Location
The hotel reception area as you walk in is fabulous and gives you an idea of the standard you can expect from this hotel during your stay.
We were self-catering and had a 2-bedroom appartment. Furnished nicely, kitchen area well equiped and a high standard bathroom. Bedrooms were of a good size, with some of the biggest single beds I've ever seen! Wardrobes had huge mirrored doors - great for checking how your tan is coming along!
The bed-linen was changed regularly and the towels almost daily. There was supposed to be a daily maid cleaning service (which suprised me for self-catering) but the cleaning was not very thorough and in fact the room was a bit dusty & sandy when we arrived. This contrasted to the standards of cleanliness throughout the rest of the hotel. The pool area in particular was spotless being hosed in the evening and again the following morning. Unfortunately it was necessary to do it again in the morning due to some holiday makers over doing the san miguel and leaving pavement pizzas (if you know what I mean!).
Although we were self-catering it was possible to pay to use the dining room for breakfast or evening meals. We only ate breakfast there on a few occassions but found there was a good variety.
The hotel has lovely pools but due to the antics of some of the guests the sun loungers are chained up at night. The pool attendants would unchain them at 10 am but people would have been queing from 8 to claim them. One hidden gem of the hotel is the roof-top jacuzzi. The number of guests allowed up there is controlled by reception as the door can only be opened by a card-key, available from reception. The code is changed daily so no hanging on to a card for your stay, and reception always know how many people are up there. This means there's no shortage of sun-loungers and its much more peacefull and relaxing than the pool side. There is also an indoor pool but as we had fabulous weather we didnt use it all so cannot comment on it.
The hotel staff were excellent. The reception team in particular were outstanding - always polite & helpfull. The only complaint I had was that after buying post-cards from reception I was told they didnt sell stamps, but to write the cards, return them to reception with the money for postage & they would mail them for us. We did this, but between the five of us in our party we sent 20 cards, of which only 2 were delivered (this is being written 6 wks after returning home). So send any cards from main Salou itself!
Sadly the helpfullness of the hotel reception staff was not shown by the Airtours reps. They weren't rude but everything seemed too much trouble for them. Any questions were answered with replies to ask hotel reception or look on the notice board. They also gave us wrong information about one of the excursions we booked. We specifically wanted a trip to Barcelona that didnt call at the Nou Camp, having visited it 2 yrs previously. We were recommended the one to book. First stop of the trip? the Nou Camp!
Also regarding the excursions offered - my mum booked to go to Tarragonna and paid 15 Euros. I went on the local bus for less than 2 Euros. I thought that when my mum went on her trip she would be taken around the Roman sites by a guide whereas I'd gone with a tourist map, but no - she arrived at the shopping mall 30 minutes before it opened and was simply told the Roman ruins were up the road if they wanted to go & look at them!
The location of the Mediterranean Village is good. Having stayed previously in the centre of Salou, I much preferred Cap Salou. It had restaurants & bars to visit if you fancied a quieter evening but only 10 mins by bus to Salou central. The buses were also running all night during our stay so plenty of options for a night out.
All told, we had a wonderfull time at this hotel and i have no hesitation in recommending it and would certainly stay there again.

A bit of a walk to the main town but a 5 min taxi drive gets you there in no time.
A very clean hotel and would come back.

You soon forget and enjoy the wonderfull setting. We had hotel rooms which were very good but would chose appartments next time.
Good choice of food but don't be late for breakfast, could be queues.
Hotel was being cleaned all the time.
Had a jacuzzi each day about 4 30-5 30 quiet then, the roof is a good place if you like plenty of sun with little shelter.
It would be good to go back when you know all the right things to do.

We hardly saw ou 9 year old!!! He was involved in all of the daytime activities provided by the Hotel and when they'd finished he was playing football in the sports court.
Both pools at the complex are large and provide ample beds for all guests.
The bars are very comfortable, but can get quite hectic in the evening. We preferred to sit in the large reception area on the comfy seats.
Overall, this complex was fantastic and I would hesitate in returning.

Although the location is outside Salou we still found it excellent as there is a smaller and much quieter beach just across the road with all the same facilities as the main busy Salou beach. It also gives you a nice quiet nights sleep. It is also within walking distance of the centre.
Will definitely be returning to an H10 hotel again in the future
