This was my first visit to Riadh Palms though I visit Sousse regularly. The room I was first given was large, beautifully decorated, with a white tiled floor, cream walls and pale green doors, a big double bed and an enormous bathroom and good cupboard space but an extremely narrow balcony. Unfortunately it was also on the second floor, facing a roundabout on a busy road, there was no hot water and you had to actually hold the adaptor into the sockets otherwise they fell out. I complained and was told it would be sorted but as it hadn't been done the next day I asked to be moved. I was then moved to a much smaller and dingier room, containing both a double and single bed with a gloomy bathroom on the 7th floor, still facing the noisy road and with a lovely view down into the less attractive parts of the area. I was told a pool or sea-view room would be an extra 5 dinar a day so decided to stay put. On the plus side there was plenty of hot water, the sockets worked and the balcony was bigger and caught the afternoon sun. The bed was comfortable once I had picked the best of the pillows.

The food was quite good and there was a reasonable choice, though sometimes unidentifiable and the soups and deserts were excellent. I always stick to bread, butter and apricot jam for breakfast in Tunisia though they had the usual things, including cereals and doughnuts and the tea was fine.

The lounge was quite pleasant, with plenty of comfortable chairs and tables and good lighting.
Entertainment took place in what was called The Terrace, a soulless barnlike place at the back, heated inadequately by a couple of patio heaters. This housed the stage and plastic tables and chairs and was used for table-tennis during the day. The Animation team were a group of extremely energetic and likeable young men who provided 'cabaret' on a few evenings, consisting mainly of them dancing, though one evening they had the usual 'fakir show' and on another they did a musical quiz which was boring in the extreme. Apparently they have been together since last June so I feel they have had plenty of time to get better organised. The staff were not particularly friendly and sometimes didn't respond when you greeted them.

All in all it wasn't bad and I had an enjoyable holiday but the hotel hardly lived up to its 4* rating and I won't be in a hurry to return.

I dont know where to start. This place is a hell hole. It may look posh, but hey, if your English do not even consider going. They hate English and are totally disrespectful.

The food was absolutely disgusting, cold, no choice unless you like rice (cold) spaghetti (cold) more rice. Fish with their heads and bodies in tact in oil.(cold) Not a chip in site ever. Don

I stayed at the Hotel Riadh Palms. The hotel appears impressive from the entrance lobby, the pool is large and clean and the hotel is right on a lovely sandy beach and is very clean inside and out (except the toilets which smell). Thats where the goods bits stop. The food is awful. Its spicey, often luke warm and no basics such as chips and chicken at night. Contrary to what some of the sites say about the hotels facilities, other than at lunch theres only one place to eat in the hotel. The bars are barely that and are very limited. The drinks are warm and hit and miss and the juice gives you stomach cramp. The food is not as you would expect from all inclusive. The nightclub does not exist. Fair play to the entertainment staff, who are very enthusiastic and friendly. I will never go back.

Well when we walked through the doors on arrival it looked lovely. Looked clean and quite posh. Got into the room, again simple but quite nice.

There were meant to be 3 people staying in the room, fortunately for my friend she broke her foot so she couldnt come. Would have been too small for 3 people.

Went down for lunch and I can tell you something, I wouldn't feed the food to my dog. It was cold, you had the same thing for breakfast as for dinner the night before.

The beds were hard and the pillows felt like sleeping on a lump of coal. The entertainment was the same most nights -extremely boring. Some of the staff were quite friendly, but there was a language barrier and most of the people could not understand English.

I tell you something, please do not ever visit this hotel. It is definately the biggest waste of money and by the end of the holiday, I have never wanted to come home as much in my life!

I stayed in Riadh Palms for one week all inclusive at the beginning of April.

The staff were all very friendly and tried their best to keep you entertained throughout the day, and night. The entertainment at night was ok, however they had only just started the shows a few weeks ago, and weren't professionally trained, so I gave them the benefit of doubt.

The food wasn't to my taste, but I am very picky. My friend, Natasha (review can be seen below) seemed to have a full plate every meal, although she did complain that it wasn't very nice......

The staff couldn't have been friendlier. Always there to help you out and advise you on the prices you should be paying outside of the hotel --- all quite cheap!!! A personal taxi driver for the full day only costs around

We stayed here from 22-29 November in room 450. Spacious: two single beds, bathroom with separate toilet. Balcony with view on nice garden, pool and sea with 2 chairs and table. TV and telephone; no mini-bar or hair-dryer. Sheets and towels changed daily by friendly maids (tipped. Beds made up in traditional Tunisian way.

All in was breakfast, lunch, dinner and in between snacks (for the hungry) at 11.00 and 16.00 hrs. Free coffee, tea, juices and cooled mineral water all day. Free local alcoholic drinks before dinner and in the evenings; imported drinks have to be paid for.

Hotel was maybe 1/3 booked; mainly by Dutch, Germans and Danish people. We also heard some Italian and Romanian spoken. Good choice of food at right temperature. We once went to entertainment and saw a nice fakir-show.

Upon arrival at this hotel we were quite impressed. A short while later it became obvious that it needs updating. It is clean apart from the toilets (go to your room if you need to go). The staff are nice and most speak good english. The rooms are very basic (no fridge). All rooms have a sea view. You control your own air con. The lifts are are nightmare especially at breakfast and dinner. The food is not bad always beef & chicken. The orange & lemon juice is warm. No diet coke etc available. Snacks all day at pool/beach.
The pool area and gardens are huge and there were plenty of sunbeds even at 10am! Hats off to the animation team who work all day to ensure you have a good time (the kids'll love them)! We did have a good time. Didn't feel safe outside hotel. Would go back to Tunisia but just not to this resort/hotel.

I have seen the reviews and they all seem to be 2005, so anyway I have just returned 2 days ago and I want you all to know it is as bad as what they all say above!!!

You dont have to pay for the sunbeds but by the look of the amount that was around the pool is like they sold them all. There was about 200 beds in total and the hotel take about 800 so you can guess the other foreign tourists had them all.

Still no english people there.

Dont even start me on the food, if you want chilli or cauliflower for breakfast!!! enough said you can image the rest and it wll be worse!

You need a massage on your return as sleeping on the floor was much better!!

Entertainment is non existant and last for 30 mins all night, if it was not for the weather I would have said get me out of here.

Anyway final comment:

Never go to this hotel! This is the hotel from hell!!

The hotel room was clean and tidy with great view onto the pool and beach. No British in the hotel other than myself which i found to be a little uncomfortable.

Food was buffet style with no queue due to time of season and not going in the evening till after 8pm. Found the choice to be good with each evening having a white meat, red meat, fish and pasta dish not to mention Tunisian food selection.

Unfortunatly the pool was emptied inorder for the repairs to be made to broken tiles before the season started however as it was raining most the time it didnt matter much.

I sat on the beach a couple of afternoons with no charge made for use of the chairs.

The staff were all very friendly and treated me with respect. Animation team looked newly founded with routines on an evening often resulting in one doing it wrong - this added to the entertainment value for me - given time they will be ready for the season. 10/10 for eagerness / passion though.

The hotel is classed as a 4 star but is really a bad 2 star.

The food was ALWAYS cold, and not very appetising. No diet drinks for sale. Room service non-existing.

A huge hotel for over a thousand people but only 2 lifts out of 4 ever worked. Very expensive charges for mattresses on the beach & around the pool. Most of the beds were broken and still charge you for the use of.

Entertainment very poor & very loud.

In the restaurant they kept it lit with only half of the lights on. The hotel DOES NOT cater for English people only Germans and the Eastern bloc. Very very poor all around.

The only 2 items that was good was the location (right on the beach) and the friendliness of the staff.

Will never go to this hotel again.
