as bread yet if you walked to down to the holiday village shop you could obtain it there. The hill was
very steep and not suitable for the less mobile but the day before we left they had introduced a shuttle bus service every half hour to the beach club which cost 1 euro each with children under 2 free. The pool at the hotel was very clean and safe with both ends shallow and deeper in the middle with another pool for children. beach balls and rubber rings are allowed but no lilos. The beach bar was ok and the snacks were fine if you like chips with everything.
The staff in all areas were very helpful. The first day our air condition was not working so i reported it to reception and by the time i took the lift up to the room the maintainance engineer was already working on it and it was fixed within 15 mins. The Italian restaurant Don Salvatore was very good and not really expensive. La Tahona cafe bistro was less informal but service was a bit slow. A security station with cctv covering all public areas of the hotel is based at the reception area. The childrens mini club for 4--12 years is next to the shop with a secure indoor and outer play area with entertainment team of Alphonso and Suzanne who are excellent with everyone. The cinema is located next to the indoor pool and luggage room area. We all had a great holiday but if you are looking for plenty of nightlife this is not for you as you need to travel to Benalmadena or Fuengirola.

Biggest complaint about the accomadation was that we was not provided with either a toaster or a kettle, although we asked on numerous occasions by day 11 we gave up, most annoying as we couln't have tea or coffee first thing in morning.
The staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful.
The entertainment staff were great, I think most men and boys had a slight crush on Susannah! Although there was not very much entertainment, the things that they did were worth watching/joining in.
One thing that could be greatly improved is being served at the bar, although friendly, they only seem to have one member of staff on at the busy times, wouldn't fancy working that hard in that heat and getting hassle from the customers, maybe more staff would be a good idea??
The hill was quite steep to walk up in the heat with three kids, push chair and wet towels etc, but not too much of a problem, was fine in the nights when cooler. They now run a bus up and down the hill every 30 minutes for 1 euro per person (only up to 6pm), we would rather of walked, it wasn't that bad (easy to say now at home)!!
Alot of our money went on taxis as there was no childrens menu in the Italian resturant (although food very good) so we had to get taxi out most nights to get dinner. Tried local bus service twice, but after waiting 45 minutes in the heat we gave up.
Not sure how long the swimming pools (both palace and beach club) will last, although they look impressive, many of the tiles at the bottom of the pool had come off, quite a lot of bleeding toes on our last few days! The elephant trunks looked quite dangerous as well, they had very large cracks in them, not very good seeing as they have only been there a few months!
Would defintely like to go back in a couple of years time, maybe they will have a train or bus to take you to nearest beach by then.

The staff couldn't do enough for you from the reception or doctor & even the room cleaning staff were second to none.
I didn't sample the hotel entertainment much but what I did was spot on.

I have just returned from the Sirenis Holiday Palace yesterday. I was very worried about the state of the place before I got there after reading the discussions on the forum, but it is absolutely lovely!!!
It is situated just up the hill from the Sirenis holiday village. Both are built to the exact same very high standard. The reception area is very impressive all marble and beautiful modern furnishings. There are loads of plants and water features and 8 glass elevators.
The apts are really nice large bedrooms with 2 very large beds that are very comfy. Huge wardrobe and dressing table. The lounge is nice, sofa, dining table, tv (Sky) and also another huge wardrobe as the sofa pulls out to a double bed. The kitchen is small with ceramic hob, fridge, kettle and toaster. Not a huge amount of space but most people only used it for snacks. The bathroom is lovely twin sinks, bath with shower, toilet, bidet and a seperate shower too. there is also a hairdryer in the bathroom. There is a large balcony with doors off the lounge and bedroom.
There is a large laundry room downstairs with washers/dryers and ironing facilities.
There is a beautiful large outdoor swimming pool, you can walk straight in at both ends and it gets deeper in the middle. Also a paddling pool. There are loads of sunbeds all with thick padded mattresses on them. There is also a health club indoors with a gym, pool including bubble beds, jacuzzi, (sauna and steam room not yet open).
There are entertainers for both the adults and the children. There is an on-site shop but it is as you would expect very expensive, there are large supermarkets nearby (short taxi ride) well worth a visit to stock up. We never ate in the on-site restuarant so cannot comment on it. But the snack bar on the ground floor was excellent it sells toasties, pizzas, hot dogs etc all reasonable. The internet room was not yet finished. There is a large games room with pool, air hockey etc. There is also a soft play area.
Yes there is some building work going on outside, but it never bothered us, in fact we quite enjoyed seeing all the plants getting planted as the week went on. We arrived on Sun 30/05/04 and that was the opening day. The maid service was excellent, clean sheets 3 times and clean towells every day. Also a full selection of toiletries every day in bathroom. I booked with Direct holidays and they did not mention the beach club in their brochure, so I was not expecting one anyway. The beach club is a long way from being finished, it is for the use of all Sirenis customers in all accomodations. It looks like it will be fantastic. There were loads of workmen there the whole time we were there. I hope this is of some help. I hope to visit again soon

There is still work to be done on the outside area - mainly planting. The crazy golf was almost finished when we left (didn't this die out in the UK back in the 60s).The hotel is having teething troubles - the poolside loos became out of order quickly & the loos next to the indoor pool were once blocked off & there was a lovely smell of raw sewage & staff in wellies. The main lobby was covered in towels one day as the air conditioning leaks.
This is definately not the place to go for a two week holiday - there is nothing at all there. It takes a good 10 - 15 min walk down to the main road & when you get there you're on a building site. There is nothing but cranes, JCBs & Caterpillars. To the right is a walk to the beach which takes another 15 -20 mins on a very busy road - the path wasn't finished when we were there & most of the walk is done on the (very busy)road. The shops at East Fuengirola are yet another 10 mins & further.
If you want to get anywhere you have to spend your whole holiday on buses or in taxis or doing mammoth walks.
You could not stay around the hotel unless you want to lose weight rapidly - the supermarket is expensive & inadequate. The bar/restaurant sells expensive 70s style food - we had 2 meals & a take away then gave up. A tuna salad consists of a plate of lettuce, couple of tomatoes & a quarter tin of tuna. The bar has little atmosphere as its like sitting in a shopping mall without any people to people watch. This holiday maybe ok for just a few days but by the end of the second week we were fed up with trecking just to eat & were totally demented.
In all honesty we wouldn't go back there even if direct holidays paid us.

The indoor pool was lovely they also have a gym 2 sauna rooms and turkish baths which are great.
The outdoor pool was nice too they have sunbeds with thick mattresses so they are comfortable an theres a small paddling pool 4 children an a poolside bar all the staff are very friendly the maids are great they keep your appartment very clean fresh towels shampoo bath get combs shower caps an tissues everyday an if you go out in a rush an if you havent washed your pots they do it for you!!
The rooms are well sized two double beds cupboards with hangers u have to pay to use the safe which is in the bedroom cupboard. In the kitchen their is utensils pans toaster kettle microwave cups plates an glasses..i would take basic groceries with me if i was going again as it is very expensive an their is no local supermarket and to come back in a taxi from the supermarket it is very expensive, to get to the local towns in a taxi it cost us between 8 an 13 euros an the hotel really is in the middle of nowhere although it is lovely the beach club looks great it should be ready in the next couple of weeks.
I would rather visit the holiday palace which is at the bottom of the hill and the evening entertainment is much better their epeciaaly if you have children with you, they had a laundry room downstairs but u have 2 get 2 tokens from reception to use it so it costs 4 euros!!i wouldnt go their again as it isnt a good location and that hill is a killer it cost me double what i wanted to spend because we ended up getting taxis buses were never ontime an it wasnt really that it was the thought of climing that hill on return!!

We only ate breakfast at the Tahona Restaurant it was very good, but expensive so most times we would head to fuengirola.
The first day though we wanted to see where benalmadena was and we walked miles in the sweltering heat and couldnt find anything but small residential areas where they cooked fish and it was really smelly!
So we trecked back up the dreaded hill.
The next day we went in the opposite direction and found a bar called the caribbean bar it was situated at the start of fuengirola (carvajal). We got to know the couplw who owned the bar there and they gave us maps and places to go so they were helpful.
It was really expensive getting taxis everyday as we are a young couple and wanted a bit of action at night and during the day. There wasnt much to do at the holiday palace. The supermarket wasnt too bad although we only bought pringles sweets and juice so i didnt think it was too expensive.
I paid for laundry too that cost me 6euros and it didnt clean my clothes very well so that was a rip off.
The construction on the beach club was almost finished when we were leaving (20th june) so it should only be about 2more weeks before that is completed.
We would go back to the Costa Del Sol as we met a lot of nice people in FUENGIROLA and we didnt want to leave but I think the holiday palace is for those who want a really really quiet holiday so i think we would like to book somewhere in the middle of all the hussle and bussle. Weather was scorching everyday which you couldnt complain so yeah we enjoyed ourselves anyways.
