We have just got back from a fornight at the Cinco Plazas and were very happy with them.
They are built in two storey locks on three levels and there are three pools (one on each level) and so you have a good chance of a pool view. The pools are all free form and were lovely and clean with plenty of areas for sunbeds and with there being three it meant ther was plenty of room for everyone. On the bottom level where the largest pool is situated there is also a seperate children's pool which is heated, so ideal for toddlers, and here is the pool bar where you can get meals, snack, take-away pizzas (nice and good value) and icecreams at only one euro each. each of the other pools had vending machines for drinks and ice creams. One big drawback though was the lack of shaded areas (there was none) and not one parasol at all, a must for those travelling with little ones ans we did find this to be a big drawback.
The apartments are situated on a hill (not exactly the incline the brochure stated, though I do notice this has been changed for the new addition) although this didn't pose us any problems and it is only a 10 minute stroll into the centre of the resort. There is a big Netto supermarket next to the hotel and also a smaller one on site so you can cater for all your needs.
The hotel offered a buffet with a different theme each evening (italian, chinese, canarian, etc) at only 895 euros which looked nice if a little limiting and plenty of people were eating there though we prefered to go for a stroll into town for our meals purely as part of our evening. Pinnochios (Italian) on the front in particular was great, friendly staff, great lasagne and pizza and a wonderful pinnochio entrecote or fillet steak (diane type sauce) which I miss already.
the apartments also have an a la carte restaurant which my parents ate in and said they enjoyed.
The evening entertainment was abit disappointing, though Hans, the entertainment organiser was great, with the highlight being a parrot show and a really good karaoke if you're into them. There's a mini disco for the kids but it only lasts half an hour at 8.30pm though the kids did enjoy it. However being so close to the resort there's plenty of bars at hand so we didn't find this to be a problem.
The Thomson kids club was great, the staff were excellent (and I'm a nursery nurse myself) Smelly Kelly, Disco Debbie and Funky Fi being sorely missed by our boys. As it wasn't busy when we went they merged the age groups and it was possible to send them 3 times in one day if we had so wished.
There were a lot of European clients here, in particular swedes which made for a good cosmopolitan atmosphere. Bar staff were very friendly and welcoming, as were reception, and we received morning calls whenever requested.
Our big disapointment was our evening trip to the Rancho Texas. Over
