Pineda is quite a quiet resort, but just a short walk or landtrain ride away is the busier resort of Calella so it is all there if you want it. The station is handy for Barcelona and the trains are frequent and well run. There are lots of attractions near to Pineda such as Water World, Marine Land and the great Port Aventura theme park! We didn't visit the beach much as there is building work going on to put down a promenade and the sand is quite shingly (no good for sandcastles!) but it is a nice beach none the less. All in all, it is ideal - quiet and relaxing when you want it to be, but fun, fun, fun is there when you need it!!!!

resort is very clean no litter.
not much in the way of shops unless you want traditional gifts.calella has a good variety of shops about half a mile long.
pineda market is on a friday and is great.be prepared to pay 24 euros for a barcelona football shirt as all the kids are wearing them!dont bother going to toderra market as it isnt as good unless you like doughnut sticks to dip in chocolate sauce.
we are not beach lovers during the day but did go to it as new walk ways have just been layed and tunnels been re tiled.theres a tunnel right outside the snack bar to get onto the beach but take your own parasol unless you want to go to the main part where you can hire them but it is overcrowded.
we would definatley stay here again in another few years but would like to try another golden hotel next year.

Beach cleaned every night. Shingle sand and never crowded. Pineda was more peaceful than Calella. Nice to walk along the main road at night. Calella about 10 min walk away where there are lots of shops. Local people seem quite friendly.

The promenade at Pineda De Mar is undergoing a huge refurbishment to bring it up to date. Its a quiet resort and the hand full of bars are the only night life. But for many of us, thats good, as Callela (with much more nightlife) is just a couple of miles away, so you can go out, do your thing and return to Pineda, leaving all the noise behind. The railway line to Barcelona runs along the coast, but frankly, its so quiet, you hardly notice its there. Good thing about Pineda is the proximity to Barcelona and its just a 40 min car or train ride away (and its a wonderfull city). We tried the Buccaneer, just a 5 mins walk up the promenade. Its owned and run by Brits. But I guess our favourite bar was The Red Lion in Callela. Its a British pub and although it might look a little daunting from outside, BELIEVE ME ITS NOT. Its run by English people and the bar has a great atmosphere (nice music) and the staff make you just so welcome. The young brit waiter (MOZ) will make you feel really at home. In summing up, Pineda seems that is was (once upon a time) a posh place to go and its been let run down a little. However its clear from whats going on that it is going to become an "In-place" again. Give it a go, I think you will enjoy it.

The resort is quiet which is why I like it so much. The beach is a bit shingley but is easily reached by a small underpass. Callela is very nice and only a short ride away with loads of shops and bars. The train service is good and very reasonable, so you can visit lots of other places while you are there.

If you want nightclubs and wild entertainment - this resort is not for you. Plenty of shops/bars/restaurants etc. but very family orientated and friendly. Shopping precinct in Pineda is mostly pedestrianised. Take the Noddy train into Calella and visit the local market for some real bargains.

There is quite alot of work going on at the moment which I think spoilt the resort, once this is finished I think it will be very good, the beach was ok in places but near our hotel was where all the work was taking place, this did not ruin the holiday though and improvements have to be expected. The locals were very friendly and they really make children welcome. There are two town centres both with in walking distance. Pineda town was the nearest and was about a ten minute walk and Calella was further and took about twenty minutes. There were lots of supermarkets near by and the prices were really good.
