Christmas in a Muslim country was different...... There was no tacky christmas music being rammed down your throat everywhere you went. however, The Hammamet Garden Resort pulled out all the stops on Christmas Eve.

All the Guests, including many children gathered in the foyer at 6.30 pm to greet father christmas.... the atmosphere was electric. Each child recieved a gift.

Then it was into the dining room for a beautiful table waited 5 course meal with entertainment between each course. It really was a fantastic night.

On reading some of the awful reviews on this site I ask myself this Question..... Did some of these people ever leave the hotel? There are plenty of things to do in Hammamet and the surrounding area.

Camel riding, horse riding, Quad biking, Plenty of places of interest to visit, and of course retail therapy.... this is where you HAVE to haggle to get the best bargains.... If you just go with the flow.... Laugh a lot and keep smiling... start with a ridiculously low offer you will soon get the hang of it.The Tunisian people are very very friendly.

Back to the Hotel.... the outdoor pools are far too cold at christmas...but the indoor pool, although small, was great and spotlessly clean.

Our maid did an excellent job on the room everyday.
The bar staff and the waiters work really hard and are always polite and willing to please....The all inclusive drinks are local and more than adequate.

The food in the dining room is plentiful, varied, tasty and fresh. the dining room staff are friendly and very efficient. All inclusive drinks are served at your table.

All inclusive alcholic drinks end at 11pm....but all inclusive sandwiches, tea coffee and soft drinks are avalable 24 hrs a day.

The general appearance ot the hotel is kept spotlessly clean.

For the price we British pay... who could possibly ask for more.

My wife and I enjoyed ourselves so much that just 10 days after arriving home we returned to the Hammamet Garden for another 2 weeks.

A more pleasant and happy hotel would be hard to find..... We hope to return soon

This holiday was our honeymoon. Upon arrival we were really impressed, even though the transfer to it had taken almost two hours!

On arrival it was about midnight and we found that all the young single girl groups were taken care of before the couples, even though my hubby and I had entered the hotel first we were the last to be spoken to by the staff. However the room was clean and quiet.

The food was ok, we had upset stomachs towards the end of our stay and I in particular was in a lot of pain. Also a word of warning about the Cleftico...one guest managed to set herself alight with the fire keeping it hot underneath. As soon as the staff took her out of the dining room a chef was put on to cut the meat. Needless to say this disturbed us greatly!

The entertainment was good, however as per a previous remark, the entertainment staff were very interested in the women and it became quite annoying at times. However, apart from this they were talented.

The pool was clean and the bars were well stocked.
Beware however, we were hassled several times a day by people in the hotel trying to sell us quad bike rides, camal rides, gallion trips and massages. They followed you around and even woke you if you were asleep by the pool. They do not take no for an answer.

Tunisia itself is very hassling! The medinas very much so, and several times it became too much and we left. Even the walk to the beach people tried to sell you stuff and again on the beach.

We enjoyed our stay but would not go again.

What a fantastic 2 weeks I can't wait to go back. This was my second holiday with this hotel this year and I plan to go back in September and 4 weeks over christmas.

The staff (including reception, waiters, bar staff and animation) where fantastic. The waiters let us go behind the bar and serve, we helped the waiters serve meals and we danced with the animation at night. Although the snoopy disco was for children i was encourged to joining in and I'm 19.

I travel with 5 others the oldest being 89 and he had a brilliant time the staff where alway on hand to help him and fetch what he needed.

Yes some of the staff try it on with the younger females, but you get this where ever you go in Tunisia.

We got all staff members to join in games/jokes that we were playing (they had never seen water bomb till I got there).

The food was different to stuff I eat at home but was great and the waiters would try and prepare anything you asked them to. (You have to ask for a orange for your pancake in the morning).

Overall a fantastic hotel, great staff and can't wait to go back. I'm counting down the days already.

This was the 2nd time in this hotel but the 3rd time in Tunisia. I came here last year and had the time of my life and fell in love out here with a beatiful man who works in this hotel so had to come back to see him and visit Tunisia again.

I love this place, the staff here are amazing and so helpful. They literally bend over backwards to please you.

The rooms are spotlessly clean with clean towels every day and the rooms are swept and mopped daily. The decor in this hotel is truly beatiful marble everywhere and the balcony where the rooms look down is amazing.

The beach was something you see on posters.....A DREAM!!! Honestly white sand and clear water..Wow I have to take a breath thinking of it.

I travel a lot I have been America, all parts of Spain, Turkey, Greeece, Cyprus and France and they don't compare to Tunisia. Although its a poorer country that means nothing there, the people are what make Tunisia so great. They are so welcoming to the English. Honestly they make you feel like royalty.

The clubs and bars are so relaxed you can do your own thing without anyone taking no notice of you.

I love this place and this is going to be the only place I go on holiday now for the rest of my life.

Hammamet Garden Hotel

After reading previous reports I was really concerned about staying at this hotel. OK it is not the Ritz but for the price you are paying it is good value.

Do not expect European standards, this is Africa.

The whole place was regularly cleaned, including the paths in the garden being hosed down every morning.

The rooms are plain but comfortable and serviced every day. Every member of staff I came in contact with was friendly and helpful.

The food is local and people visiting this area should expect local cuisine and not steak and chips, chicken and chips, burger and chips, sausage and chips, need I go on. This was the main basis of the complaints from British people when we were staying there. Each morning there was and egg station with very good freshly cooked omlettes or fried eggs if you preferred. Freshly cooked crepes plus a huge variety of other dishes. At lunch and dinner the salads were superb, there were always freshly cooked grilled meat or fish, pasta dishes, soup and of course chips ! Wild Boar and Quail featured on the menu when we were there.

If you want to experience a different culture and have a holiday that is a bit different,go here. If you want English food, go to Benidorm. After all "when in Rome "

This was my third time staying in this hotel since dec 04.each time I have been all inclusive and have loved every minuite of it.

All inclusive was great and the waiters couldn't do enough for me and my family, they fetched all your drinks for you when you was sun bathing around the pool or even just sat in the bar area.

The waiters in the dining room were lovely and very friendly and would have our drinks waiting on the table for us when we walked in.

I havn't got a complaint about the food either no it's not English food but there wasn't anything wrong with it.

Plenty to choose from and freshly cooked meat everyday.
The rooms were spotless and having fresh flowers on your bed every day made you feel special. The maids always greeted you in the corridors with a smile on their faces.

What can I say about the entertainment well done to all the animation they were all great. Playing games all day and then entertaining you through the night with dances and sketches. Nothing was to much trouble.

A big thank you to Samir who entertained my eight year old sister everynight in the mini disco.
I'm going back again in may with a group of mates and I can't wait!

Overall excellent hotel!

This was my first time in Tunisia and I can't wait to go back.

The hotel was always clean and some members of staff where seen to be cleaning and tidying up throughout the day. The pool was cleaned every morning as were the rooms.

Being my first time in Tunisia (second time abroad - the first being Spain) I was expecting English food. Although this wasn't the case I enjoyed trying new foods and the waiters were great when things didn't taste that great (they took my plate away and fetched my some food that I did like while I was being sick after trying squid).

The hotel staff were great they always had a smile on their face and were willing to help us with problems that arose (telling us places to visit and places to avoid).

The animation team kept me and the others in the group busy and gave us some moments to remember. The animation team was around to take us to the local nightclub after the show and to make sure that we got home each night.

The bar staff were great they couldn't do enough for us, we had them running backwards and forwards fetching us drinks and sugar (ask for this when you order).

I can't wait to go back to this hotel.

1/ Hotel was very clean never a problem

2/ Food great like there food Hygenist said they have to cater for all nationalities so I guess the English get chips! Now get a life and try something else! Great fresh food everyday and have as much as you want! No problem going back and back again!!

3/ Not the best location flat but not alot around.

4/ Always helpful and happy this is assuming you treat them with respect, as I can see no other reason why others posting below have had problems unless of course ;)

5/ Well we went out of season so pools outside were a no go but what made up for that were the best team of childrens entertainers we have ever come across.
