Calella was fairly clean but you expect that in January. Pavements needed sorted in a lot of streets. There wasn't a lot of entertainment on when we visited ( we brought our own comedian with us). Going back in july 2006, then again in december and probably Jan 2007.

The resort itself is ok. they are building around the beach so its a bit of a pain. the town was closed a lot ans seemed to only be open for an hour in the morning and an hour at night. Even the bars and Mc donalds were closed!! On the upside, we took the train to barcelona, took us an hour and ten euros for tickets and it was fabulous!!!! We got on an open top tour bus and it took us everywhere. wonderful.

calella is a pretty town but it does seem very run down.
after travelling around a little ,it did seem one of the better towns in the area.
the beach and coastline is beautiful and shopping is goodalong commercial centre.
word of advice -try shopping on a saturday evening and the town comes alive with friendly local families and shops that close in daytime(off season)are open in evening
found local people very friendly and helpful.
weather in november was not good but plenty to do if you want to sightsee-use the train service cheap and quick

unfortunately rained for the whole week which was just bad luck and there wasnt a lot for the kids to do when the sun wasnt shining. As it was nearing the end of the season it was very quiet and not much nightlife. Plenty of nearby eating places so you wouldnt starve but even then that wasnt all that great either.Only mercy was the Beach Boys Bar which deserves a special mention. Great karaoke bar with regular 'flat cap phil' to entertain you. The beach boys themselves made everyone welcome and the kids thought they were great. Special mention to a wee scottish guy from Edinburgh and Andy, who the kids thought was the best with all your antics and dancing. Be sure to go into Beach Boys sunny or nor,it really was the only enjoyable thing about callela!

The resort is advertised as all year round but it closes for 6 weeks from end of oct-christmas. This made it hard to find any decent entertainment. Its not far from airport(Gerona) or Barcelona.
Roads and pavements swept and mopped daily by businesses.
Beach to a high standard with minor disruption as they build new road ways leading up to the beach.

A number of bars and restaurants - beach was nice although the sea is very rough and gets deep very quickly. Great location for Barcelona and Salou.
