Staff were really helpful on arival and came across as being very helpful.
Apartment was fine for 4 people they have recently been updated to a good clean standard, cleaners were very helpful.
We had a great view of the sea with the mountains behind us. Its nice and peaceful but Puerto del Carmen is a 5 min taxi ride away costing about 4 euros if you fancy a change but we only went once as our resort had plenty to occupy us.
About 5 min walk from apartments is a small shopping centre with shops bars and lots of good places to eat ranging from Spanish,Chinese,English,Indian and loads more.
We will defenatly be going back to these apartments.

We booked this holiday back in December 04. We were notified that there were building works pretty early on and to be fair we did not hear much noise at all from the works. However, these apartments in our opinion should have been closed until renovations were complete. The bathrooms are dirty with broken tiles, smell foul, window frames rotten, no towel rail, nor paper holder and baths badly srained brown. The showers run hot and cold and more cold thatn hot. The kitchen doors were unsecure, bare wires showing and not nearly enough cutlery and crockery for a family. One pot per apartment! There were also no plug sockets in bedrooms and two for the whole apartment. We saw the maid twice when she mopped floor and left towels once with no bedding changed at all.
We then got letters the week we were due to fly saying that the apartments may not have baths and showers but either or and also that due to the stairs around the complex it is unsuitable for elderly/children----there are not kidding. The pool is situated in the middle of the complex and the stairs all leading to the pool are deadly on a drastic incline! Around the pool area is dirty with wrappers and fluff under the beds.
We did mention to the rep that we had a problem with the condition of the apartments and she said she would come back to us but she never did. We put up with this because we did not spend any time in the apartments really just to chage and sleep. Reception staff very rude and uninterested in assisting at all.
On a positive note the noise of the planes was not an issue and when these apartments are refurbished they will be nice. Also the cafe was really nice with lovely food and the staff were lovely and the weather gorgeous.
Finally the location is quite far out from the main area (3 miles approx)and with children this was a problem. We normally stay in Puerto De Carmen but decided to change this year.
The shopping centre in the resort mostly had empty units. We ate at the indian upstairs caleed "Steve's balti house" which was lovely and the chinese downstairs but we saw no entertainment at all except for the football match. We shall return but would go back to Puerto De Carmen and not this far along again.

Very clean appartments catering to the more family oriented holiday goers. Fanstatic pool solit into a deep and shallow end by a dividing wall. A seperate kiddies pool exists close to the main pool.
Good bar and restraunt, the food was always more than comparable to other more expensive restraunts on the strip.
The appartment area was always well maintained and kept clean, as is Lanzarote as a whole
Only downside we found was the proximity to the airport. Depending on wind direction the noise from the planes could be an issue, but didn' really bother us two much.
Matagorda is much quiter that Porto Del Carman but if your looking for a quiet holiday with the kids it suits just fine, with enough shops and restraunts. ( Most of the restraunts and shops in Porto Del Carmen are carbon copies of exah other anyhow )
Would have no hesitation in going back to these appartments.

A thoroughly enjoyable holiday from start to finish. Could not complain about the accomodation. It was far superior to what we expected. A little basic but more than enough for a couple or small family to enjoy. Bar food was excellent as well as the staff. Only 2 minute walk to the beech. Would argue that the San Marcial is a 3* accomoadtion at least!!!! We would definately go back again. My only complaint would be the lack of traditional spanish cousine. But this is a tourist area made for tourists so one can't expect too much tradition spanish lifestyle.
We would rate our holiday at an easy 8/10
