Royal beach is a well presented hotel in a good location away from the town and main road.

It has its own private beach reasnable sized outdoor swiming pool and a small indoor, staff are all very helpfull. the hotel is slightly dated and could do with updating the brochure described it as a 3 star but is more of a 2 but we where very happy with the hotels cleanliness and location.

Food is a of a nighmare always busy go a bit later than the start time or you will be knocked over in the rush and is hard to get a seat,go before 9.00am for breakfast or you will miss it.

Food looked a bit recycled sometimes and we did have upset tummys but speaking to other people from other hotels we decided it was the way they cook the food in Tunisia, there was not very much selection of food on the menu.

Entertainment is great for kids my daughter loved the club dance the two lads that do the entertainment and are great with kids and adults they get everyone involved if they want to. Each night there is different shows on at 9.30 but is repeated the following week so miss a few night if you are there for 2 weeks so there is something to watch the 2nd week all the shows are excellent.

One thing I would say please go to the welcolme meeting the rep is excellent and gives good advice about the area and what not to do and dont we normally gice the welcome meeting a miss but we are glad we attended in Tunisia.

Trips to do are the camel train but be warned the temperatures in the desert are very hot lots of cream and hats it was over 40 degrees when we did it. The other is the African Dream, Basically a Zoo and evening entertaiment.

We enjoyed our stay I think we would go again but not rush back.

The hotel was as expected. The food was excellent, although after 2 weeks we were ready for some good old home cooking. Location excellent, the only reason we didn't rate it 5 suns was because we found Port Kantanoui just along the road to be a better area to stay. (Tunisia is not comercialised like your typical spanish hols.)
What really made the holiday for us was the staff. They would do anything for us, and we had a fantastic last night with friends and the entertainment rep.
A little tip. The cost of living is very cheap, and we always had some change for tips. We found this went a long way, for example tipping the pool man always ensured we had sunbeds by the poolside!

Dirty and located next to a public car park which the brochure fails to advertise. This gets extremely noisy with car horns blaring through the night and raves which become unbearable. Don't forget the casino at the end of the hotel drive that they fail to tell you has been shut down for years.

This hotel is dirty beyond belief. Even the public toilets don't provide simple basic essentials like toilet paper and soap to wash with.

Air conditioning only works in the bar area...Amazing..Cockroaches in the rooms...UUrr still not got over that. Worst of all no sleep. The night club under the hotel goes on till the last reveller leaves.... 4.30am most mornings. Fighting outside your rooms oh and the time a woman was assaulted by a Moroccan gentleman in her room. Great fun

The hotel Royal beach was spotlessly clean and the service first rate.

The breakfasts are the strangest I've seen and we didn't enjoy them at all. Hot vegetable concoctions, french stick and cream cheese, croissant or boiled eggs by the ton! Not really anything children like. My son had no breakfast for the week.

In the evening there is a very large choice of meals and all were delicious. Large queues and stroppy people, waiting in terror of somebody getting too many chips, spoilt the experience.

The waiters are very attentive but one wonders if that would be the same if they didnt recieve a tip. Tipping is essential and we got through a collosal ammount of money through tipping.

These people have a ready smile as long as you keep handing over cash, if you dont, the smile slides immediateley away.

We stored our luggage in the luggage storage area on the day we left and have come home to find my

Reading the reports just posted i have to disagree what they said. The hotel was brilliant, so clean and the staff so friendly. But one thing was the food, but you only had to ask and they were more than happy to help and tell you what the food was. If you are a fussy eater you might find it hard but if you like to try things then you will be fine.

You did have to pay for sunlounges but it was 2 dinear less than a pound each! I have never felt more safe on a beach. The hotel had its own security staff who wouldn't let any people trying to sell you things come near you and people to help you with the sunlounges and if you wanted any food they would happily get it for you, excellent service.

As well the entertainment was the same a few nights but tunisia is not like your spains, greeces etc its a place you have to go out and explore. People doing the entertainment made a real effort but its only a small hotel compared to the rest that we saw so we didn't expect much from the enterainment

All the staff were excellent and they were not pushy at all for tips. They hardly ask for money and giving them half a dinear which is less than 25p it was alot to them!

I would go again without a doubt, the location excellent on the beach just had to walk through the gate and you was on the beach. 10mins away from sousse centre jump in a taxi and the most we payed no more than 3 dinear just over a pound for 10min taxi ride wasn't bad.

If you have a family you might struggle, but is the perfect place to go for a couple!

Hotel basic but clean with all amieniteis close to hand if you want to relax and enjoy the sun. Staff very freindly and helpful.

One tip miss the Madenia (market place) unless you have the patiance of a saint.

The temp was 44 degress with locals hassling you to purchase the tat they sell, either you love it or hate it, guess what I thought.

Hotel very basic, I have stayed in hotels all over the world, but nothing like this.

Food terrible all the family lost weight and very ill on our return. There is plenty of choice but you dont know what you are eating. There is only one toaster which allows for only two slices of bread for the wole of the hotel. If you like eggs you will be o.k. If you go & travel with children take your own cereal.

You also have to pay for the sun bed covers at the poolside.

When I first arrived at the hotel I thought this was going to be a relaxing holiday, but how wrong was I. The food was horrible and isn't ideal for children as you don't know what your eating.

The hotel wasn't very clean nor was the outside pool which I was dissapointed about. The staff were quite friendly but very pushy especially when it came down to money.

If you was to visit the different towns like medina then i wouldn't advise it because there is so much hassle from the locals and it can be stressful especially if your with children.

The entertainment was appaling because it was the same each night which forced most guests to go to bars and other hotels for entertainment. There are no kids club or activities for the hotel quests or arcades for kids to play in.

This was a holiday from hell and I wouldn't recomend it to anyone with kids because there's nothing to do.

My wife and I spent a wonderful relaxing fortnight at this hotel, the hotel is clean if a little faded.

Do not stay in room 118 unless your are deaf or can manage on 2 Hrs sleep a night.

Staff are all fabulous.Location is about as close as you can get to the sea without actually getting wet.

I would recommend Bed and Breakfast at this hotel, not because the food is bad but because there is so much choice within walking distance. Our favourite restaurant was called "Una Astoria" about five minutes walk from the hotel and it is possibly one of the best meals I have ever had and cheap too.

This hotel is not as plush as some of the nearby hotels nor does it have some of the services, but it more than makes up for this with the fantastic atmosphere which it generates amongst its guests.

I returned from the Royal Beach on 29/12/04 (still wishing I was there).

I went with a male friend, on arrival we were given a room with double bed (on the first floor). We had requested a twin room. I informed the very helpful receptionist and we were shown two further rooms and decided on one on the third floor, a very nice room with three single beds, a balcony and a beautiful view (literally on our doorstep)of the med and the sun rise every morning.

The maid came every morning to tidy and replace towels and left everything in the shape of a fan and on Christmas eve on our return we found a sheet on one of the beds wishing us a merry Christmas done in fresh petals (the maids did receive a good tip when we left).

Food was very good, lots of choices and very healthy.

Location was supper, right on the beach.

Staff were helpful and friendly, even organizing a booking at a Hotel in Douz for the night.

The entertainment left a lot to be desired but we didn't go for that reason so it didn't affect us and I would definitely go again.
