.

The one thing I do feel lets this (and many other hotels down) is having to pay for the use of a safe and fridge. I find this a little petty when one has paid a lot of money for a holiday.

I cannot comment on the entertainment as we did not see any, but the entertainment team seemed to work very hard keeping both children and adults happy.

We would visit this hotel again. One little tip, take a travel kettle with you, we find it to be invaluable.

Having previously stayed in H10 hotels, I was very attracted to the Rubicon Palace and had recommended it to the friends that we were travelling with. Check in and arrival was satisfactory.

Our room was lovely and clean, and had a nice view, no complaints so far. Our friends unfortunately who were staying on level 6, had a terrible smell in their room and outside their room, so much so that the next day they were moved to the other side of the complex. This smell became more apparent as we moved around the hotel, so bad infact that we had to cover our nose & mouth in certain areas of the hotel. I complained to reception and they stated something must have broken somewhere??? and basically were not interested.

The food in the hotel was average and we ended up eating out most night as it tended to be the same style every night, and the cockroaches were a bit off putting.

The service in the piano bar was a hit or a miss sometimes efficient or they would ignore us! We were on a half board package but the bar staff still served us our drinks in plastic cups and charged us full price!

I can't recall ever seeing our tour rep, luckily I had been to the resort before so I knew my way about.

On a positive note the Health Spa in the hotel complex was first class.

I would not rush back to the Rubicon Palace and as far as H10 hotels are concerned I was very disappointed on this occasion.

Stayed in Rubicon Palace 2 weeks all inclusive first two weeks in August. The hotel was recommended to us by my wifes parents who have been 3 times before and are members of the H10 Club. They have not stayed in peak season however.

I found the hotel to be in a superb location, from my room I could see Fuertaventura and a true "Sea View" no binos or craning of neck needed here!

Some rather distasteful things occurred during our stay. The reception staff I found courteous and helpful as you would expect from such a Hotel. However in the bars it was another story. It became apparent very quickly that it was a case of Spanish first everyone else last. I was standing for example at the Piano bar with nobody at all standing anywhwere near me.

It was 5pm and the 3 or 4 bar staff ignored me. After about 5 minutes a Spanish man came to the bar and stood next to me with just me and him waiting. The bar staff came straight to him and served him ignoring me. I walked away in disgust.

Also there were cases of Bar staff talking to Spanish guests at the bar making references to the English turning towards you and laughing!! Needless to say we complained on more than onwe occasion.

I found some of the entertainment to be more holiday camp than anything with only a few professional acts although these were good.

The food was a little repetitive but I found myself choosing better as time went on.

There is a cockroach problem here but it is the canaries I suppose and they are big and fast!(the roaches that is)
can't fault the maids, rooms were well cleaned.

Thought the pool areas were good and the hotel itself is very nice.
If this was a school report it would be - Could do a lot better.
