Ah, I love Gumbet! I've been there two times so far and hopefully will go many, many more times!
The locals are extremely friendly (as with all resorts in Turkey!) and the restaurants and bars on Bar Street provide fantastic nights out.
Shakers is my favourite bar and a great place to go to a little bit later on, around 1am as it is open 'til 5am. Great drinks at reasonable-ish prices, fab music and the nicest staff ever!! Love all the guys that work there!

Gumbet has a narrow shingle beach which we were a bit disappointed in but as our children only like going in the pool was not so bad. Bar Street has everything from shops, bars and restaurants (and lots of cheap clothes including leather). We ate most nights at the Mistral were our youngest child always ate free and you got a free botle of wine. The food there was very nice. The weather was very very hot! You could not meet more friendlier people in Turkey. I would definetely go back to Gumbet!

Gumbet is a lovely resort, the beach is lovely my family and i went down to Zetas bar on the beach the bar staff there where very nice, we had our lunch there at a very reasonable price also you can lie on the sunbeds and the waiters bring your drinks to you . My family and i went to Marmaris in May 2005 that was the first time we had ever been to any part of Turkey,we had a good week there but when me and my husband seen gumbet in july 2005 it was something else the best ever.

We enjoyed our holiday in Gumbet, there was plenty of bars and resturants, very good night life. The choice for eating out is excellent. The only thing we were disappointed with was the beach in peak season it gets very over crowded as it is a long beach but not very wide. we would visit this resort again.

Turkey isnt for everyone if you dont like being bothered for example but I love bartering and having a laugh with the locals. The food in Gumbet was great would really recomend Cafe Columbia and Windy Bay. We tended to stay that end of the resort. Go for a turkish bath its great but shop around for a good deal. Went to see the Dream Girls show um it was ok but seen better to be honest. We were advised not to bother with the boat trips a bit club 18-30 but if that appeals again barter for a good price. Dont bank on seeing football games advertised we went to see Rangers at a poolside hotel and there was nearly a riot when the setanta kept crashing lol. The owner had my Stephen on the roof looking at his satelite... at least thats what he said he was doing lol.
We enjoyed the kakoke pubs and the wee scottish one stinky something or other very friendly and good value.
Dont let your boys or men get a hair cut before they go coz they will get a great shave and haircut for a few pounds in the many babers open all night.
Loved Gumbet would return tomorrow enjoy your holiday.

Gumbet is packed with restaurants and bars.. Smileys and corner bar are good fun and a visit to the X bar afterwards is a must for the party animals. Down by the beach is quieter on a night and a nice stroll.
By day the beach is busy especially during july/august and the water sports are plenty and good value. Beach is not too wide and gently gradually deepens so is ok for young children with an adult.
A boat trip is a must as you visit some lovely coves and see stunning views of the coastline.

Gumbet was brill quiet if thats what you wanted but also livley if thats is also what you want something for everyone. The resturants were fantastic the food prepared and served with care and attention to detail. I would recommend this resort to anyone also close enough to Bodrum to do shopping although I wouldn't stay in Bodrum too busy for us.

The resort is first class for the younger disco crowd, roads and pavements are not great for wheelchairs ect, or even just for walking.
However, the entertainment is very good as is the beach, with lots to do.
