I would love to be able to go to some of the events in the Olympics. Unfortunately, although the tickets are apparently reasonably priced, the accommodation prices are ridiculous. A work colleague has a friend whose one bedroom flat overlooks the main stadium . It will be rented out over the period of the games, at a price of just over £1000 a week

The olympic stadium is only 10/15 minutes from me and we will be heading out . I should imagine London will be in chaos over that time and I'd sooner go off on holiday while it's on . I have in my head it will be during August anyway .Is that right .

Helen you could always volunteer to look after our house & cat.

I suspect for most people in the UK this will be on a par with the Millenium Dome.

Joe's thoughts about flight prices being higher are probably true, and it occurs to me that some airlines may reduce services at regional airports to get more European visitors into London. And not just airlines, it is already known that Eurostar and Southeastern Trains Hi-Speed services will be altered to suit the games (Stratford station on the HS1 route was specifically designed for this).

I don't live in London and I'm staying put. My name is going into the hat for 2 tickets for the mens 100 metre final. I will think about accommodation if I am successful (fat chance). Either that, or it's going to be a very long day!!!
If I am not lucky I will be glued to the TV whenever athletics is showing
