Location
We'd been allocated a cot for the baby which was left by the side of the put-me-up bed our 10 year old was meant to sleep on so we moved the cot into the twin bedroom which then left us about 6 inches all around the beds to move. Absolutely awful.
We asked the rep to be moved and to be fair we were offered another room straight away - which wasn't that much bigger but more comfortable with the cot in our bedroom.
The cot by the way was a rickety old think with stained fabric and rusty metal - it folded in half and the mattress didn't fit to the edges leaving a 2 inch gap all around which we had to pad out with rolled up towels so the baby didn't hurt himself.
The second room was opposite the lift and at the side of the stair well which I can imagine in high season would be a nightmare. We heard the "clip clop" of heels up and down the corridors and up and down the stairs but thankfully it didn't disturb the kids. Also it sounded like the room above's shower and toilet drained down the sides of our room!!
The rooms are fairly well equipped - the only thing I would recommend they should add is a toaster! We didn't cook any meals in the room but there were plenty of utensils for rustling up snacks and things on the two electric rings! The maids kept the place clean and the towels were changed regularly although the bedding was only changed a couple of times. The maid was a bit cheeky though and after she'd done sculptures of swans and hearts on our beds with the towels left us a note using petals and leaves which read "T I P" on the bed!!
The hotel at this time of year (last 2 weeks of the season) was very quiet and we had to dine in the hotel restaurant a couple of times on account of the tornadoes and torrential rain!
We didn't find the food and drinks in the hotel particularly good value for money and its a fairly basic menu but the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
They did try to get us to stay in for the BBQ night but even the rain didn't stop us going out and finding our own entertainment - with only a handful of guests in the hotel it didn't seem worth paying over the odds for a glorified Turkish night. I don't think we missed anything.
The pool area was kept clean and at this time of year we didn't have any problem getting sunbeds and parasols (when the sun finally came out!). The games area under the shade at the end of the pool had closed though so the table tennis and darts wasn't available for our 10-year old.

The rooms were spotless and the cleaners worked really hard so if you stay don't forget to tip them.
Waiters ...... well what can I say, if your single they will make an effort to talk with you but for the likes of us they only spoke to us to ask if we wanted a drink or something to eat which we have never had this with hotel waiters before. We have been to Turkey 4 times and the waiters in our other hotels were fantastic. The head waiter was always asking guests to go to the theme nights or eat in the restaurant but a couple of times of saying no he left you alone. The young lad on reception (NOT THE ONE WITH THE GOATY BEARD) was lovely and we liked him.
The thing that really annoyed us was we got told off for taking water to to pool, considering we were buying drinks from them as well I thought this was a bit off, we need water to survive and I had a 9 year old who needed lots of it as the temperature was hitting mid 40s some days.
You have to go to Big Bens the food is great, also to watch a great group go to Bistro Elite in the centre the group start playing at 10.30. Go on the back to nature trip for a chill out day and also the white river rafting was a good trip .
All in all we had a great holiday but this hotel needs to worked towards something for children and families.

The room was cleaned every day and the linen was changed frequently. We even had sculptures made from the towels left on our beds.
All the staff were very friendly and keen to chat, their English was very good (as was their Swedish, German and Russian), they were always willing to give us information on their way of life and customs and to teach us some basic Turkish! They did ask if you would like drinks, ice creams etc. but moved on if you said no thank you. It was nice to be waited on while relaxing by the pool!
The food and drink in the hotel was no dearer than most other restaurants we visited and a bottle of water was 2 YTL or about 83p.
We went to the hotel BBQ and staff night and had excellent food and entertainment at both for a very reasonable price. All food and drink bought in the hotel is charged to your room. This saves you having to carry money with you to the pool. We paid our bill daily and had no discrepancies.
The location of the hotel is good,on a quiet road away from the main street but only 5 minutes walk to bars, clubs and restaurants.
Overall we had an excellent holiday and would not hesitate to visit again and recommend this hotel and resort to anyone visiting Turkey.

The food in the hotel was excellent and with a good choice of things to eat during the day or night at a low price, with English food also being served in and out of the hotel, big Ben is round the corner with the most brilliant food witha sports bar.. The bar stays open at the hotel till the last person goes to bed, so if you wanted it could be open 24 hours a day.
The staff are very hard working and friendly, but i wouldn't be surprised if they asked you out one night as it happened to me about 10 times.
i found the hotel brilliant and am going back this year with friends and family, 8 of us in total, mainly teenagers though, we loved it last year and would recommend it to anybody.

The staff remembered us from the year before which was impressive considering the number of guests they accomodate.
The service was first class with nothing too much trouble for any of the staff members.
Food & drink is great, entertainment good, although play area for younger children had been removed from previous years.
we can highly recommend this hotel & all it's facilities to all with loads to see & do in the resort.

The apartment itself is very well equipped, with every thing that you require to make a meal.
My only complaint is the waiting staff, whilst you are sat around the pool the staff continuously come around asking you if you want a drink, something to eat, or an ice cream. I know that they have there job to do, by trying to make us buy something, but it really gets on your nerves to keep on saying NO! every 5 minutes, the snacks that they serve during the day are very overpriced, it is nearly 3 pounds for a plate of chips which are always cold, egg on toast was 4 pounds. The waiting staff only spoke to us when they asked if we wanted to buy something, there was no rapport with them, you are not allowed to take your own water to the pool you have to buy theres, which was 7 lire, nearly 3 pounds for a small bottle.
The BBQ night was awful, they constantly ask you to buy a ticket which was 10 pounds, but when you sit at the table on the night, they come around and ask you what wine you would like, red or white, giving you the impression that it is part of the meal that you have paid for. It is not, until you come to pay your bill that you realise that you have to pay 40 lire for the wine. A lot of guests got caught out on this.
The entertainment on the BBq night is for children, with performing poodles, and a girl dancing with snakes, which I thought was snake cruelty.
The drinks are very over priced, we had 1 brandy, and 1 effes, our bill for those 2 drinks was 21 lire.
If you dont use the hotel resturant the staff get very shirty with you, every time we left the building, the staff would tell us that we do have our own resturant you know, I actually said to them that I would not use there resturant because, we can get a far cheaper meal and drinks out side, with better entertainment.
In the end I spoke to the Hotel Manager and told him, that we were fed up with having to run through this gauntlet every time we left the building, after this they left us alone. Everyone that I spoke to said that they felt as though they had to eat in the resturant because of the attitude of the staff.
On the few nights that they do have entertainment, it is is aimed at the children not for the adults, we had a room overlooking the pool, and on the second BBQ night that we were there, we told tham that we did not want to go as the food was not worth paying 10 pounds for. That night we arrived back early and decided to have a drink on the balcony, we watched the entertainment, and the hotel staff did not like the fact that we were watching the entertainment with out paying for the priviledge.
I found that this hotel tried there hardest to make you part with your money, if you do go there make sure that you pay your bill every day, because a lot of the guests, us included, were billed for food and drinks that we did not have.
The Bonapart is a very good hotel, but the staff let it down, you could not laugh and joke with them, it was as if they were scared of being seen talking to you, other than to ask you to buy something.
I would not visit this hotel again for this reason, I do not have to spend my money in there bar every night, I pointed out to them that it is self catering, we can do what we like, every other hotel that we have been in we have made friends with the staff but this one, we had to avoid them.

Myself and my Wife go to the Bonapart twice yearly and stay for a month each time, the hotel staff cannot do enough for us as I am wheelchair bound I would recommend this hotel to anyone in the same boat as myself.
The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean and with regards to the staff the management and all staff make you feel extremly welcome.
Alanya is not as commercial as some other parts of Turkey but the Bonapart is one of the best if not the best hotel in this area.
Looking forward to Returning in May 2006 for another month of pure bliss

The hotel itself is spotless clean.
The location is on a quite dimly lit side street.
The bar staff are great but the reception staff constantly mither you to eat and drink in their hotel and make you feel guilty for eating out ect.
The entertainment is the staff dressing up dancing ect. Everything is cheaply done and the drinks are expensive and no money changes hands - the drinks are charged to your room. Lots of guests were overcharged including myself on 2 occasions.
When you leave the hotel the restaurant staff and shop staff are stood outside their businesses constantly mithering you, I would never visit this hotel again.
