They must have changed!

They were on the gastro virus alert from the start and for nearly the whole of the 18 days cruise from Perth Western Australia To Sydney NSW via New Zealand. This meant that the crew would serve refreshment and food so no one could help them self which means endless queuing.

The cruise was a tragedy, cold wet with very occasional sun, coupled with the very poor quality of food and preparation.

The staff where great the ship was great but in the wrong area should stay in the tropics not really much chop in the southern seas where it's cool. They served UHT milk for almost two weeks, image tea, coffee and cereal upsets the system no end!

we arrived in venice and the check in was chaotic.
we had booked a suite and it was really nice,no complaints there.
however the trips are a complete rip off and as the ship had docked quite a way from the port gates every day a shuttle bus was laid on
by r.c. at a cost of 15 dollars return and this quite literally dropped you at the entrance to the port.what a rip off other companies would have got the tenders out because whats the point of advertising that you are going to a certain destination and then being a long way away.
The whole theme on this ship is additional charges, and also exhorbitant prices for drinks.
The food is average and often cold.
the entertainment was dreadful the worst we have seen on a cruise ship, and to cap it all off everyone who is travelling home by air, regardless of what time your flight is,is dropped off at the airport at 9 in the morning and in our case because the airport could not cope with the mass of travellers we were sat outside in the hot sun for hours on end.All this for the cost of £3000 for one week.
would we travel again with royal caribbean.most definately not

REGARDING THE SHUTTLE BUSES.
These were offered because the ship docked so far away from the entrance to the dock that it was a massive walk.

I want to alert all portential clients of Regent to NOT book any pre/post hotel arrangements with them - you will be grossly OVERCHARGED. I joined my parents on Voyager, and their travel agent said she could get a good deal on the hotel in Beijing I was to meet my parents as I was going 3 days ahead. I am very used to making my own travel arrangement(how hard is it to go on internet..). I wrongly assumed Regent would have a better rate as they book so many rooms in the hotel. How wrong I was. I prepaid $1550 for 4 nights, breakfast, transfer from airport to hotel, and then from Beijing to ship. When checking out I was erroneously given a bill for my stay. I said 'oh no I've prepaid, it's just my extras'. They said sorry, and gave me the extras bill. But then I looked at what they would have charged me at rack rate - 5500cyn which is $900!!!! This included breakfast. Ok, then add on a taxi(current rate about $25), add on a CAR AND DRIVER, not the coach I took with parents(current rate $100max). Hmmm, looks like Regent pocketed a 50% extra or $500. DO NOT make my mistake. Oh, and for customer service-it doesn't exist, they had nothing constructive to say. Braindead

This ship is beautiful.........wow factor!

We arrived in Barcelona (on time) and our cases were taken from us at arrivals and we didn't see them again unitil we entered our cabin, we did the transfer with royal caribbean itself. Transfer to ship was excellent. Booking in at the terminal was fantastic. Counters indicating your particular deck or suite enabled a very quick booking in service. You cannot enter your cabin before 1pm.

Cabin: We had a junior suite (deck 10 cabin 1694 aft) was very quiet and huge! Only problem with balcony is the over hang of the deck above. We hardly got any sun whilst on the balcony. The suite has everything u'd want, bed is huge! Mini bar is very expensive. Bottled water $3.95. Small red ball $3.95 (all have 15% added). In the terminal is a shop that sells bottled water at 1euro, buy before going on board! Hair dryer is ok but I used my own and GHD's. There is a 240v plug, this is situated by the kettle, took me awhile to find it, other sockets are only 120v.

Our attendant Dale was wonderful, his towel animals suprised us every evening. We couldn't wait to go back to find out his next creation! Other staff onboard were always smiling, friendly and helpful, asking you how you enjoyed your day and wishing you a pleasant day or evening.

Reception staff were excellent, I had been given an onboard spend which wasn't showing up on the tv review account. They sorted it out straight away after contacting their head office. I had taken a print off of my initial booking which showed the onboard spend, this helped quicken up the problem, so I would advise to take any docuements with you to prove what your entitled to.

We didn't get bothered with photographers, when asked and we refused everytime, they accepted it without any bother. Bar staff didn't keep on asking either. If they saw your glass empty they would ask you, but if you said no they left you alone. Drinks onboard are expensive, Jack Daniels $5.50 ($6.77 inc 15%). Small bottle beer $4.75 ($5.84 inc 15%). Can of coke $1.95 ($2.40 inc 15%). I promise you it soon adds up over a week!!!

Ship Food: We mainly ate in the Windjammer as we prefered to eat what we wanted and when we wanted. Food was plentiful. Sometimes not as hot as we would have wished, but this place is open from 6.30pm-9.30pm. Our only whinge is the potato option, it was mainly mash every day!! so many meats and veg to choose from but only one selection of potatoes! There is a curry section every night. On our cruise we were told the were 34 different nationalities on board, so it's hard to cater for everyone, so our whinge is a small one.

We only ate in the main dining room once, portions were so small that my husband didn't want to go back lol! And the potato served with main meal was mash lol! What was funny, we saw diners who had been in main dinning room eating in the windjammer later having extra meals to cater for the small portions served in Magic Flute!

Johnny Rockets was fantastic, try it, I know you pay an extra $4.95 each, but it was a wonderful treat!

Formal Nights: On our 7 night cruise there were 2 formal nights. Not everyone dressed up, you DON'T have too. We didn't and we didn't look out of place at all. I'd say half the cruisers didn't bother. We travel with semi formal clothing which looks just as good, so don't feel you have to wear the gown or tux!! With a small luggage allowance on the planes it's a headache what to take. It's your holiday, wear what you like! Casual nights, many wore jeans, and there are 3 of those, and 2 semi formal nights.

Entertainment: Excellent! Ice show was fantastic, theatre shows were also excellent, the theatre is huge, 3 tiers! Our favourite place in the evening was Scooners Bar, Chris Martin sang and played piano from 9.15-1.15am, he was brilliant. He encourages you to join in with songs from all decades. We met many new friends in this bar, including the 3 waiters who were fab at their job. They got to know what you drank, and asked as soon as you arrived if you wanted your favourite tipple! There are so many places to sit and enjoy your evenings, too many to mention here!

For smokers: there are several bars where you are allowed to smoke, no having to go outside on this ship.........thank you royal caribbean. Smoking is also allowed on balcony cabins only.

Excursions: We only used the ship for one, Rome (£160 for 3 adults!) and this was Rome on your own, they just take you and drop you off at the Vatican. We didn't attempt to try this one on our own as it's such along way from the port and we didn't want the ship to sail without us! All the other ports we did our own thing. Train from naples to pompeii, taxi to train station 12 euros, train to pompeii 3 euros each return!Pisa, taxi to train station 12 euros and again 3 euros each return on train, plus 1 euro each from train station to pisa itself. It was easy, try it! Monico, 4 euros return train trip each, with trains every 30 minutes. Toulon, we went to the beach by bus, 8.80 euros return for 3 people, it was so easy, the bus is right by where the boat docks.

This was our 1st time with Royal Caribbean and we loved every minute of our cruise. The only major complaint was the early departure from the ship at the end of the cruise. Our flight back to Heathrow was at 4.35pm, we had to leave the ship at 8.15am!!! The last people off were timed for 9am, unless you paid $35 (plus 15%) each to stay on til midday. We were at the airport for 6 hours!! Barcelona airport is wonderful, but it's along time to be there.

For smokers: Barcelona airport has 2 large outdoor areas after you go through security, wish british airports had the same!!

Would we sail on this ship again....... OH YES!!!!!

Voyager of the Sea is one fantastic ship,it had been partly refurbished prior to our sailing all wood floors
carpets ect were new as was the carpets in our stateroom,
the shower unit was good with power shower and sliding doors they only supplied soap and shampoo, where on other cruise lines you get a lot more.our stateroom attendant
Eroll from costa rica looked after us well,he cleared the
mini fridge so that we could use it for our own water and
soda cans that we took on board, and kept our ice bucket full we always had a towel animal every night on our bed or hanging from the ceiling with our sun glasses on.We only ate twice in the dining room as we were on 1st sitting after requesting 2nd and found it to be far to early and a rush after being out all day,the food in The Island grill was fantastic so we went for the remaining 5 nights and sat on a table over looking the sea.Our 12 year old grandson had a fab time after making lots of new friends in the teen club.We did most of the port days DIY and found it easy after reading and taking lots of tips from the H T cruise forum. We spent 3 days pre cruise in Barcelona a good start to a super holiday, would love to cruise on The Voyager again
maybe some where new.The ice show was fantastic also enjoyed the Broadway show and the Beatles night.
The reason we were refused 2nd sitting was that over half of the passengers were Spanish and they insist on late dining this would be our only complaint.

This was our first cruise and we were a little unsure of what to expect. we needn't have worried. This ship was all we could have asked for and more. Our balcony cabin on Deck6 was spotless with plenty of space and possibly the ost comfortabe bed we have ever shared. We liked that the shower, although small, had sliding doors not a curtain .Bit disappointed that there were no toiletries in the bath room only shower gel dispensers in the shower but not a big deal. We had breakfast in the Winjammer every morning which we thpught was very good. There was a terrific choice although more geared to American tastes rather than the "full English"Good choice of teas and coffees also had no trouble getting soya milk as I a lactose intolerant. We had dinner in th MDR very night except on the Rome porte of call as we had a delayed departure and we were so tired anyway we just flaked out after a light supper. The food in the MDR was ok some dishes better than others and the desserts were FAB.Our waitress Andrea was very good and nothing was too much trouble. We shared a table of eight with a couple from Pheonix and two British couples who were all such good company. We had worried that cruising might be a bit like an old peoples home when in fact at 53 and 60 WE were the oldies on our table.
We loved the shows in the theatre,I am a big musical theatre fan so i really enjoyed them. My husband enjoyed the magician and we both thought the ice show was fantastic.
We were also pleased to see that the vast majority of people onboard made the effort to dress for the formal nights ,the atmosphere was wonderful especially sailing away from Villefranche with he beautiful sunset and everyone dressed to the nines taking a stroll on deck ,fantastic.
The only minus point for us was the cost of the excursions, we would recommend researching online beforehand and possibly doing it yourself. Monaco and Monte Carlo in particular are very easy and cheap to do alone. We did a tour of Rome that was so hectic and the weather so hot that we were exhausted.
Would we travel on Voyager again? you bet! we loved every minute of it.

We Sailed on Royal Caribbean’s The Voyager of the Seas from Southampton on an 11 day Med cruise on board The Voyager of the Seas that departed from Southampton on the 13/05/2009. THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE HOLIDAY. This ship was a FLOATING BUILDING SITE. All looked fine the day we boarded the ship, I guess it had to be this way as the majority would not have got on, work did not start until the following day at sea. This was an 11 day cruise, the work was full on for 9 days, it stopped for two days for reasons I can not mention. They begin the work again the morning we were leaving this ship; I am talking in numbers of around 30 men working, not 3 or 4. About 8 German dock yard workers included (the ship had been in a dry dock in Germany for 2 weeks prior to this cruise)

Royal Caribbean never informed about these major works nor did they intend to. If the passengers had knowledge of what was going on here no one would not have boarded this ship. This was a blatant con from start to finish, Absolutely unbelievable; all complaints were met with lies and more lies, the worst of which came from the captain’s mouth.

Throughout the cruise huge areas of the upper deck were cordoned off due to new floors being layed with hazardous liquid materials, the workers all had full body suits and full face masks on when these liquids were being poured over whole deck areas to lay new flooring to the walkways, all of the upper deck sun bathing areas needed doing, each day a large area was sectioned off and worked on, this chemical gave off a bad smell and many people suffered from continuous headaches, they were laying this stuff down only yards from passengers who were sun bathing, the wooden type floors round the pool areas were being stripped via an industrial sander, they were then re-grooved before being treated with some type of black Tar. The Tar got on clothing and footwear, worst still it was not coming off. Finally industrial buffers were used to finish off. Dust was everywhere, on clothing, seating and even inside the ship, this affected asthmatic passengers more than most, I myself am asthmatic and my breathing was affected for the whole of the cruise.

On sailing no swimming pools or Jacuzzis were open for the first 3 days, due to them being scrapped and re-painted. 6 days before both pools and all Jacuzzis were available for use. Large 5 gallon drums of Hazardous materials, huge rolls of carpets and construction tools were stored in the children's pools and play area, cordoned off with cheap tape , the children suffered as these areas were out of bounds until the last two days. Passengers turned out of rooms to lay new carpets, overpowering smells throughout the ship. Passengers told not to use balconies as they decided to paint them in the middle of the cruise. No daytime entertainment for first 9 days due to the above works. The captain told me it was because it was too cold. 30 degrees!

Passengers told to stop complaining and threatened with security. After a week the passengers arranged a meeting for the passengers, The meeting went ahead and in the space of one hour some 1000 passengers left contact details and signed a complaints letter, all those who signed will get a copy.

We Complained early in the cruise, we did not want to stay on this ship and requested to leave at the 1st port of call, we demanded a full refund and requested to fly home at ROYAL CARIBBEANS expense. We were told we had no chance. The best she could offer was a bottle of wine, I am not joking here. We then requested a meeting with the Guest Service Manager. We requested this 3 times, 3 times we were told they would get back to us and they did on the 3rd time only because I refused to move until I talked with this man. He admitted the company was liable in certain areas of their contract to us, he fobbed us off and told us there was nothing he could do, neither he nor no one else can make these decisions. We were told to contact head office in London on our return, saying that he did up the anti and went one better and offered us $40.00 on board credit but that was only a maybe, again I'm serious. This is the way these robots have been trained by RCCL, its one step in a long line of ROBBING its customers.

I really can not believe that RCC had the front to allow this ten day cruise to go ahead knowing what they knew, its unbelievable and unacceptable in fact its CRIMINAL, they got us all on board then sailed knowing fine well we had no choice to cancel. We could walk away from a hotel but not this SCAM AND THEY KNEW IT. FACT IS ROYAL CARIBBEAN HAVE NO INTENTION OF REFUNDING ANY ONE, WHATS CRIMINAL IS THEY SEEM TO GET AWAY WITH IT

We saved Hard and long and paid £2200.00 for this so called Luxury Cruise

WE HAVE BEEN CONNED AND WE ARE GUTTED. ROYAL CARIBBEAN SET UP AND ROBBED OVER 3000 PASSENGERS HERE. ITS 100% FACT AND IT’S NOT THE 1ST TIME THEY HAVE DONE THIS. GOOGLE THEM AND SEE FOR YOUR SELVES.

NEVER EVER BOOK A CRUISE WITH ROYAL CARIBBEAN - THIS MAY HAPPEN TO YOU - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
