i have only recently returned from my holiday in the le saphir resort, i liked the hotel very much although i found there wasnt much to do unless you were 12yrs and under. the resort is close to the beach, there are local markets and inside the hotel there is staff who tell u about the local excurions trips etc... i myself with my family decided to go camel riding and horse riding which was the best part of the holiday, you have to try it!! the weather in April was bad so tend not to go at that time in the year. however we couldn't get enough of the staff and found that they were always there if u needed help or for just a general chit chat, the main bar men that we got along with was kais, and an older guy amon?? they were fab, i loved the food always a chloice but in the second week of your holiday it starts to repeat its self. however the whole holiday wasnt bliss we did have a roudy rude bunch of grown men and woman turn up to the hotel, they ruined many peoples hols so its best to ask the travel agents, if its known more as a family holtel which i thought it was.
overall a very fanstastic holiday with only 1 let down the entertainment-- the tunisian people are very nice and i would go there again, at the end of the day a holiday is what YOU make it!!!

Th hotel was very clean. However, evrything else was poor. The food was basic and for myself being a vegetarian I had few options to choose from. There was nothing to do in the complex unless you were a child.

Well - what a disappointment. We arrived at Le Saphir at 10.30pm, to find that we coulnd't get anything to eat, having spent most of the day travelling. We went in search of drink, my wine was slopped into a grubby-looking tumbler. The two bars were awful, very 70's, thick cigarette smoke, sticky tables and chairs. The bedrooms weren't much better. Our room was only just clean. The room smelt musty and shut up, the towels and sheets were very worn and smelt of cigarette smoke. The shower was broken, and the basin was coming away from the wall. You couldn't sit on the loo with the door closed, there was nowhere for your legs (not such a problem for my husband, for a pain for me). The pool had no water in it, and the deck chairs and beds and dirty and broken. This has to be one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in. We checked out the following morning, moving into the Lalla Baya hotel in Yasmine Hammamet (which was fab). We only returned to Le Saphir in order to catch our transfer coach back to the airport. I'm sure Le Saphir was very nice a few years ago, but it's in dire need of a refit. Don't go there !!!

Went to Tunisia for Christmas 2003. Had no idea where I was going. I was traveling with friends. Our flight was on Saturday night so by the time were arrived it was 4.30am Sunday dying of thirst and all we wanted was a bottle of water and we couldn't, so I thought, here we go! BUT we woke for breakfast went down and oh my god, the food was brill!
It was a lovely day so we went for a walk and came back and sat by the pool and we were drunk by 5pm - Went across to the night club to the reps show (which was brill all week long )and the Dj was cool.
When it came to Christmas eve - the weather was rubbish but the reps kept it going with quizzes and games - anyway, back to Christmas eve we had a 8, yes 8, course meal which was FAB while the reps ( Emma, Cherleen and Stuart) had a special lined up. They were EXCELLENT. Then Christmas day there was only one rep on which was Emma who we had a fancy dress in the night club and the next day (which was our last as our flight was at 1.25pm saturday). The weather was okay was the best (but hey there was nothing we could do about that).
We sat around the pool for a while, had a laugh and joke with the reps and anyone else that would talk to us haha !Then one of the reps sat with us till 5.30am (fareplay Emma you were able to kept up with the Irish just having a good time.
All 'n' all - had a fab time and we hope to get back next Christmas and where the weather failed the reps made up for it. You guys do/did a brill job and I would not have the guts to get up and do what you guys do(WELL not sober in anyway )

I have just returned from an enjoyable stay at the Hammamet Village hotel ( stayed from 27/7/2003 - 10///2003). I stayed on an all inclusive basis. My commnets briefly are :
Accommodation - Basic , clean rooms with air conditioning & a fridge. Room was also well located with good view of pool. Maid service was good - beds made & towels exchanged every day.
All Inclusive - Food is good although a little repetitive. The resataurant in the Hammmet Village is rather small & the air conditioning is inadequate ( especially compared with Le Saphir's restaurant which is cool & much larger). I recommend the apple crumble - it usually appears at least once a week & it's just like mamma used to make! Main drwback with the All Inclusive is that it doesn't start until 11.00 am & snacks are not as readily available as in A.I. in say Spain. In addition ice creams are NOT included - a major drawback if you have kids with you! Another criticism concerns the drinks. Invariaqbly drinks are served in small disposable plastic cups which besaring in mind the extreme heat in Julky / August are grossly inadequate. Larger drinks in "proper" glasses howeevr are possible should you hail one of the waiters who will bring the drinks to your sun bed or table at night timefor a small tip ( 1/2 dinars a shot depending upon the number of drinks ordered). I would recommend building up a relationship with a waiter ( Kalite & Riad are the best - you can't miss them as they are the ones with the nicest smiles ! ).
Sevice - See above regarding drinks. Generally poor unless you tip little & often when miraculously service improves.
Pizzas - These are quite nice although the toppings are limited. You will need to encourage Bassem ( the pizza chef) to sprinkle on plenty of toppings.
Entertainment - Can be a bit grating after 2 weeks as it is very definitely of the Billy Butlins variety. However if you are prepared to join in and/or have young kids with you then you will enjoy it. The enthusiasm of the enertainment team cannot be faulted - it's a pity that the resoures available to them are obviously restricted. Emma (Dark ) is the newish team leader & she is particularly deserving of praise for her efforts.
Overall - Don't be put off by my comments above as despite some of my criticisms my family & I ( including a 9 year old) did have an excellent holiday. I would come to this complex again but would opt for the Saphir as the accommodation is newly refurbished & although the rooms are smaller & do not have a fridge the overall standard is better than it's sister hotel the Hammamet Village.
Questions - If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask & I'll try & help.

Well if I was to compile a list of holidays in order, for overall enjoyment this would be close to the bottom. Which is a shame because the hotel was nice the staff couldn
