Visited the hotel October 01 until 15 and was very impressed.

The hotel was fantastic, very clean, and very big.

The food was excellent lots of choice.

The rooms were cleaned every day. Hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly.

The entertainment was very basic but for a totally chill out holiday that didn

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the BP Tenerife and as we knew what to expect they had a lot to live up to. I won't bore people with another review (read my other one it still stands), but will outline changes and/or pluses/minuses from before.

Pluses:

As this was our 2nd time we could eat in all the a la carte resturants as many times as we liked i.e. no restrictions. This wasn't known by us, and I don't think its published. This may only be a consequence of booking direct, I don't know. Needless to say we did take advantage of this especially as they had improved, they didn't appear to be as plasticy as last time. In fact they were much much better. The salmon is now locally reared, fresh from the sea. You can see the pots/nets from the hotel out in the ocean. You have to try it in the fish resturant!

We also got campagne and fruit in our room on arrival, again I think because it was our 2nd time.

Both main pools were heated, perhaps this only starts in November (they were cool before 1st Nov). The kiddies pool was heated some days (no it wasn't the weather) but they had electricity problems again and various stuff was on and off all week.

The staff (which were there) were more experienced and better. Only one staff member was crap and it was obvious he didn't like his job, the problem is though, there is a shortage of people to work in top notch hotels on the island as anyone who can speak two or three languages does something better than be a waiter!!!

The kiddies club was excellent. They have made a real effort to improve it and pool the resources with the sister hotel (BP Costa Adeje). Since 18 months ago, they now do plays with the kids, which is lovely.

The BP Tenerife is now a main stay for Dutch tourists (its a Dutch holiday companies brochured property) who seem in a general a better bunch than the French, Germans and English Chavs that were there last year. A massive family group of English Chavs did turn up two days before we left and made me wish they'd curl up and die, but I think most other guests realised they were a breed apart from most people at the hotel.

Minuses:
The electricty problem still exists. Playa Paraiso (and in fact the whole island) is a building site with more and more buildings going up. This has put a mega strain on electricity usage. Luckily this time the hotel suffered only a few breif "brown outs" but after this they turned some stuff on and off during the day to run on their own generator, so occassionally lights were turned off in the pool after dark, which made it less attractive to view at night.

There is also a cold water pressure problem which means having a shower is interesting as the temperature can dip and soar. This is a Playa Pariso problem and new water mains are being put in.

The road to the BP complex is still crap and potholled. Ok only a problem if you drive yourself.

Take your own towells, dispite what they say. They have a supply problem with the pool towells. We were lucky because we got up early to get them and then kept them for a few days before exchanging them.

Changes:
Its still worth renting with Record/Amigo Autos but if you book a Berlingo (or equivalent) you may get an upgrade at this time of year. They get a lot of paragliders/windsurfers/golfers. We got an upgrade and know another family who did too.

The airport is a bit more disorganised than it was last time, be warned that they tend not to have a big window for booking you onto flights. We saw lots of queues just waiting for checkin desks to open, some only an hour before their flight!!! They also move gates a lot too.

The island definately has more road traffic than last time we went and the TF1 is already starting to show its usage in the odd bump and pot hole. Not good for the main road.

The golf courses are a rip off from October to March. They claim its peak season, but it wasn't. They charge more for less IMHO. The Costa Adeje golf course would have cost 90 euros for a round (with a buggy, which you have to have) and thats about what I pay mothly for a top notch membership at my local PGA tournament quality course. So I just did the range this time round. (BTW the greens were crap that I saw, well worn and therefore not worth the money).

Conclusion:
Most the of the problems with the hotel were external ones that the staff did there best to get round. We found no problems with food (plenty and lots of variety). We were treated very well as it was our 2nd visit. The cats and pidegeons that other speak off weren't a problem and didn't come in the resturants. And the booze wasn't watered down.

You are treated with respect if you respect the hotel staff, and our kids were made a fuss of because they are well behaved.

We will be going again. Its just too good a place. We checked out Lost Criteree-anus and decided it was a dump, just a little better dump than Playa de lots of Murderers.

If you like a slow paced, well stocked hotel, with everything to hand and you don't need a beach or nightlife thats loud. Stay here. You'll thank yourself.

We booked our holiday independently so were a little apprehensive about what we were going to get. Checked out this web site for reviews before we went and have to say that many of the negative statements were probably a little unfair.

The resort (which really only consists of the two Hotels) is quiet, but that was exactly what we wanted. We didn

This hotel deserves its 4* plus rating. The rooms were excellent and the facilities second to none. We enjoyed the variety of food and welcomed entrance to the a la carte restaurants.

Although this hotel is in an islolate location, it doesn't cost a lot to travel to the nearest town. The hotel even lay on free transport (at stated times).

The hotel staff are very pleasant but all seem to end up doing their stint as part of the evening entertainment (Ooke dokey) which was not up to the required standard.

This hotel is classed as all inclusive, although this is not neccessarily the case. The drinks all taste watered down, and if you want a decent drink, wine bottled beer, malibu or baileys you have to pay for these, there is one main bar for the evening, and this gets mobbed, with drinks being put into jugs and then left on a table in the middle of the hall (are these then not tampered with ?? you have to ask???)

the evening entertainment is outside of the main hotel at the pueblo prinicipe and this has no all inclusive drinks until 10pm and then this is one small table with some slush puppy type cocktails, that taste pretty vile and a few local branded spirits and again the coke, sprite all in jugs just left there, this is only for one hour and then this is taken away.

You can then pay through the nose for any alcoholic drinks, 4 euros for one baileys and believe me, the measures are english measures - so thats

we have just returned home from the bahia principe costa adeje and i can honestly say it was the best holiday we have ever had. the hotel was beautiful the staff were all very friendly the cleaners never stopped from early morning and were still working into the evening. some people complained about the pidgeons but i can honestly say that they did not bother us at all my 9 year old daughter loved the cats and they were never an issue. the entertainmment in the evenings could have been better there was one group on every thursday and saturday and they were brilliant we thought the drinks were fine and if you wanted to help yourself you could we have already booked to go back again next year and i am counting the days.

This is the 2nd time we have been to this hotel but unfortunately it will be our last!!!

Don't get me wrong the hotel to look at is so impressive and beautiful but I really don't think the food was very good this year plus the swimming pool area was really dirty. Not sure about the bottom pool as we didn't sunbathe down there. We sunbathed at the other pools. They did hose down the tiles every day but didn't clean up any bits of food or rubbish with the exception of cups.

They had to close the bottom pool down as seemingly the filter hadn't been working for days before they noticed. It was closed for 3 days. My poor 1 year old had a throat & ear infection and bad sickness and had to be in hospital for 2 days. My other son and husband also had a 24 hour sickness bug. I didn't get ill but I am the only one that didn't use the pool!!

The main restaurant staff were mostly great and remembered us from last year and looked after us. However, the food wasn't up to a 4 * scratch to me. The quantity was vast but the quality was not that good. There were loads of flies as well so that was a bit off putting especially on the bread and salads. We didn't go to the restaurants you reserve this year but they were seemingly quite good according to people we met. There's a pool restaurant that does snacks and ice creams and that's okay and there's another restaurant at lunch time that doubles up as the Spanish at night but there were lots of pigeons going underneath tables etc. They don't seem to try to sort this problem out. There were cats but to be honest you didn't see them that often and they didn't seem to go near the pool area.

Receiving your pool towel allocation was a farce. Last year you could get your daily towels at whatever time but this year to had to be there for it opening and once they ran out that's it til 3 pm and then the same happens there. Some people had their towels for days and they were unlucky!!!!

Drinks were not that good. Beer and soft okay but spirits and cocktails were awful. White wine was absolutely disgusting. The rose was just okay. We sometimes paid extra for a better bottle of wine. All branded drinks there was a surcharge and not particularly cheap.

The bedrooms were great and kept nice and clean with loads of towels. We had a room overlooking the pool and it was a lovely view. It was a bit of a trek from our room to reception or the main restaurant. Because we had pushchairs it meant 3 different lifts but that was only a small thing. We didn't mind it at all really.

The entertainment was poor. Last year we didn't think it was that bad, they had a Freddie Mercury and Ricky Martin singer last year and they were brilliant, however, this year it was more of the entertainment team doing the shows and they tried hard don't get me wrong but they were not good.

Well, that's all i can think of at the moment, but feel free to ask me anything about it via the discussions section.

just returned from this hotel and having read mixed revievs on this and other sites did not know realy what to expect.

It would appear we were at the hotel at the same time as the lady above ( Kaz)and i can fully agree with the points she makes.
I was one of the unlucky ones who despite being at the right place at the alloted time i did not manage to get a replacement towel for about ten days, i stopped bothering after that to be honest. Sunbeds are plentifull and available at all time of day but if you want a parasol be warned you will have to make the effort to get up by 9am at the latest to get one.

The bottom pool area is very nice fantastic views etc, but the problem with the filter and the closure of the pool for the three days started the afternoon we arrived, you cant fault the workmen for there efforts to repair the fault they worked hard, and after three days the pool was filled, unfortunately there efforts were in vein as within a couple of days the water was very murky and i and my family choose not to use it the problem had obviously not been rectified.

Dont let me put you off this hotel it looks fantastic and the rooms are quite good, we had a room overlooking the back of the adeje complex, however the clenliness of the room could have been better, i dont think the floor was swept in the room or on the balcony in the two weeks we were there!

The entertainment, what can you say, they did do there best .....but i have been to better school plays and i did hear parents using atteding the shows as punishment if there kids were being naughty... enough said!!

The hotel is remote, you can have a walk to neighbouring town but to be honest there is a very big building programme at the moment and the shops and bars were covered in dust from the building work.

I dont want to sound too negative, we had a great time met some lovely people from north of the border and we nor any of the people we met were ill.The food was good, plentifull and the themed restraunts were exellent.
We caught a taxi from the airprot at a cost of 25 euros, other taxi's to las america or las chritianos were about 12 euros each way.

Hope anyone visiting has a great holiday and the points above have not worried you too much, they are only small points and did not ruin our holiday.

Large complex, not for people who struggle to get around really. (plenty of steps/ramps etc & your room may be some distance from the reception area).
Room was nice, good size. Big balcony.
Bathroom was split into 2 sections (divided by a saloon style door). 1st bit has a double sink & a bath (great power shower over the bath) & through the swing door is the toilet & bidet.
We stayed in the Costa Adeje part of the complex. The Tenerife part of the complex apparently had the same rooms but their bath had a whirlpool facility on it.
We found lots of people from the Tenerife part of the hotel spent most of their time in the Adeje part so I'm not sure wether it's worth paying the extra to stay in that bit.

A big plus for this hotel was that we never had a problem getting sunbeds at any time of the day, there was plenty. (I'm sure we ALL have been frustrated at one time or another with the sunbed stealers that are up at 5am). It doesn't seem to happen here.

A lovely hotel in lovely surroundings.
Massive lagoon style swimming pools, a pleasure to swim in.
They look so beautiful at night too when they are all lit up.

Only downside for me was that some of the branded drinks had to be paid for separately. (not great when the only alcoholic drink I liked was on that list).

Something that wasn't clear was 'the square' (next to the hotel where they hold the entertainment) has an all-inclusive bar in it but the other bars there are cash bars. (we were carting drinks over from the hotel bar as we didn't find this out until later). There is also an all-inclusive snack bar there that is open 24 hrs.

The 'disco' wasn't much cop really. Just a small room with music, no flashing lights or anything. That's in the 'Tenerife' part of the complex.

Overall though, a lovely hotel & I'd probably go back.
