After reading some reports about this hotel I was expecting holiday from hell but I can safely say it was fantastic.

Hotel is a bit dated but very clean, staff are excellent, food is okay. Snacks are great and available most of the day from 10.00am to 11.00pm. Free water all day and the beer is okay.

The beach is excellent and the beach facilities are great and cheap ,I would go back anytime, we loved the area and the people.

Our experience of this hotel is tainted by the fact that my wife had her mobile phone stolen from the room. We tried to report it to reception but because we did not know the number the guy shrugged and said he could not do anything - we only wanted to report it for insurance reasons anyway.
We stayed in the beach part of the hotel and the room was excellent we had a huge double bed and bunks for the kids in their own screened off area. The view was fantastic and we must have been about 50 yards from the beach.
On the whole we enjoyed the food although I did try mixing the harissa paste with some of the stew to try and make a curry towards the end. And boy was I ready for a bacon butty when I got home.
The drinks are fine and if you ask for a large drink then beware they are mega large.
Only went to the disco twice but both times it was virtually empty. Free admission and free drinks though until 2am.
The animation team tried but the jokes and shows are of a pretty low standard.
I was keen to use the cyber hut but found the internet connection to be slow (dialup speed) and the pcs have french keyboards which are not qwerty. So writing a simple email took ages. I am really nit picking now though and I would love to go back only next time I will make sure the wife does not leave her phone in the room during the daytime.

We thought this hotel was fantastic. The only down-side was the food in that it is very repetitive.

The staff were so friendly. We took a (moody) 13 year old girl, but the staff even managed to cheer her up. We could see that they were absolutely brilliant with children, particularly the animation team.

When you arrive, you are welcomed with a fruit drink, and asked to fill in a short form whilst sitting in a very comfy chair, this is while the bell boys are getting your suitcases from the coach. The bell boys will then bring all your suitcases to your room.

The restaurant is a self-service buffet, and when sitting for lunch or dinner, the waiters fetch your drinks to your table. The bar nearest reception is open from 8.00am and serves alcoholic drinks, coffee, tea and soft drinks until midnight. You can ask at anytime for water, they give it out in bottles.

The gardens around the hotel are absolutely beautiful. If you come out of the reception area into the car park, turn left and follow the paths, you will find large birdcages with parakeets and lovebirds. Nearby is a large wooden hut, inside which is the cyber room. Further on is the stables, where you can wander in and stroke the horses. Horse riding costs 30tnd (aprrox

The hotel itself was in good condition, on entering the foyer on arrival you are welcomed with a drink of fresh orange while the staff took your luggage to your rooms.

The food was mostly catered for the French and German but there was plenty to choose from.

The location was good right on the beach, which was nice and clean.

The hotel staff were excellent especially dhari in the restaurant, he was great with our kids.

We wouldn't go back to this hotel again.

This was our first trip abroad with the children and we enjoyed every minute.

The hotel's attitude to cleanliness was first rate. Our room was cleaned and made up every day. Each morning, the public areas were swept and hosed down to get rid of any drink marks and keep dust/sand to a minimum. The garden and maintenance staff were not instrusive and they obviously took a great deal of pride in making sure the gardens etc. were immaculate.

There was a wide range of food to choose from, although it did lean more towards french/german tastes or had a 'tunisian twist' to the recipe - the burgers and sausages had a slightly spicy taste, but our oldest child still devoured them. We had fresh strawberries and cream most nights as well as fresh melon slices and other delights. The salads were nice (you'll notice I've broken a cardinal rule here but did not suffer - I guess the fruit/veg was washed in bottled or other fresh water).

Bottled water for drinking was readily available from either the 2 bars, the main or beach restaurants - all part of being AI. Wine was available in red/white or rose and the local beer/lager was enjoyable (the beer's not that strong in my opinion). As imported goods cost too much, some items like breakfast cereals have been replicated in Tunisia, so you get the Tunisian version of coco-pops etc. We took our own wheatabix which our boys promptly ignored in favour of the cereals provided by the hotel!

A strong point of the hotel was its immediate location onto the beach - you didn't have to leave the complex, unlike the neighbouring Le Hammamet hotel which required residents to cross the access road and walk down a (wide) alley to get to their private beach. The sand was kept clean and there were plenty of deck chairs/loungers available free.

All the staff were friendly - it's an understatment that the hotel makes the claim that the "child is king" at this resort. Laura and Leila in the Miniclub were so good the children kept going back. They did face painting (I've pictures of our boys as aliens, batman, spiderman, pirates, indians); trips to the beach; art and general play.

The pool staff were attentive to getting you mattresses to go with the lounger when you picked your spot. They also kept the areas around the pool safe by promptly getting rid of any build up of water - it was squeegied into the flower beds.

Make their day by learning to say 'shu-kran' as thank you - its appreciated.

The animation team did a very reasonable job too. They organised football, volleyball, basketball, darts, aerobics, aquarobics was well as the childrens minidisco and evening entertainment - a person point for men: avoid getting roped into the Mr Les Orangers contest unless you want to end up parading around in front of the crowd in your underwear!!

I know there have been a few previous comments about the condition of the hotel which concerned us before we left, but having returned would like to add my thoughts to:

1. Some of the exterior floor tiles were cracked, but there weren't any missing pieces that could lead to a tripping incident.

2. The concrete 'pipe' in the childrens pool only stands proud of the wall by about 3cm but is (a) visible and (b) is above the water line. I did not see anyone injured by it.

3. There are the odd patches of missing grout between the pool tiles but again, nothing to cause anyone bodily harm.

As to whether we'd go back the answer is a definite YES - I've already made enquiries about costs for next year. In chats with other families, the response was similar - the holiday 'ticked all the right boxes' and the children loved it. In fact this is the first holiday where upon arrival one of our children has not asked when we're going home - he enjoyed himself so much that he didn't want each day (or the whole holiday) to end!.

As a final couple of point to note:
1. just watch out for the strength of the sun - I got caught out on the first day and was very careful to keep protected - as a result I have a lovely tan!!!!

2. Arrival at Monastir was a big pain - it took over an hour to get through passport control (it did mean our bags could be picked straight off the conveyor belt tho!) and there is still a 1hr 30min transfer to Hammamet which meant we didn't get to our room until after midnight.

Just returned from Les Orangers, had an absolutely brilliant time with our 10 and 16 year old who loved it.

Definitely would go back.

Also worried about previous reviews but could not fault the hotel at all. Very child friendly, lots to keep 10 year old son amused and if he's happy we are!

Food very good, no tummy troubles at all, weather perfect. Hotel staff very attentive.

Ideal for a complete chill-out holiday.

When Arriving in Tunisia my sister and I looked at each other in fright and we couldn't stop laughing as all we thought was 'where have we come to'

When we arrived at Les Oranges hotel we were a little relieved as the hotel looked lovely and the staff were really friendly.

We did have to wait for our rooms a lot longer than other guests as our room was not ready and we were not by the beach but by the front gate which was a little bit of pain because we had the children and they just wanted to be by the pool and we would not let them go with out one of us supervising them.

The first night after our main meal I called home and said I was coming back early as I could not live off the hotel food. The food was bad but I don't know whether we got used to it or as the days went on it improved.

The staff were fantastic the place was outdated a little but there was so much entertainment for the children that because they were loving the holiday and having a little independence we (the adults) had a fab time.

The beach was great and what more could you ask for when it only takes you two minutes to walk to it from you hotel.

I love a bargain and in Tunisia you couldn't give your money away especially with the men on the beach who were selling you jewellery for virtually nothing.

I am definitely going back next year infact my sister returned with her husband in September she advised that the staff were still as polite as ever. We are going to bring more of the family next year and we are hoping they will love it as much as us (we think they will if they just get over the first day).

I must admit that the Tunisian men do love a blonde so if your single dye your hair because you will be on a winner all day. I did find it a little off putting for the first few days because I have never had that much male attention before but by the end of the week I was loving it in fact so much that when I got home I was depressed for three weeks!!! ha ha Don't get me wrong not one man crossed the line. I believe the Tunisians think a blonde haired person is lucky, I couldn't bring myself to tell them mine was out of a bottle (why should have I? as I said earlier I've never had that much male attention!!)

I would advise any one to go for a week because it is cheap and cheary.

Hello! I recently came back from this hotel and must say that I had a lovely holiday.

The weather wasnt too good but I still enjoyed it! The Staff are very friendly, and, may I add, nice looking on the hole! Hehe.

I found that the hotel staff did their best to make sure that everyone was enjoying theirselves and were always smiley!

I can't wait to go back (And it has nothing to do with the fact that I am in love with one of the horse riding people from next to the hotel! :-)

If you are taking your teenage daughters then keep an eye open for them, as they are bound to attract some attention from the local Tunisian lads!

I have just come back from a visit to Les Orangers, and to tell the truth I was worried about going, given the negative reports I have read on this web site. However my family and I (including a two year old child) have just returned from a really good holiday, so thought I better add a positive review to be fair to the hotel.

We realised we weren't going to be visiting a five star hotel and therefore we open about the quality of accommodation and service we expected to find - when you only pay
