I've got a strange mad desire to purchase a "pukka" belly dancer's outfit (have the belly for it) ................. actually I lived in Egypt when I was aged 3 - 6 (father working on telecoms) and it was my party piece to do belly dancing, and I was bought a book/kit for Christmas (I think hubby as some alteria motive though!).
Anyone seen where to get a good buy?
Am going to Nabqa Bay.
THANKS
K
going to sharm in july with the kids can anyone let me know if there is any designer shops there as you all know what teenagers are like
I didn't see any Designer shops in Naama Bay, although there were a lot of shops! They were mostly jewellery. picture and bag/shoe shops! The bags were designery but nothing like the varied amount you can get in Turkey! I'm used to paying aroun £10 in Turkey for a Designer bag and in Namma Bay they were after £20-£30 for one!
Hope this helps.
Does anybody know if there is any copies? I am travelling to shamel shiek and was wandering and to be on the look out to see if there are copies of well known brands. E.G gucci , louis vuitton
Only in Bags and Shoes, There werent many clothes shops there. They were also looking at £20-£30 for a bag, which I though was quite expensive as I get loads of stuff when I go to Turkey and for half the price.
Can anyone tell me what the best buys in sharm?
My wife is planning a spending spree, and wants to know how much space to leave in the suitcases!!!!!
Going Coral Sea 1st September, 2 weeks.
Thanks
Steve
I bought back wall hanging rugs which we liked very much whilst out in Cairo a few years ago, there was only one shop i found that had millions of them all around his shop, but we were in here hours because he wanted all his oppos to show us every one. We bought 4 and they were very cheap compared to Cairos prices.
I bought several pieces of jewellery from good shops in Naama Bay.
You can buy spices and such like, but if you want the real thing get it from 'Old Sharm'. We got our tea etc from there although the restaurant owner from Spaghettismo ventured out there for us and got us loads of stuff.
Tradional costumes are gorgouus although i wouldnt wear one, pretty all the same.
There is a lot of tat there as well, shop around for best prices, leather is good as well.
I need to know is there a good shopping trip where i can buy the named brands. like lacoste/ hugo boss, diesal etc
thanks lee
Mmm... might be struggling there. There were some nice bag shops but to be honest I dont know how 'good' they were. I wouldnt say Egypt is the place to shop for brand named goods. Best quality stuff I saw was in the Hard Rock cafe shop...
Not that much choice either. There was a kipling shop, but think this may have been damaged recently.
Is that apple pies mr kipling ha ha
Had to send another reply that was not sent in jest as to what has taken place over in sharm dont want to offend anyone
Is there any decent shops in Sharm, or is it all the usual tourist rubbish?
can you buy fake goods like in Turkey and asia
example.. I bought my hubby a pair of adidas trainers in blue and white for £30 instead of £60 in TK Maxx in the UK... when the guy at teh adidas shop saw them he offered him 1000 egyptian pounds for them... as they are quality 1 shoes. a lot of branded goods are quality 2 and 3, like the Nike outlets here in the UK.
There are sunglasses shops, benetton and sports, but they aren't cheap.
Handbags etc are just starting to be copied . If you take an egyptian with you, he will take comission behind your back, so best on your own! Haggle hard!
This is the 1st time i have been on holiday and only spent on tacky gifts.
we are going to egypt for the first time in october could anyone advice us -can you buy fake designer clothes etc we are used to going to turkey-is the shopping similar-do you have to haggle-we are going to sharm-thanks
Dont bother with Naama Bay, it is soo expensively overpriced and sells cack stuff. Old Sharm is cheaper and the shopkeepers haggle, naama bay the shopkeepers dont tend to haggle as we stupid English tourists are silly enough to pay over the odds. Best bet is to find an Egyptian (waiter at hotel you can trust) pay him around 100LE (around a weeks wages, a tenner to us) and take him to Old Sharm to barter for you, he will get much better prices than we could. If you stay at the Kirosiez, ask to be put in touch with Saad (local taxi driver) he will take you there and back and barter for you, he will also stop shopkeepers pestering you, give him 200le and that will include your taxi fare, well worth it. You can really trust Saad and he loves English people and will treat you with respect, we have actually arranged for him to collect us from the airport in December. The only bit of Old Sharm i didnt like is that the town smells.
i didnt say daisies, i cack, i didnt realise this was an offensive word, it is actually Welsh derived from Cach, which means crap etc. The only daisies you will find in Naama Bay are the ladyboys who works in Hard Rock and Kiroseiz Hotel.... can you not change this statement to read sells rubbish instead of daisies? i mean this is really misleading to any daisy buyers/collecters.....
What do you mean ladyboys in Hardrock??????? I have a friend who works there.....
