I visited Benalmadena September 2003 with my partner, and I thought the resort itself was lovely - much better than it's neighbouring resorts of Torremolinos and Fuengirola. This resort is very coupley/family orientated and very well maintained. Beautiful beach (dont believe what you hear, Fuengirola had a brach full of floating rubbish when i went).
The hotel we stayed in was great in every respect. Had no problems whatsoever when we stayed and all the staff were very friendly, always saying hello (even the cleaners!). The rooms were spotless and we had a lovely view from the 9th floor over looking towards the beach.
The half board meals were great - a large variety including spanish and english (although they dont do english sausages, they are more like hot dog sausages!). But all the same, the food was spot on and you could fill as much as you wanted on the plate (which i did!). The pool area was also absolutely lovely, surrounded by palm trees and a seperate bar/drinking area right next to the pool. Get there early though, to get a good tanning spot!
They also have a tennis court and table tennis area which is really recommended and good value for money. The entertainment wasn't exactly a top night, more inclined towards the elderly, so head towards the 24 hour Sq. if you want lively entertainment!
I would definately go back to this hotel again, as its literally 100 yards from the beach - spot on for location.
