The Riad Palm is a massive big hotel situated about a mile and half from sousse centre.Guests are mostly international, with a distinctive lack of British people.
It is a good base for exploring Sousse, the medina, and Port El Kantoui. All these are easily reached by taxi for about 3 Dinars.
This hotel rates quite well with most others I have stayed in Tunisia. The rooms are clean the food plentiful and varied. The food which is buffet style is mostly warm and not hot.
The queue to get food is terrible. The serving area, seems like rush hour. There is another serving area, though people seem not to notice it. Hawkers are discouraged from the private beach area.
We had to pay 2 dinars for the bed, 2 dinars for matterrss and 2 for a chair on the beach. By the pool, you pay only for the mattress. The entertainment is low key.The night club is hit and miss.

The place is very nice, it has its own beach and nice swimming pool. There is not much entertainment for young adults, there is a party for kids, and the in-hotel disco is boring. The rooms are clean with central air conditioning, with good view for the most., The food is OK.
Sousse is a nice city, go to the 'medina'=old town, to make some good bargains, and if you want good party and disco go to Bora Bora disco.
You can also go sailing on "pirate ships" for 10-15 euros which is good( couple hours of sailing), and camel riding for another 10-15 euros (it is boring, and I feel sorry for poor camels), and there are great tours in the country also from 15-120 euros, 1-3 days, all inclusive.
Try out the little buffets on the street, cheap and excellent food. One great problem they sell only their own beer... and a lot of non-alcoholic beer, and alcoholic drinks are expensive, so take some with you.
