A bit like Spain was 20 years ago, "BUT" the locals in the busy areas are a pain "hello my friend" "look at the insides of my shop" they are so pushy you end up looking at the floor and being deaf, they spoil it for themselves and get less sales.shopping is a hassle
Toilet situation is terrible as you have to put your used paper in a rubbish bin, nothing special and no disinfectant or odor system, by the end of the day the room stinks and the flies abound

The so called private beach was 20 yards of gravel with dirty cushions on the very busy sunbathing area.

Nearest resort was Bodrum which is a reasonably large resort, lots of bars and restaurants. Small areas of shingle beaches, nice marina.
There is a castle and lots of shops but the prices are a rip-off. They want to charge anything from £60 to £100 for a copy handbag and won't move much on price. Food and drink costs about what we would pay at home. I know the pound isn't strong at the moment but they are getting really greedy now on price and we won't be visiting Turkey again because of this. We've visited 5 times.

Bodrum's Icmeler is really where they build the wooden gulet boats - you'll only find a couple of hotels there but its nice as its far from the busy town but close enough to go by bus (15mins)- on the bus journey you go past the boatyards and the scenery is stunning - the location also means theres plenty of room for watersports and scuba diving.

Our hotel was on bar street which i would imagine be very busy during peak season. I dont go for busy resorts i think Gumbet is more for young party animals saying that there were a few old party animals. Its true the bars & restaruants & shops torture you but sometimes just saying no thanks did not suffice as we exprienced it got to the stage we tried out most of the bars for 1 drink just to get peace the next time & it worked. One night we tried a restaurant that done chinese & indian it was okay we had starter of sring rolls 2 main of chicken dishes with rice & 1 soft drink each it came to £25.
Shopping experience: in gumbet we found a great wee shop the ones that have glass doors they reduced all their stock as it was end of season and the girl told us we could have the clothes we were looking at for half the price again so we ended up buying about 7 ed hardy & d&g thirts for about £15and they were better quality than the shops which open out to the street. Some of the younger shop guys were very rude telling you there goods were F*****g good price & one guy tried to sell me a babys tshirt for £7! I think my next visit to Turkey will be in quieter resort for young families.

Thank God for the bars and restaurants in Bodrum, without them our holiday would have been garbage. The locals in the bars made our stay in Bodrum pleasant. We ended up having the majority of our meals out, otherwise we would have starved. This made the holiday a bit more expensive as we ended up paying twice, just to enable us to have some decent food!!

We only went into Bodrum once, wasnt impressed at all, dirty, very noisy with all the buses and coaches in and out, the beach was a joke very small pebbly and very crowded.
