Beaches

Reosrt is a bit basic but the market is defintely worth a visit on Saturday morning. Don't forget to haggle for the best price - walk away if in doubt and surely enough the Turks will call you back. Half the price inititally and work from there. Lots of designer fakes which are very good quality!!

The area suited us down to the ground. There was a small selection of shops, restuarants and bars and a market very Saturday. We do not like to go somewhere too built up but it did take a while to get used to being approached in the street by the shopkeepers all the time. The beach was not very good. We tried to walk along further but got stopped by a security guard from another hotel and sent back. It was very rocky and the beached shelved steeply and there are no romantic walks along it in the evening - its shut off.

The resort was generaly clean but with some run-down areas (or areas not yet developed)
Did't really acces the resort entertainment but the local disco's (or they may have been entertainment in other hotels - as we didn't see any disco's in local area) were rather noisy at night(through to the early hours) - making it difficult to sleep (We are getting old I know). Quite few restaurants - but didn't access - as we were skint & on an AI basis. We did find one cafe were staff were friendly BUT NOT PUSHY (on corner where local market starts0. They were like what we had been used too from previous visits to Turkey. Staff in state controlled shops (e.g. jewelers) were also very nice & helpful - but all other shops & restaurant staff tended to be too pushy (though funnily one fruit & veg shop keeper was very nice & very apologetic after he realized that he had embarred our 13yr old daughter - he gave her present of a fruit basket - with apologies to me, her father & her). Also despite the pushiness the staff did tend to have a sense of humour - so we often had a 'laugh'with them. Strangely the market stall holdetrs were less pushy & less brash than those we have encountered in Fethiye & Hissonaru. Generally prices were higher than there also- though teh fake gear was of better quality.
Beaches tended to belong to particular hotels - at least on the stretch where we were staying & these were generally of a good standard - the 'local' beach was not so clean in that there was rubbish such as cans & bottles & bits of old furniture.
