We sailed on the Mediterranean Renaissance cruise in June calling in Italy, France, Sardinia, Spain and starting and finishing in Majorca.
The ship was generally clean in both public areas and the cabins although it was sometimes difficult to find a toilet in the public areas that was not out of order.
The entertainment staff were very professional and although not to everyone's taste did provide a variety of things to do and shows in the evening.
It was difficult to get a seat with a view of the stage for some of the shows unless you got there very early!
The food was generally good and varied and the portions were small - which is what you want on a cruise!
The excursions were good although rather on the pricy side. If you want to visit Rome or Florence do the 'on your own option' and buy a decent guide book in the UK - its much cheaper and you get to spend time at the sights you want for as long as you want. Villfranche is a lovely place and unless you really want to see Monte Carlo we'd recommend visiting the port itself. The highlight for us was Figueres and the Dali museum - the accompanying guide was brilliant!
Unfortunately we like others suffered from clanking noises from inside the hull of the ship in our cabin which was on deck 3 (cabin 515) - the noise did prevent us sleeping well and despite several complaints to reception we only got a letter of apology after insistence to take it higher and referred to complain to Thomson in the UK. Here the staff were useless - it took 3 days for our complaint to be logged and we encountered 2 other couples who were experiencing the same problems.
The reception staff admitted there was a noise and vibration problem with the ship whilst in motion and that it would not get fixed for some time. Unfortunately the ship was fully occupied and they could not move us.
A PIECE OF ADVICE - pre-book your cabin - especially if you are staying decks 1 to 4 - BOOK A CABIN WITH AN EVEN NUMBER as this side of the ship seems less affected.
We paid a substancial suppliment to upgrade and are currently trying to get compensation from Thomson for the disrruption the noise caused to our holiday.
We have also suggested they put something on their website to warn future passengers about the noise in odd number cabins but nothing has appeared yet!

Firstly as reported earlier, ship was late in arriving due to a refit, we arrived at Palma at 7pm, boarded ship around 2.30am, what happened to those that arrived in the morning?. Refit of what?
All public area toilets were blocked for most of the trip as well as many of the cabins leaking into the passageways, the industrial blowers were working full time all week trying to dry the carpets out, the smell of toilet waste was awful, the casino was almost out of bounds for two days, basically the whole ship stank of urine and worse.
Why we sailed into a force 10 gale for 12 hours no one knows, why didn't we stay in port, was it the cost of the port fees?
Food very good, ignore the self service cattle market and go for the waiter service restaurant, much better.
Most staff very friendly and helpful with the exception of the Reception Desk who didn't care at all and were very short with all passengers.
Holiday rep appeared more helpful, but would basically tell you anything to get rid of you. They failed to book us in for two trips and assured us that they told us when things were cancelled, rubbish!
Entertainment, typical 2/3 star Thomson fare, staff thrown into dancing and singing west end musicals, they tried their best.
Tips - if you have already booked, ignore Captains Night, 2 glasses of fizzy pink wine in an hour and a half whilst half the ships crew are dragged up on stage, not our idea of fun.
On a final note, ensure that you have an early morning flight home as you have to lock your suitcases by 1.30am the night/morning before you fly home, if you are on an evening flight your cases are dumped on the quayside all day and you are not supposed to open them any more, which means no change of clothes or access to toiletries as you are told to vacate your cabin by 8am.
I cannot recommend any Thomson cruise ship and probably will never do another cruise, which is a shame.

I have just returned from a 7 day cruise on the Thomson Celebration 25th May/1st June this was my 5th cruise and I am totally disappointed with the standard of holiday.Ship arrived late ,lack of staff, pungent smell always present, captain choose to sail into force 10 storm with the majority of passengers terrified, ship was hurriedly released from refit post red sea cruise programme and was not ready for passengers----thomsons only interested in making money and not concerned with customer relations. I can honestly say that this is by far the worst experience I have ever had on a cruise ship so much so that I doubt that I will ever cruise with Thomson Cruises again and would advise any one thinking of booking a cruirse on the celebration to try elsewhere..

Went on the Jewels of the Med cruise from 25 May to 1 June. Was very disappointed with the state of the ship, old and plumbing out of order for the most of the time. Food was ok, staff apart from reception very good. Never eat in the self service restaurant, difficult to find a seat. Ignore Captains night, a waste of time. Entertainment very Butlins.
None of us will go on a cruise again this has ruined it for the future.
If you haven't booked already - don't.

This was our first Cruise so i had no idea what to excpect, the ship was very clean, our cabin was fantastic, the staff were very plesant and helpfull all the time, the food was very good in all restaurants, the night entertainment from the 2 shows that we attended one was very good the 1970s extraviganza, thw 2nd was a local dance group, when the lady dancer (a big Girl) started her dance i was very glad that our children were not with us,a few of the older couples left, quick followed by us, not our cup of tea.The trips that we went on were very well organized and we were very well looked after, what i will say about the coaches is that Thomson need to get the toilet facilites sorted on the coaches, i saw old ladys & men struggling no light in the toilet and very dirty.Yes we would go back.

We sailed on the celebration in march on the Red Sea cruise and we enjoyed it very much.We boarded at Safaga and were very impressed with Hurghada Airport. The transfer to the ship was very quick and easy and we embarked very quickly. We can not find any fault with any part of the cruise and will definitely book again. The trip to Cairo was amazing and even though it was a long day it went very quickly. We ate in the Lido Buffet most of the time and the standard of food was excellent as was the choice. The staff were very friendly in an unobtrusive way and the passengers we met were very friendly. We found the ship to be far superior to the Destiny, much larger cabins and the restaurants much nicer.

We took this short break on the Red Sea Magic at the last minute, we can only say that we had a fantastic holiday. The ship was kept very clean, as were our cabins, which were quite spacious with plenty of wardrobe space. We were on deck 2,but late booking made it impossible to up-grade but would have prefered to be 1 or 2 decks higher.
Food was as good or better than any 5* hotel we have stayed in, with a choice of restaurants, The Meridian being our 1st choice, but the Lido still just as high quality food but a little more of a canteen atmosphere.
The trips are a little expensive but really on reflection they are value for money, but are quite tiring, we did the Classic Egypt and The Dead Sea both excellent days out with early starts (about 7.30am) and returning about 7.30 to 8pm and lunch in a 5* hotel on both trips.
If you are looking at this as a holiday then I would certainly book it, it is great value for money.

This was our first cruise and we were very sceptical about cruising and also holidaying at the end of March which is a bit early for us.
We need not have worried. This was an excellant holiday from start to finish
We boarded the Celebration at Safaga on Tuesday evening after a long days journey from Manchester and after checking in, made our way to Hemingways bar then eventually to the Lido for a meal.
Next morning we had to be on the dock at ten past six for the excursion to the Valley of the Kings at Luxor. The cost was £70 per head but was well worth it for a long awaited lifetime experience. This also applied to the Cairo/Pyramids/Nile riverboat trip which was £68 per head the following Monday.
These were the the only excursions we went on, preffering to explore the local areas on our own.
In fact we spent a very pleasant few hours on a lovely beach with all ameneties just ten minutes walk from the dock at Sharm el Sheikh.
The captain said that he was immensely proud of all of his crew. and so he should be.
The ship was absolutley spotless.
The quality and amount of choice of food in all the restaurants was superb.
We did not see a great deal of the onboard entertainment but it was obvious that there was something to suit all tastes for most of the time.
We saw musical show in the Broadway lounge called Africa which was excellant. The enthusiasm and energy of the young cast and their brilliant costumes was breathtaking.

All in all, this was a super holiday and Thomsons' are to be congratulted on a first class cruise at a bargain price. I think most of the other people on the Celebration would agree that Thomson go out of their way to make you feel special.
We are already thinking about the next one which may even be Red Sea Magic again, as a week is not long enough to take advantage of all the activities and amenities available.

One small moan. The air conditioning on some areas of the ship is too efficient. Our cabin in particular was too cold.

Travelled on the March 29th cruise from Sharm El Sheikh. This was my first cruise, and a memorable one.

We did all the shore excursions we could and found them fairly priced (Petra, Wadi Rum, Cairo, Valley of the Kings, and Seascope/Hurghada).

The entertainment was excellent, and always something to do in the evenings. My only beef was that if you listened to the band all week long, they played the same songs quite a lot.

The food was incredible both in the Meridian restaurant and the Lido buffet. Didn't try the Mistrals Restaurant which was an additional £15 cover charge.

Rooms were always well made up and clean, and the staff was always friendly. Would definitely go on this cruise ship again.

I did get ill on the last day of the cruise, but I think this was from trying to do too much all at once (after all, the only full day I had on the ship was the day we were at sea), combined with more sun than I was used to. Still, it won't deter me from going on another cruise!

I joined this ship for the Red Sea Magic cruise and can honestly say that it was a delight.
The trips are expensive but, every one is a must.
Most miss out on the Wadi Rum tour which is a great mistake, this is an amazing place.(Lawrence of Arabia et al.}
Cruising is a lazy way to travel and time spent at the Pyramids was very disappointing as the tour took you to a papyrus shop at which we spent longer than at the pyramids themselves. This said, the hotels that you stop at for lunch are palatial.
If you really want to see Egypt I advise a Nile Cruise as all of the great sights are on the Nile whereas the bus trips from the ship are a very long bus journey.
The crew top to bottom on the Celebration are fantastic and I was at times embarrased by the sheer attentiveness of the personnel.
In short if you want to see as much of Egypt and Jordan in a limited time this is brilliant, treat yourselves!
I don't regret a second of this trip and send a big thanks to the delightful crew of the Celebration from cabin boy/girl to the driver! (only kidding cap)
