We stayed in a private apartment which we booked on the internet so it was very well looked after, nicely furnished and very clean. A lot of the apartments on this complex are private so I imagine they are the same. The ones run by the Castalia Park however looked quite shabby from the outside, particularly those that overlooked the shops, paint peeling off etc. although to be fair we didn't see the inside of them but going by previous comments I imagine they are slowly being refurbished. The pool isn't heated so if you're going in January like we did it was absolutely freezing, the only ones brave enough to go for a swim seemed to be the children! My husband tried the pool in Los Brezos which we had use of but it was freezing too. The outside areas were all very pleasant.
We liked the location of the apartments and it was very quiet at night. We will definately return but would only consider booking a private apartment again.

we were lucky in the apt we got was or seemed recently refurbed to a good basic standard. (as some were outright dumps going through basic paint and clean up)
if you like cats you'll love this complex as it has tens of wild ones running wild around the place, pooing in the gardens or leaving dead birds.
the pool is good and scenic but very limited in bed spaces, also it it so enclosed so near nil wind making it a heat trap. (40 degrees when near beach said 30)
location ok, however at the entrance to the shops just on corner there are non stop time share scratch card touts waiting to pounce. tell them where to go once and dont bother you again.
asked about upgrading to half board was quoted 80 euros a day for family of four for half board!!

The Castalia Park is a very quiet complex of apartments located in the Fanabe area of Playa de Las Americas (Costa Adeje).
The complex is a two storey block with the ground floor apartments having small gardens and the upstairs apartments haveing two larger balconies and one very small balcony.
There is an attractive pool area but it is extremely quiet and somewhat lacking in atmosphere. The Castalia Park does not have a bar as rit has recently merged with the Los Brezos next door and the only bar is in this complex (its only a 2 minute walk through the complex)
The Los Brezos also has a swimming pool and this one has more atmosphere due to the bar and also some music playing.
Our apartment was the usual bog standard Spanish holiday resort style apartment - basic but clean and it served its purpose.
The complex gave off an air of being unloved. Lots of flaking paint and lumps coming out of the balconies. I would imagine when it opened (I suspect the 1980's?) I would imagine the complex would have looked stunning and it could do again, it just needs some TLC and some attention to detail.
The complex has lots of steps some of which are unlit at night which considering the age of many of the clientele I thought this was quite bad.
The staff were reasonably friendly but didn't make you feel overly welcome.
Most guests staying in the complex are German (94%) followed by Dutch (4%) and then the Brits (2%).
I would not return to the complex because it doesn;t look like they have spent any money on it for a long time and whilst at the moment the standard is still acceptable, I would think in a year or two this will change.
A good holiday but not the best place I've stayed in Tenerife
