My wife would'nt touch it with a bargepole, but I love it and iv'e drunk it all over India, and yes, it goes down very well on long train journeys. Alan

I bought a box of 40 masala chai tea bags in Tesco yesterday - I prefer mine with milk rather than black. With all the spices it contains I am certain it is good for the metabolism and it makes a change from ordinary tea. I like it
......, what is chai ?
Why do you think we Brits call tea - char?
It's one of the dozens of words that have been borrowed from Hindi and assimilated into the English language.
For example bungalow, jodhpurs, blighty etc.......
Here's a question for you - what is the origin of "blighty?"
Something to do with hindi or Urdu word Bilayati meaning foreign.....referred to as Blighty which was slang word used by British troops in WW1 ???
could it be the word blighty was what the soliders prayed for so they could get home and get treated.?
The Hindu word blighty means STRANGER.

As in builders that ran out of bricks on a house and foreman says " well, bungalow roof on it then"
In Australia a bungalow is a shack or shed,my sister -inlaw lives in a 1 storey house
Iv'e also heard that builders term for bungalow, and also it's use to describe a well endowed but stupid man
Could also have been the samosa man! We used to get the most wonderful vegetable samosa - still hot. Mmmmmmm!
Having asked if anybody likes chai and it appears quite a few people do, I would now like to know if anybody actually likes goan sausage? It is the only food in Goa that I have eaten and would never eat again!
Can you actually get a decent fry up in goa
Call me shallow but after reading about "the piggy loos" I vowed not to touch any pork products whilst in Goa!
Never tried them, don't fancy that at all and I'm quite adventurous. After seeing them at markets all hanging in the sun, fat melting and full of who knows what... ehm.... no.
Did like the eggs though. Something I never eat in UK but would have for lunch a few times.... egg and chips with REAL potatoes cooked from scratch in high quality peanut oil! Delicious!
I had the true Goan sausage a few years back cooked on Palolem beach by a local, they were gorgeous, very similar to choritzo. The sausages served at breakfast are not the same type of spicey sausage, they don't look so good!!
Goan sausages, made in the UK, can be bought from
