My husband got food poisoning which appeared to be from the pork ribs he ate that lunchtime in the hotel. The result of this was an admission to hospital via ambulance.
The hospital in Calella was very good, but they do not let you go in with patient until they have been treated, which took 4hrs. It was very scary as the medical staff spoke little English.
However, the hotel staff could not do enough for us when we returned. They were very sincere and worried about my husband.
Location would be great if it was the Summer! Make sure you have E111 we did, and it only cost, doctor - 70 euros + free medical treatment with holiday insurance.

Just arrived back from a one week all inclusive holiday. Could not fault the hotel:- it is on the beach and directly opposite all the shops and cafes. It is extremely clean and the maids came in each day to clean and change towels. We were amazed at how quickly they resolved problems. Our air conditioning was out of order but within 1/2 hour someone came to the room to repair it. The only problem was that there was no enterainment but that was because we had gone on the last week of the season. Apart from that we all had a fantastic holiday and would certainly go back to this hotel again.

We arrived at 11.00 p.m. after travelling since 1p.m.There was no food of any kind available in the hotel and by the time some of those travelling got booked in,the bar was closed.
The "entertainment" we had was karaoke on the Tuesday night,that was it!! There was absolutely no entertainment for kids which meant they were constantly whining and annoying thier parents.
The food was appalling, greasy and badly cooked. Both my wife and myself were ill for two days and decided it was definately food from the hotel.(Seems to be a common complaint). We ate out after that, even for breakfast.
Not excactly what you want on an all-inclusive holiday.
The one thing it has in it's favour is that it is on the beach and even in October we could sit out and sunbathe all day and keep popping back in to the bar for beer.
All in all, steer well clear!!!!!

The hotel Amaraigua is an excellent hotel. We paid very little for our all inclusive holiday and were pleasantly surprised at the standard of the holiday.
The hotel is situated right on the beach front and close to the shops and nightlife, though you weren't disturbed by noise.
The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful. The manageress in particular went out of her way in order to try to help us go to the Salvidor Dali museum, and though we weren't able to go (as the train journey was complicated and didn't have our driving licences to hire a car), she stayed past her normal working hours in order to find us something else to do. Barcelona is only an hour away on the train and makes a great day out, especially if u see Gaudi's Sagrada Famillia (an unfinished cathedral which you can explore)
Yes, there are chips available at every meal, but there were also meat dishes and salads/vegetables. At the price that we paid we were also able to eat out in other restaurants so we managed to have a variety. At the bar they had all sorts of spirits and made cocktails on request.
The hotel is extremely clean. Like clockwork the staff carry out a cleaning routine each morning on the floors and windows outside, and we noticed that our towels were changed every day.

This was a last minute deal I booked with a friend for a week in the sun. The hotel was very clean and staff nice. The standard of food however was disgusting! The food was full of fat & oil and it was difficult to recognise what it was so supposed to be! Breakfast and snacks were safe options, although you do get fed up with pizza, hotdog or chips everyday. For most meals we decided to eat out. We were both well during our stay but heard of a few people with tummy upsets which is not surprising considering the quality of food. The saving grace of the holiday was being right on the beech and only 1 hour from Barcelona. We would certainly not go again.

We are just back from a holiday at the hotel above. If you like chips and beer then you will get on fine however the rest of the food is pretty poor. The only part of the day we enjoyed the food was at breakfast time. Both myself and my partner came home with a serious stomach bug we think from the food in the hotel.
The hotel is actually a 2 star but as it is on a beach it has been ranked a 3 star. It is clean enough and the staff are friendly but 4 young lads jumped the man that cleaned the pool so I don't think they will be as friendly now.
The only saving grace is that you are 20 feet from the beach where we spend our entire holiday, 20 feet in the other direction from the beach is the bar which was great.
As this was a cheap deal you really only get what you pay for therefore if you don't like the food you can afford to eat out.

On the whole the hotel was pretty clean, however, towards the end of the holiday some adverse weather caused some problems with the drains, water supply and electricity in parts of the hotel. The problem with the drains left a pretty bad smell for about 24 hours in the corridors.
The food was OK, but we felt it was better earlier in the week, but gradually got worse. The snack bar only does pizza, hot dogs or chips, every day. However we all loved the snacks, especially the kids, but a bit more variety would have been nice.
Can't complain about the location. Just a few feet away from the beach.
Most staff were very good, but some of the bar staff were a bit obnoxious, choosing to carry on conversations with one and other rather than serving customers. Most of the bar staff didn't look very happy to be there.

I found the hotel very clean and tidy, the food was really nice always something for every, my cousin never stopped eating which is very unlike him, the location was superb just walk out the hotel to the pool then a 5 second walk to the beach, I know they said beach front hotel but this was great. The staff were so friendly and always saying hello and playing with my 10month old baby. I have to say though that the entertainment was not up their with the rest of the hotel, some were very good, but if you didn't like it the bars were across the road with a big childrens play area down the road, a fun fair 2 metro stops down and barcelona 1hr away which was great.
Definetly go again actually visiting sister hotel next year let you know how that goes

We booked cheap late holiday in August, looked for some reviews on computer was a bit worried by some of them, didn't know what to expect was pleasantly surprised!!
The room was clean; the food was enjoyable plenty of choice at all meal times.
The location is superb.
Most of the staff were very friendly & helpful especially when I needed to see a Dr.
The hotel was very clean on the whole. The only down side were parents letting their children run riot up and down the corridors and in the lift.
Apart from the weather it was a most pleasant and relaxing holiday.
The entertainment could do with been looked at, it was quite boring.
On the whole it was excellent value for money.

Hotel Amaraigua
We had a lovely holiday... food was very good but perhaps not all British people would like it as there was 'real' food and not just fast food from a poor British diet!!! There was a variety of fish meat veg and salads. Very good value for the money. The hotel was very clean. The entertainment wasnt very good.
