solar do sol apartments, montechoro/albufeira
arrived at hotel about 18.00hours. no welcome, just give us our room keys, and asked for 20 euros for the safe if we wanted to use it. when we got to our apartment the bath was disgusting, there was one toilet roll already there, then we found out we had to supply our own toilet rolls.there was not enough utensils in the kitchen, the drinking glasses were food jars. this was a family run complex but the owner was very rude and the staff unfriendly, everybody else felt the same way.
there was building work going on next door for the first 4 days, the swimming pool was very dangerous as it was app 18 inches short from the top, so the depth markings were not accurate. they were trying to fill the pool up through the day even when the kids were in the pool and they got wrong for playing with the hosepipe, the cats were urinating around the pool area.
the bar had inconsistent closing times, infact the bar was shut before 10.30pm on most occasions. we found there was no safety glass in the patio doors as our son who is 12 slipped on the tiles and went through the glass and was cut very bad .our daugter was on the otherside at the time and was cut by flying glass, just as well the rep was there to phone for a ambulance and he was taken to hospital. the owner was there cleaning ashtrays around the pool area when this happened and did nothing to help, to this day he did not ask how our son was, infact the next day he billed us for the glass (115 euros and 25 euros for cleaning the glass up, there was no stickers on the glass doors at all.
the appartment was cleaned 3 times in the 14 days we were there, so this could have been prevented. panorama paid the bills behind our backs.he also intimidated everybody who put a complaint in against him by not phoning for taxis for us, and playing portugese music around the pool area instead of english.we were misled by the brochure as we were a twenty minute walk to any nightlife, and outside the complex was the main road to albufeira wich was very busy night and day, to which it was impossible to sleep at night.

These apts are in an excellent location - close to beach, brand new shopping centre with shops such as Zara, and convenient for nightlife in both Old and new town. Pool is large with plenty of sun loungers. However make sure you ask for a pool view apt as one side of the building faces out onto the main road and could be quite noisey at night. Also they didn't seem to have a proper balcony as there were bars for security. We had a pool side apt which sleeps 3. Appliances included a TV, 2 ring hob, toaster, fridge and there was a cleaning service on most days.

hi, i have just come back from the COSTA VOLCAN in PDC.
the rooms sleep three. very quiet. very close to PLAYA CHICA beach. ideal for shops. very clean. views in the hotel face the sea.that is if you are above the 2nd floor. very handy for divers as Manta dive center is less than a minutes walk. pool is excellent and also has a babies pool.the ground floor rooms have patio doors that open onto the pool area. staff are nice. and to top it all it only costs 47 euros a night. and you dont pay till you get there.
easy access to the harbour. some fantastic places to eat.
we always go to this area. normaly we would rent larger apartments as there is normaly 3 or 4 families that go. but as it was only 2 of us this time we chose this one. www.lanzarotevacation.com/lanzarote_nl/lanzarote_aparthotel.htm
