Arrived on 11 Feb (2 adults 2 children 11 and 7). First impressions were not good, teenager outside scateboarding and a one-bedroom apartment which smelt of stale smoke! Complained to reception and told could do nothing until next day so I asked for air freshner. A cleaner came with extra bedding and air freshner and literally gagged at the smell in the bedroom! Went back next day and were told could do nothing until following day. We told the receptionist about the cleaners reaction and, hey presto, a new 2-bedroom apartment at no extra cost! From then on the holiday was first class. Do not believe the bad reviews about the food being poor. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner every day in the restaurant and there were only 2 occasions that we were disappointed. The entertainment bar was the only bar where we had to queue. There was only one barman on duty and it did get busy. Day time activities were very good for adults and children. The usual kids mini disco in the evening followed by bingo and then the nights entertainment (most of this was good) but the bingo was the worst thing about the holiday with each number being called out in 5 or 6 languages! The entertainment staff were dutch and german and worked very, very hard the whole time. They took the time to chat to everyone and to learn as many names as possible. The pool bar was well run and the soft drinks, beer and hot drinks were self-service so that cut down on the queues. The pool areas were kept clean and tidy, there were plenty of sun loungers and we didn't see one broken one! One pool was heated (just) and the others were too cold for me to try but plenty did use them. The rooms were cleaned 5 times a week and we had clean towels each time. Please do not be put off by some of the bad reviews, we nearly were but decided to go with an open mind and were very pleasantly surprised.

Having read other reviews of this hotel I was a bit apprehensive before traveling but was pleasantly surprised on arrival.

The reception area, pool area and the rooms were all very clean. As all inclusive I was surprised at the size of our room which had a kitchenette, table, living area, large bedroom and bathroom and two balconies, one at the front and one at the back.

The pool bar was mainly self service unless you wanted wine or spirits, in which case you had to ask. The food was fine and there was always something to suit nearly everyone and there was also the Chinese restaurant which is worth a try, again if you want a drink in the restaurants it is self service.

This hotel is not close to the resort but an easy 20 min walk or approx. 3 euros in a taxi. The evening entertainment was not up to much but lets face it when do you ever get great entertainment in a hotel with so many different nationalities to cater for.

I really enjoyed my holiday at Paradise Island and would definitely return. I would not recommend this hotel for families with older children as there isn't much to keep them occupied, I would recommend it for couples or families with younger children who are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday.

The hotel is great for families with children under 15 years. The food was okay but could have been better but breakfast was good nice coffee and we all had plenty to eat at meal times.

It was about a 20minutes walk into Playa Blanca which was well worth the walk very pretty and relaxing resort nice beach, the hotel run a courtesy bus back and forward but if you miss the bus its only 3 euros.

We travelled independently booked fights with Thompson for 335.00 for all four of us and accommodation for 294.00 for all four of us all inclusive so for the money we paid we were well pleased with the hotel and resort.

A taxi cost 35 euros from airport to resort. Weather was good only had one cloudy day so all in all we had a great time and would we return to Playa Blanca and paradise hotel yes we would.

We also made a lot of nice friends too.

Happy holidays anyone thinking about this hotel should book it if you can find a deal like ours you won't be disappointed.

The hotel overall was a pleasant place to stay.

However it was a good half hour walk to town but taxis were cheap and readily available.

The food was plentiful although could have been hotter and was aimed more for our international cousins. This meant that one of our children lived basically on chips and bread for the 2 weeks.

Apartments were clean and spacious as was the hotel and grounds.

The entertainment during the day was plentiful the first week for children and adults however due to some staff going home the second week was poor especially for the children, which was strange as it was half term week.

The quality of evening entertainment was good however there were too bigger gaps in between which meant the children got bored and restless.

Not h10 hotel. Hotel clean in most parts.

Nice pool area thats the only good part of hotel. Food cold not much choice. Hope you like pigs trotters, rabbit stew with all the bones, tripe. Drinks not much choice unless you paid for them.

Could be a lovely hotel but needs a complete revamp in all areas. Beware at bottom of hotel the rooms smell very strong of sewage.

Having booked this hotel as a late deal, then read some reviews on various sights, wer had severe doubts about what we were letting ourselves in for. Why?

The H10 removal did cause some doubts but we were informed that after a few years they sell hotels off to more newerbuilds. However, this hotels standards were excellent. Cleanliness excellent, pool cleaned every morning, everywhere hosed down. Rooms were spacious and clean. Individual buildings of ground floor and first floor. Nicely decorated in white and blue that blent in with the landscape.

Food - how anyone can say there is no choice we do not know. Not just chips every night, usually 3 types of potatoes, plenty of vegetables, salads, fresh cooked meat carved whilst you wait, fish, fresh fruits as well as the best variety of desserts we have seen for a long time. Also Chinese restaurant we divine quisine.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful, always eager to chat and check your needs.

Location fine, a walk to the beach and resort centre but a free hotel bus if you don't fancy it. If not a taxi cost 2 euros 60.

This was our third visit to this hotel and once again we had a fantastic time. We were a little concerned when we learned that this was no longer an H10 hotel but we need not have worried as the new management HL has kept up the good standards we have always had. The complex is kept spotlessly clean and the rooms are serviced 6 days a week. The reception staff were very friendly and when we had a minor problem with our room it was sorted within an hour.

The food was very tasty and the children loved the pancakes for breakfast. Although there was a lot of veal and pork there was plenty of variety with other meats, tuna and various other fish and of course, Paella. There were always plenty of salads etc. The Chinese buffet made a change although you didn't get the choice you get at the local takeaway. The food was delicious and cooked at the counter.

The animation team worked very hard and put on some good entertainment both during the day and at night - better that our previous visits. There were not many English people at the hotel, mainly Spanish and German but the team always checked where we were in the bar and made sure that everything was translated into English for us. The children weren't interested in kids clubs but they joined in some of the games with some persuasion from the entertainers.

The hotel is quite a way from the main area of Playa Blanca but there is a courtesy bus and taxis cost less than 3 euros.

Once again we had a great time at Paradise Island and would recommend it for a family holiday.

We purchased this holiday after seeing it advertised on Thomas Cook TV, which in our opinion gave an over zealous description of the hotel and its services.

The rooms were extremely tired looking, in need of some well overdue attention, both decoration and furniture!

The staff although very polite were constantly trying to extract money from you for one reason or another. There was one particular scam that we experienced together with other guests at the hotel. As part of your registration package you received a towel card per person which when exchanged gave you the use of one free hotel towel which you were able to change daily and at the end of the holiday return in exchange for the card. Unfortunately several of us had towels stolen and guess what you had to pay $15.00 per towel when you checked out. They wouldn't issue us with new towels as each towel that was replaced had to be paid for by the staff, so where do you think the $15.00 per towel was going. By the way you wouldn't pay

We travelled here in May 2005 and were dubious after reading some reports, but dont be put off. We had a fabulous time, and were sad to return home.

The rooms are spotlessly clean, cleaned every day except Weds. The hotel is set in a great complex, with well mainained gardens and beautiful flowers.

There are many nationalties who stay at this hotel, we really enjoyed this and made many friends.

Food was average, plenty of choice every day though.
Kids loved the kids club and the entertainment team were fantastic, they worked so hard.

Mini disco is on 8.30 to 9.30 in the disco bar every night except Thurs reps day off. Then adults entertainment 10 til midnight.

Playa Blanca is nice to visit, a bit far with young children but theres the free shuttle bus and taxis dont cost very much.

We hired a car and went to Timanfaya volcano and did the camel ride and visted fire mountain, well worth the trip.

All in all we really enjoyed our holiday and ditto the other reports there was never a shortage of sunbeds.

Would definitely return again.

We had read a lot of reviews on the net, we were a bit worried. They could not have been more wrong. We had a brilliant time, the apartment was cleaned every day beds changed towels too.

How anyone could say the food was repetative, the food was excellent, the location was a bit far from the main town but they had a shuttle bus all day also a taxi only cost 3 euros.

The hotel staff were all friendly and very pleasant, the pools were excellent cleaned every day no problems getting sunloungers. The entertainments team were fantastic they kept the all the kids playing all day and upto 9.00 at night, then it was the adults turn. They did a brilliant job.

We went on the Firemountain Tour and also the Market Tour which we enjoyed. Would certainly return.
