With my boyfriend and I in our mid twenties we were wondering if this resort was the right choice.
If you are looking for a resort with lots of British this certainly would not be the hotel for you, we were lucky to know a couple already there. Alot of the people generally seem to keep themselves to themselves. When we first got there the hotel resembled more of a holiday camp, loads of kids even though we chose June/July to try to avoid them.
I was surprised more people/kids have not been seriously injured from the unsupervised kids flying down the water slides, in groups of 5 or more, sometimes paying no attention to the people in the pool below, landing almost on top of them.
The food was actually quite good but it did get quite repetitive towards the end. We both enjoyed the selection and the fact you could get food almost 24 hours a day. We did however, both get what they call Turkish Tummy, thankfully at the end of the holiday. They say that it could be the water and not to blame the food but we only drank bottled water...and can they really convince people it was the ice....
A really good plus to the whole resort was that the all inclusive alcohol was available 24 hours a day - at our previous hotel the alcohol was only available until 11pm.
Altinkum bars and clubs were quite good but alot of families, not a great deal of youngsters of our age - but it depends what you want I guess.
All in all the hotel was quite nice, facilities good, beach and sea nice. Rooms could have been alot better 'very' standard. Overall though the hotel was clean. The reception staff quite unhelpful and only got involved with our transfer difficulties when they were really pushed to do so. The rest of the staff though I thought were very pleasant and helpful, even though it would have been nice to see them smile abit more.
I would go back to that hotel again, yes, but in say 10 years time when I'd appreciate it more.

Almost riots over food it was dreadful by about five meals in 14 days you cue in morning 5 to 10 minuits to get your toast then maybe anything up to 20 minuits for fried eggs or omlettes. Dinners where disgusting, went with about a third of guests down to town and bought food.
Noise was horific building right under bedroom window and you seem to be in the middle of a building site all staff would say sorry no other room available and we know we have a problem with food we are trying to rectify it it took an awful lot of angry people complaining just to get some edible meals unless you like salad everday or food coverd in creams and other just to hide food.
Loads had upset stomachs as i and my wife did do not go without diacalm.
Entertainment for grown ups is dreadful, alright if you like a disco for young kids after midnight.
I feel i have had no rest and no holiday the only good thing their is the sun . Beach is so small not like photo shows no room to move. Most common topic of holiday was how bad it was. You would have to pay me a lot of money to stay in this hotel again when you can get much better 2 star hotels that are central and doing good food at

The food could have been better but we have had worse. Twenty four hour bar made this a fantastic value for money holiday.
At the time of our holiday the hotel was only perhaps half full so it was relatively quiet.
All in all we thought the hotel and holiday represented very good value for money.
As we really enjoyed our holiday we would return without any doubts.

Our room was large, clean and air conditioned. The dining room was air conditioned which was a godsend when the temperature soared on the second week of our stay. The food was reasonable, however there were queues at the only servery and the choices limited, (especially for children who do not like junk food). The salad bar was not chilled and hot food soon went cold. The hotel location was ok, either a short Dolmus journey or 15 minute walk into town. Staff were friendly and attentive, great with kids and spoke good English.
Now to the not so positive elements. We were on the third floor, at the front and quite close to the central staircase/atrium. The 24 hour bar is situated on the ground floor adjacent to the central atrium/stairway.
Excessively loud music is played constantly in this bar and the fire doors, which when closed took out some of the sound, were wedged open. Whilst we expected some noise up to midnight, we did not expect to be kept awake by bass music until 03.00 hours some nights. We had to keep the air conditioning on to drown out the constant sound of music.
The volume on Turkish Night was ridiculously high and spoilt our enjoyment of the only real entertainment of the week. The childrens disco started a little on the late side and again the music was played far too loud.
The brochure should state that this is a noisy hotel, paticularly if your room is close to certain facilities, to enable prospective guests to make an informed decision. The thing that would prevent us from revisiting this Hotel is that it is the noisiest hotel we have ever stayed at.

From the beginning we could see that standards had slipped from the previous year. We were given a shabby room that didn't even have a window so asked to be moved immdiately - to what was only a marginally better room.
The food was not a patch on the previous year and was often luke warm with plenty of flies swarming around.
The safety aspects of the hotel was a huge concern for us.
The lifts were constantly breaking down, often with children in them.
The biggest concern however was the abundance of glass. A 10 year old member of our group mistakenly walked through a glass patio door thinkin that it was open. He ended up with stitches across his face, leg, tummy and in his hand. and had to stay in hospItal over night and travel to have a CAT scan.
He was very lucky not to have been more seriously injured and is now permanently scared.
The glass was unmarked and unlike other hotels there were no warning signs in place - such as big red cirles etc.
It could have happened to anyone but unfortunately happened to a young child.
The glass was not safety glass, it was thin glass that did a lot of damage.
What also didnt help was that the staff went around cleaning the glass all day.
Saying all this the staff were very helpful after it had happened and all reacted very quickly - although maybe a little too quickly like it had happened before???
Management didnt bother to see if he was ok and simply sent a bunch of flowers -not much good to a 10 year old!
Overall the hotel is good value for money. but it does need bringing into line with safety standards.

We were moved to this hotel from a much worse one after much complaining and it seemed like paradise to us.
The food is cool and we did suffer from bad intestinal disturbance as a result - its best to get when the mealtime first starts.
The view is brilliant from the side rooms and all was quiet for us. You could ignore the pool noise if you went down to the pretty little beach which contained only a couple of other families other than ourselves.
So, out of season is the best bet here.
Fantastic value for money.

As we drove through Altinkum my heart sank. As with many Greek/Turkish resorts there seems to be dodgy back ends but as I saw the road signs for the hotel I realised this resort was a basic building site!! no shops or hotels we open and there were horrible Turkish men learing at myself. Thankfully I was with my partner and his brother so felt safer.
As we pulled up to the hotel I thought it was quite out of the town - which was probably a blessing but there was still building work going on all around us. The sea view was average.
We got into the hotel lobby and it wasn't too bad - definately not 5 star but average - again standards are very different from Cyprus or England....However, as the porter come to take us to our rooms we saw the shabbiness of the whole area. The lifts we dangerous and smelly - the windows obviously hadn't been cleaned in the last 20yrs!
The walk to our rooms was dark and riffy. As he opened the dorr I was tempted to tell him to get me a flight back to England! No way a 5 star - I'm surprised there was running hot water! UUrrgghh, small dark bathroom - clean but old and tired. Room again was clean but so basic I thought I was stopping in a hostel. And the noise throughout the week was ridiculous! The maids quarters were opposite out room so we were rudely awakened around 6.30am every day - until dinnertime - then again on the afternoon shifts. No chance of afternoon naps!
And the food was cold, bland and repetitive. All we ate was eggs at breakfast (after 30mins wait for them!) Pancakes - waiting again and bread! Having a gluten intolerance this was terrible. But you've gotta eat and there wasn't even any restuarants open to escape too.
We complained about a room but was told there was no other to move to - how this hotel could have been fully booked would have amazed me!
The staff were marginally pleasant but spoken very little English. The entertainment was dire, the facilities were old and shabby and overall this was the worst holiday I have been on. I dread to think how much some people had paid to stay here. the private beach, as others have said was tiny and not very clean too.
I would really like to try Turkey again as I'm convinced this is not it! When we left to go home we had a 12 hour delay (it really couldn't have got worse so I just laughed!!) As our rep was none existent (he pushed a pigeon-english note under our door one day saying he'd tried all week to contact us and we hadn't replied - he obviously didn't try very hard or help at all!) We snuck on another tour operator's couach who took us to a 4 star hotel during the flight delay for a nights sleep and some food not far from Bodrum. I wish I'd stopped at this hotel the whole time - it was a Corinth Hotel. Very modern, friendly and fab food!! The delay was the best part of the holiday. We had breakfast and lunch and the best sleep of the week here.
Anyone reading this please avoid the didm beach at all costs - I beg you!!
