We arrived early evening and made our way to our rooms, which on first look were great, my friend in the adjoining room opened the wardrobe door which fell on him. The next morning we went to upgrade to all inclusive (big mistake) and were told that we could not, even after ringing the hotel direct the week before and being told that it would not be a problem, eventually they relented (the rep was not interested at all). We then found that trying to get a drink was a challenge in itself as there are only two bars open during the day which are small and pooly staffed, the all inclusive drinks are very limited. The food is OK but very little choice. Other reveiws say that the resort is cleaned daily, that's complete rubbish, it was filthy. The rooms are not cleaned daily, more like every 3rd day. We never actually saw any entertainment as there is very limited room in the Dome unless you got there for 6.30pm. The entertainment reps tried their best but even they were fed up with this place. We also found out that 1st Choice have dumped this hotel from the end of this season (I wonder why, if it's such a great place). The all inclusive isn't all it's made out to be, if you wanted chips you had to pay during the day, you also had to pay for ice cream unless it was in the small pots they were giving out and the prices were high. We also payed for the use of the hotel beach towels, I took them to reception to exchange on the 3rd day and was told I had to pay 1 euro per towel every time I changed them (Other hotels launder them for free). If you like to lay around the pool on a sun bed, forget it unless you don't mind gtting up at 6.00am (they say the Germans are bad), and if you manage to get one, they are all broken. The seating area around the pool bar consisted of 5 tables and a dozen chairs. On the plus side the Hotel location is ideal and the resort is fantastic, I would return but not to this hotel. There are so many negatives to this place that I could write all day, I know this sounds like Victor Meldrew has written it, but I felt so strongly about this I had to let people know who are about to depart or thinking about a last minute break. If you are going this year Good Luck.................

We travelled in June when it wasnt too busy and this was our second vistit to Sun Tropical. Weather was gorgeous. Hotel staff were polite and helpful, First Choice Reps were ok, evening entertainment wasnt as good as it was in 2006 - but Jo Slow made you smile, she was great!
Kids clubs were fantastic and a god send.
Would definately go a 3rd time.
All I had to complian about was the cockroaches in the apartment. We stayed in an appartment round the bar and food hall so thats probably why we had some visitors.
Also, still had to be up at 8am to get a sunbed!

This was our first family holiday abroad and we are so glad we picked all-inclusive.(With the Euro at present it works out expensive to eat/drink there)There are different food choices every day in the spotless restaurant-it`s checked regularly, tables cleared straight away.Crisps/drinks/ice cream by the poolside all day for the kids -the Tavern bar and Dome for evening drinking.Staff constantly cleaning all day -the rooms are comfy(even the pull out sofa!)they are cleaned regularly, towels and linen always changed-the pool cleaned every morning(lifeguard present through day)Plenty of sunbeds(no need to put towels on at crack of dawn!)All the staff are friendly and the reps can`t do enough for you. They work tirelessly from morning to night-there are activities for your kids all day long if they want to join in -we did too!!Kids clubs if you want to leave the little ones for a couple of hours(you have to sign them in and out)No-one forces you into joining in if you just want to chill. The kids are given appropriate safety gear for each activity(the health and safety of your little ones is always present),the reps soon get to know their names and they are so encouraging.Back door pass good idea-pleasant walk to prom/shops/beach(worth a visit-safe and great for feeding the small fishes in the sea with bread!)Then courtesy bus back.We read all the reviews before we went, but we can`t find one bad thing to say about Sun Tropical(the pool was a bit cold-but you get used to it but no hardship!)Go to Playa Blanca and see for yourself -you won`t be disappointed-we wer`nt!!

Having just returned from the Sun Tropical Hotel we wanted to give a review about the place.

On arrival to the apartments it looks a bit out of the way but infact it is only a 15 minute walk in to the town from the main door or you can get a taxi from Reception for about 3 euros at the most....

The apartments are very clean and tidy nothing out of place, we had the bedding/towels changed everyday apart from Sunday when this was the cleaners day off. We had lots/too many towels which was a bonus. The T.V was ok but no remote and we decided to pay for the extra english channels which was 18 euros for a week not too bad really.

The grounds around the apartments are kept clean and tidy and never no rubbish about. You get a table and chairs to sit out on your balcony on.

We travelled self catering so we ate out most of the time. The rooms are very clean, what you would expect from a canary island holiday for 3-star.
There were a few small problems. One with the drain airlock and one with the toilet window position, but nothing too bad to worry about.
It was a 15-minute walk to the town centre. But taxis are only just over 3 euros, so well worth it--especially on the way home.
The staff were great although we didn't do a lot of the entertainment they were very helpful.
Another thing to note when we bought the submarine excursion children over 12 go as adults so two of us paid over 100 euros. It was good, but not value for money, (e.g there was one manta ray -goodness help them if somebody catches it whilst fishing-) we did check elsewhere but could not get cheaper than offered at the holiday village.
I would consider visiting this resort again.

Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Sun Tropical and the first thing I must say is how clean this place is! From the rooms, to the whole holiday village it is absolutely spotless. We went self catering but after reading the reviews decided to upgrade to AI when we got there. Just one word of warning here, our 13 year daughter was classed as adult when upgrading so we were charged adult price for her. We weren't too bothered as when speaking to someone else who had gone self catering, they had spent

Having used this site for the last 3 years before travelling I figured it was time to add a review myself. The whole family absolutely loved the Sun Tropical. The rooms are arranged in U shaped blocks,we were in 'Kiwi' block, which has it's own pool right outside. The main pool is huge. As others are said, the pools are cold, but too be honest, it never bothered us. They weren't freezing, and on a really hot day it was great to jump in and cool off.
The kids clubs were brilliant - and with 3 sessions during the day and a 9-11 one most evenings, they really do keep the lids entertained. raft building, high ropes, watersports, board games, both my kids (7 and 11) loved it.
Evening entertainment in the dome was good. The usual kids disco followed by bingo, then reps shows, such as generation game etc. The singing shows by the E3 team were very good indeed. They work so hard. My son thought Tom was brilliant.
Can't comment on all-incluseive food, but ate in the chicken shack (burgers, chips, breakfasts), and it was well cooked, and the staff were great.
Pool was cleaned every day, pool areas hosed down, rooms cleaned 6 days a week. Can't fault the staff.
Read some reviews about Q's at the bar. Peak season, the longest I saw the Q was 10 people, with 2 barmen serving, and a wait of 3mins. I've waited longer in my local.
Only downside would be the walk to the beach/restaurants, which is 10-15mins. Most nights we got a cab back, which costs 3 Euro's.
daytime entertainment round the main pool was really just a quiz or volleyball, but you weren't hassled to join in if you didn't want to. Not noisy at all.

We went on 3 trips. The submarine, volcanoes, and waterpark. All worth doing.

I'd go here again, and would recommend it if you have young children.

We have just returned from the Sun Tropical and we loved it. If you have been to the Holiday Village in Majorca you may be a tad disappointed with the food. The main reason for this is in the main restaurant there isn't a Chef present preparing/serving say Pancakes at breakfast and meats in the evening. Having said that we always found something tasty to eat. Plus you can eat one evening a week in the Spanish and Pizza Restaurant. The Children have their own buffet.
The staff work incredibly hard, all day everyday. Not just the hotel staff but the Firstchoice staff. The kid's clubs are amazing, we hardly saw our two Daughter's 6 & 7 (Their choice!)
Some apartment blocks have their own pool which are cleaned daily, and yes they are cold, but so needed in the heat.
Beach is ten/fifteen mins away but worth the walk. Nearby market on a Wednesday and Saturday, worth a visit.

Evening entertainment fab for children and again staff work their socks off. Would love to go again in October half term.

First time to a First Choice Holiday Village and first time to Lanzarote.
Sun Tropical is a great family resort and I would recomend it to anyone going on holiday with children and looking for a clean, safe, friendly, fun resort with great swimming pools, activities for kids and adults.
I have to agree with everyone who has said 'go self-catering', we have been all-inclusive before and this village doesn't not match up to other AA(you can upgrade once there if you want)
The pools are not as cold as I expected from other peoples reports (I have been in much colder, lol and I don't do cold) I went in several times a day, you need to to cool down.
The Reps and Entertainment staff are great and we joined in games/quizes and made some great friends, we really had a laugh, and won 3 bottles of wine :-)
As said before the Doom sound is really bad, but even so it is still worth going in the night for the entertainment.
We went on the Island tour; saw a volcano, wine tasting, rode on a camel and dinner (recomend) and the waterpark (not worth the money)
We stayed in the Kiwi block which I requested after reading reviews on here, rooms are fine for 3 but small for 4 and not enough storage but as you only sleep there we managed
All in all a fantastic holiday we really didn't want to go home... I deffinately recomend Sun Tropical :-)

We stayed all inclusive in the Sun Tropical, we enjoyed the resort very much, the staff were friendly and our room was lovely with excellent maid service.
We stayed in the watermelon block and it was ideal with a pool just outside the door.
However the food in the buffet was to put it polietly inedible, it was bland, over cooked and we spent the two weeks wishing we had gone self catering.
We would recommend this resort to anyone but only on a self catering basis, never never as all inclusive customers.
