Location
The room was large and plenty of room for the five of us, it was clean and had plenty of bedding, it was cold at night and we had plenty of blankets and two heaters too.
The location was good the hill not too much of a problem,
The pool was being cleaned, although I very much doubt we would have used it due to the weather, but it looked really nice and would be good in the summer.
The hotel staff were not the friendliest although we didn

We stayed in the Vacanza apartment , we got a safe deposit box because of reading this page and it made us think, but for 10 euros it was worth it.
The pool was very good for kids, it was freezing as you would expect in january but weather was great at 14 to 27 degrees.
The walk was not as bad as we thought the hill was fine for us and we did have an older person with us and a disabled one.
Entertainment their was none we went to the white horse just round the corner and down the hill.
Yes i would visit this hotel again already thinking of next visit,

One of the very few downsides is getting from reception to your apartment if you are in the farthest away blocks.
There is a Mini-market on the site and also a Super-market outside the complex gates so there are no worries about having to carry water and food a long way. Just down the hill there are quite a few bars and cafe's where you can get good meals and reasonably priced drinks. If you like your Sunday Lunch go to "The Yorkshire Pride" for 5 Euros you get a really good lunch which is REAL VALUE.
If you want good entertainment you are only about a 10 minute walk from the main nightlife.

The worst place I have ever been to, and would advise anyone NOT TO GO!!!

We eventually found our way out and killed time. The main point of this review is to serve a warning to others, when we checked into our room, the first thing we noticed was that the lock was stuffed with toilet paper. This would make you think the door was locked when in fact,it wasnt. We picked this out taking 10 mins or so, but this left us feeling very wary. Luckily the majority of our belongings were in our apartment in Oliva so we only had the bare minimum. We felt this was likely to have been done internally.
Many people less vigilant may have fallen for this scam. My pillow was absolutely repulsive, like putting my head into an ashtray. I am a non smoker but have never experienced this before in any other hotel. It was ok as a 4 day base but thats all I can say about it.
Certainly we did feel rather vulnerable there, but also because of some of the other residents. Not the type we usually associate with. Anyone could actually get in really, you just had to wait for someone to come along and let you in or just remember the code.
Please be careful.

The bar was shut at 9-10pm all nights and the hill is a nightmare. All I can say is I would not stop here again
Staff are very rude and unhelpful overall disappointed and the kids had very little to do and the room was in a state of disrepair.
I suppose this is what you get for going cheap.

The room was absolutely fine for what we needed and was very clean.
The pool was the biggest I've ever seen and although it was late October we still went in for an hour or so every day! I can imagine it will be a really nice pool peak season!!
As for what has been said about the nightlife not being very good out of season, what rubbish!! All of the bars still have their entertainment on and it is fantastic!! Although the clubs might not be packed, you don

Its great for singles but only problem was only one key between 4 people, this a bit hard work wjen not everyone wants to go home at the same time.
Another downside is the checkout time is 10am, not very good when your flight is late. But there is somewhere to put your luggage and you can shower in the gym for a small price.

The vacanza apartments( we stayed in the Monaco block) themselves are excellent, they are self contained and all you could hope to expect with washing machine, cooker, microwave and TV. The accommodation was one bedroomed with twin beds and a pull down double in the lounge. The apartment was clean and spacious and as it was self catering we did not expect any great degree of maid service and were happy to clean round and empty our bin and make the beds etc.
The pool was fantastic for both adults and children and had a lifeguard on duty throughout (10:30-20:00), it was clean and the area around the pool was well maintained throughout the day. The website had several reviews mentioning the location, and in particular, the steep hill to and from the beach. I can honestly say this was not a problem and if you choose your route carefully you can be at the beach in 5-10 minutes without breaking much sweat....our two daughters (aged 9 and 10 yrs) didn't complain once about the walk and I really couldn't offer up much more evidence than that as, to be fair, they do like to have wee moan!
Also mentioned in previous reviews was concern regarding apartment security with a couple of reviews mentioning break ins. As we were on the 19th floor, our balcony doors weren't visible from street level, the doors were double locking and the only other residents on our floor were my daughter and boyfriend, we naively believed that we wouldn't be a target for a burgulary....wrong!!
On the second night we returned to find that our apartment had been entered... not broken into, as there was no evidence to indicate forced entry, and as previously mentioned the doors were double locked. We went immediately to the security guard and night watchman who were very ambivilent and suggested that the door was entered by a thief using a credit card!! We requested that they should demonstrate this even without the double lock on, as there is no possible way that this could occur as the Yale 'wedge' is set deeply in the door frame and cannot be tampered with.
Obviously, not being very happy, it was indicated by myself and my partner that the only people who could be 100% certain that our apartments were empty were the staff on duty...namely the night watchman and the security guard. They tried to counter this by stating that they had no idea what apartment we were in as they didn't know our names, but it was pointed out to the security guard that he had come to our apartment on our first night to collect our passports and could therefore cross reference names to apartments. It was also suggested, and they both agreed, even the most inept of thieves, surrounded by easier pickings, would not choose to enter a complex with security coded gates and, not knowing 100% if that apartment was occupied, go to the 19th floor on a hunch, and enter!
Surprisingly, the Thomson rep was not made aware of the robbery and only found out when we approached her the following evening. As we had not been offered a room change or to have the locks changed she stated she would chase this up with the apartment staff....nothing was done, and, this is what made myself and my partner bitter, my older daughter and boyfriend slept with chairs against the door and carving knives by their sides, the two youngest girls had to be kept out until 2-3 am in the morning until they dropped as they were too afraid to sleep, and most harrowing of all, my partners daughter, who had been clear for two years, came out in an eczematous, allover body rash.
I really wish I could say otherwise but the Police and Thomsons were really no help at all. On visiting the police station to collect our crime reference no/sheet we voiced our belief that the robbery was connected to apartment staff. On describing the circumstances the police acknowledged that it probably was commited using inside knowledge but they stated that anyone working there could get access to a key...we suggested they start with the two that were on duty that night and although they said they would send out their Forensic Staff to investigate it didn't come to pass. We were also informed by the Thomson rep that the Thomsons Guest Services Manager would represent us at a Regional Tour Operators meeting later that week and that he would visit us to inform us of developments. Again, this did not occur and we were given a 'cut and paste' standard letter re 'street crime' and how Thomsons were at the forefront of security ensuring extra 'complex lighting' and funnily enough, more secure door locks.....we were still waiting after five days at this point to have our locks changed!!
The letter did not make one reference to the fact that this robbery might have been out of the ordinary and this is what we found incredibly frustrating, that no one took our concerns seriously.
