I am due to stay at the Pegasos Palace for a week from 3rd July, there will be 7 of us in the party. I haven't been told yet about anything not being open. I would be interested to hear from anybody that has stayed at the hotel this season, the reports from last year are so varied, and I am hoping that some of the bad things commented on will have been improved for this year. We've booked one room with a kids den and one standard room, so particularly interested in any information about the kids den rooms.

I would also appreciate any tips on good day trips, my husband is keen to go on a gulet. Where is the best place to book and what kind of price should we expect to pay?

Finally we will be in Turkey for the last week of the World Cup, one semi final and the final, so some tips on the best place to watch football would also be welcome.

Thanks

Viv,

The gullet cruise bookable through FC at the palace was priced at £23 each last year (all inclusive) but was a great day out. It is probably cheaper through Serigerme Tours at the bottom of Serigerme town.

The world Cup maybe viewable at the Palace this year but qualifiers were not last year. We watched the qualifiers at the Dolphin Hotel, which has a great bar/restaurant. Again it's at the bottom of the town 50 yards up from the taxi rank on the right.

Well just spent hours trying to read up on this and boy do my eyes hurt now .... definately going to need this holiday even more so! Joking aside I wonder if anyone could help with a few things?

My family (2 adults and 2 kids 8 & 6) fly to Pegasos Palace on 18th May from Gatwick. I have read on here of lots of things happening regarding hotel closures and watersports etc. Just spent hours trying to get some sense from my local FC branch but I have given up!

Has anyone going at same time had any updates? I originally booked into Tropical and upgraded to a jacuzzi suite however i received a letter in Dec stating that the suite at Tropical had been deemed more suitable for 3 people and not 4 and therefore had been changed to the Palace. Am i now to believe this was more accuratly because they were closing the Tropical to July?
Reading the earlier comments am i correct in believing that people have arrived to a Double and not a King sized bed?
Finally I know i have gone on extensively (and its only my first post ever) but if anyone could let me know if they have had much experience of the medical facilities locally I would appreciate it. My youngest daughter has epilepsy and is well controlled but i am going from pillar to post trying to establish the situation with taking her medication to Turkey???
Thanks for reading and i would love any advice
Oh yes and I cant wait to go!!!

loogie, in answer to the medical side - yes. I spent a day on a drip in the well equipped medical centre. It is clean and could be likened to a small casualty dept in the uk. There are several consulting rooms and I found the doctors and nurses whilst expensive, to be excellent. My son also suffered from an ear infection and he too was dealt with excellently. The nurse noticed it was his birthday on one consultation and promptly handed him a little gift. Nice touch.

Hi Louise
Firstly i am in a jacuzzi suite and had a letter last week to say it is a double not a king size bed so my local fc shop are seeing if i can get any money back as i booked a king size.

Secondly with regards to your daughters medication.......my boys both have a severe medical condition which requires me to carry lots of medication, needles, syringes and a sharps bin for used needles i always carry 2 letters with me when i travel abroad that i get from the hospital 1 for customs that says what i am carrying and why and saying that if they take the medication from me they are endangering the boys lives (which would be the same for your daughter) i always tell the check in person i have needles etc and i need to carry them as hand luggage and they have never bothered once they dont realy seem interested to be honest.......i have never had a problem, i also always tell them before i put the bag through to be scanned. I think travelling to Turkey should be the same as anywhere else as long as you have it in writing it should be fine.
Also the second letter i take is a letter or introduction from there consultants to the turkish dr's explaining what the condition is and what treatment there require if they go into hospital....like you though i manage on of the childrens injections myself but my other is just a baby with tiny veins so i emailed first choice to see what facilities were available at the medical centre if i neeed them and they got back to me saying it was 24hr medical centre with a dr available all the time.
Have you been abroad with her before?
It should just be the same for you as going anywhere else if you have.

Hope i've helped

Thank you Vicky and Barnio
Yes we have been abroad before but only to Spain. The biggest difference to be honest is that her current medication is classed as a controlled drug! I care for her myself as i am a paeds nurse (should i admit to this since i have given out my holiday dates already ...lol) but its just nice to know what you are going to.
I have tried FC all morning and its like banging against a brick wall. Hopefully more people will be returning now and we can get more updates on the actual rooms.
Anyway have a good time all and thanks for the advice so far

Hiya Louise

Feel a bit of a pratt now with that long reply now i know you are a nurse!!!!!
I am sure you will be ok as long as you have it in writing why you are carrying it and like i said they also put on my letter that it will be life threatening if they take my boys medication from me.
From my experience you wont get anywhere speaking to FC anyway i go away every year and they are never 100% sure what the deal is with carrying medication etc. I always worry about my needles etc getting into the wrong hands on the flight so i always try and keep my medical bag by my feet just incase!!!!
If i get anywhere with the king size bed thing i will let you know.....whats annoying me is that they are still advertising it as king size on the website.

Sorry Vicky!
Anyway the other thing I wanted to know which i forgot was what kind of charges do the activities charge i.e massage, parasailing etc?
Having only ever been away for a week before and also having never gotten involved with the excursions because the children were too young in our opinion, we are looking to really make the most of this holiday but want to make sure we take enough money away!

No problem Louise......i feel like im a nurse myself!!!!
I asked about parasailing the other week and was told there are guys on the beach doing it and its about £25 for a double one.
There is another topic called something like ask about sarigerme from a guy called Mustafa who is very helpful as i think he is a tour guide if you post there he may tell you more about trips and prices etc.

Had a telephone call from thompsons on Saturday, to say they had two letters for us from FC, The first was regarding fight changes, not to bad as they have changed from very late night/early morning to afternoon/ evening flight, although we will have to book an extra day off for kids and hard working other half.

The other letter was to inform us of the PT being closed, we had been moved from here months ago when we were given the "room ocupancy" lie, it also said somthing about a double bed, which we didn't understand at first. I asked my travel agent rep, if the tropical being closed ment that half the faciltys I had paid for would be closed including the excelent looking large pool and slides she said she would contant FC and get back to us with our options. When she got back to us she said she had been told the PT and its faciltys would be closed although all the pools would be open!! I don't know how they are goin to do this but I do hope it is true, Anyway not long now will soon find out for our selfs, know will have a great time what ever :D

loogieboogie10-Cant comment on the medical facilities at the PP but my son also has epilepsy and needs a variety of medication,we have been to Turkey twice in the last few years and have not had any problems taking his medication into the country, we always take a fit to fly letter from the hospital stating what his medical condition is and what medication he requires but have never needed to show it whilst on holiday except at the airport check in.Have a great holiday.

Hello, this is my 1st post on this forum.

We are going to PP from Gatwick on 20th May. We are getting a bit anxious as we also booked the PT and got told we were being moved due to room occupancy (which now appears to be a lie and more due to it being CLOSED!) We've had our flight changed from mid afternoon (which suited us) to early morning and found out the PT will be closed.

We have e-mailed FC to dind out waht facilities will be on offer as we booked this holiday for the "Village experiance" NOT "1/2 a Village"! We are used to being in resorts with plenty of facilities within walking distance. So thought this complex would be ok due to its wide range of facilities to explore and make up for the resort being quite.

At the time of booking ( a year ago!) we were looking at two resorts this one and one in Furteventura with 24 hour all-inclusive. We choose the PT as we thought it would be nice to try Turkey and the idea of a Holiday Village seemed ideal. Now it looks like it might only be half of what we thought was on offer, I feel rather cheated. I can't imagine going to somewhere like Butlins and then them closing down half of the facilities you were expecting.

Anyones else feeling let down by FC and worried everyone will be crammed into one half of the complex?

I recently cancelled my holiday to PP as was told PT was going to be closed including the pools and didnt want to sit looking at them not being able to use them! I have spent a further £600 to change to another resort. So if anyone knows whether or not the pools at PT are open or not please let me know. If they do decide to open them now I will be happy for all of you but I for one will be going back to FC for compensation as I cancelled my booking because I was told ALL the facilities at PT would be closed.

Sue, Ooops  I've just spoken to first choice who have confirmed to me that the Pools at the Tropical and the Spa Gardens will all be open. ( I phoned 0845 600 4945) I did have to let it ring for about 15 mins before I got an answer mind you.

I would be right on the phone if I was you!

Well according to my local "FC" shop I have nothing to worry about!!!!! They have had no notification of any changes regarding bed size or the fact that any facilities will be closed ... in fact as far as they were concerned there was no information regarding PT being closed and they could "assure" me that I had in fact only been moved from PT to PP because of room size!
Oh dear me ..... who do i believe? You guys or them? No contest really! Im on the phone to that number Scottishmum gave but yes its just ringing!
Just as well Im really excited about this holiday really or id be going grey!
Scottishmum you go a few days before me I think so illl look forward to you posting when you get there telling us all we have nothing to worry about! lol!

Hiya Lousie
if you look on the Fc website and put in any dates before July 17th (i think) you will see the tropical is definitly closed and if you go through for the palace and do as if you are making a booking it will bring up a box to tell you the Tropical will be shut.

Have just got through to FC. They say there is no Manager to talk to but insist Yes the Tropical is definitely shut. Have been told the spa gardens are open to walk around but whether the pools are open or not they will not be operational! Dont know what to believe now. Can anyone else help? I need to know whether to take this further.
