Thomson Celebration - Magic of Iceland

Our first family cruise with thomsons and the celebration
and will definately not be our last.

Would like to thank all the crew and staff for making it a very memorable experience.

The food quality and service was excellent

Entertainment throughout the day was good the main shows on the evening were excellent.

All the crew really went out of their way to make you feel welcome and were all helpful from the cabin staff but especially from the staff in the lido and meridian restaurants.

Just returned from the 'Magic of Iceland'cruise aboard Celebration.Great ship, fantastic crew.
This was our 15th cruise so we like to think we know what we are talking about.Have read some negative comments on this board and in some cases wonder if the authors wandered onto the wrong ship.Food first class and plentiful, crew hard working yet always smiling.Entertainment was of a very high standard, particularly impressed by the can can performed during the Moulin Rouge show. What people should remember is this is not a Cunard ship but then these are not Cunard prices.

Magical Fjords 7 days from Newcastle Port on Tyne

After reading the reviews left by some other passengers we were begining to wonder if we had made a mistake.
Once onboard we were delighted with the cabin and location within the ship. The cabin steward was very helpfull and forever smiling.
The food on board was second to none with the option to eat in whatever style you want, self service or waiter serivce or for an extra charge go to the Aldo Zilli Resturant.(highly recomended)
The entertainment team was also first class, but please remember they are working on a cruise ship 24/7 and deserve all the praise 110%.I take my hat off to them.
The ports of call on the cruise were as good as it gets. We were lucky in the fact that the weather was very hot 26-30 degrees everyday. The snow was melting very fast giving many massive waterfalls and mountains where ever we went went, a photographic paradise.
Except for 2 very minor problems which had nothing to do with Thompson (Newcastle port and a guide on a tour) we had a ball and would go with the cruise ship Celebration again. As for the comment about council house whatever, what was you expecting?? you only get what you pay for. The money I paid is in my view, was a holiday that I will remember and look back on with a smile.

ship cleanliness
deck 1 2 and 3 cabins a old, dated, stuffy, below standard.the cabin seat was stained, badly worn and broken.it is obviouse gigarettes were smoked in the cabins in the past as they are nicotine stained

the furniture is dated formica decor is dull.sky tv is a joke, only 2 channels.shower and toilet are old, soap dishes enamal has worn away, plastic toilet seats.toilet sometimes takes 4 minutes to flush
complaints about the room were left for 3 days before being sorted.top bed cover was badly stained.

crew members were smoking, shouting, using mobile phones outside our cabin
carpets around the ship are well worn, patched in places, thread worn, stained.
crew do not use the santation wash when entering the dining area.the wash is not monitered to ensure this is being done
toilets are ok but not enough on the ship.
in the dining area you have to go out and up a flight of stairs to find a toilet
disabled facilities are minimal, only seen one disabled toilet
two lifts were smelling of diesel fumes
lots of OUT OF ORDER signs
around the ship

ship food very good

ship staff very good

on board entertainment was excellent 100%

would i sail on this ship again,NO.
we did have another cruise booked on the destiny next year.we have now cancelled losing £300 deposit believe me,it is worth the loss

final word,if you like the (hi de hi) butlins type 70s holiday with old chalets and caravans then this is for you.if not then find a better cruise line and give this one a wide birth,so to speak

Just back from a cruise of Norway on the Celebration.
What can I say about it.....simply wonderful.
Cabin clean and spacious, food delicious and well presented (afternoon tea was one of the highlights!), we tended to eat in the Meridian restaurant in the evening which was absolutly brilliant in every way, the entertainment was top notch, but most of all the staff on board the ship were the most delightful, helpful friendy people I have ever come across.
Would we cruise on this ship again.....most definatly!!! just collected next year's brochure from the travel agent.

Fantastic.....
Our first cruise and wont be the last.
The ship was immaculate and it didnt matter what time of day it was or where you were there always seemed to be a member of staff enthusiastically cleaning with a huge grin on their face. There seemed to be staff everwhere and they couldnt enough for you.

the food was excellent and yes i did go back for seconds in the lido and no i dont live in a council house.

The entertainment was a huge suprise. i was expecting village hall amature dramatics but got highly polished hugely entertaining shows.

Norway was awsome. did 3 excursions the only one i woudnt do again was scenic Bergen , fell asleep during that one.

Cruised up the fjords which was everything I wished for and more strongly recommend this cruise for scenery alone.Cleanliness of ship was really good. The food was really nice recommend Aldo Zilli restaurant its only £15 per head for a really nice meal.Staff were second to none all really nice people including crew members, who had to put up with nasty comments from some of the passengers who thought they were something they were not.Probably like the people who call people that live in Council houses and they cannot even spell it its a C not an S.The onboard entertainment was ok if you like that sort of thing mainly for the older passengers but the entertainment staff really worked hard all the time.Would I sail on this ship again yes only to sail up the fjords as it is one of the best ways to see all the scenery. But I dont think cruises are my sort of thing as this was my first.Advise people to go on the Flam Railway trip as you get a nice 3 course hot or cold meal and see even more nice scenery.Again anyone thinking about cruises for the first time the fjords cruise is probably the best way to see this amazing country.

Norway Jewels Of The Fjords.Ship cleanliness very good.Ships food really nice in all restaurants Aldo Zillis well worth a visit at only £15 a head passengers should splash out as you are on holiday why not its cheap enough.Ships staff excellent all very nice people crew included.Entertainment staff worked really hard also working night and day. Some of the entertainment was not my cup of tea more for the older people on board who seemed to enjoy it.This is probably the best way to visit Norway and see the Fjords as the scenery is amazing.Yes I would visit the Fjords again on this ship as no complaints at all about service. But as I said earlier its the best way to see this part of Norway but cruising is not for me.
