Goodness knows! We have had plenty of unanawered emails in betweeen times. It could be that we threatned legal action at the beginning of last week, although they have not been bothered by that particularly. They know that even if we did go down that path they would proabably have refunded us by then anyway. The last email I had today said they had refunded up to the 16th Aug - funny that last week it was the 15th Aug!! So I emailed back and said nearly 2 weeks to get one day further ! She replied and said we had sooo many chqs to write it had taken longer than anticipated!!!! I wrote back and said Longer Than Anticiaped!!!!! A Year!!!! You couldn't make it up!!!!
They say all August departures will be paid out end of July to Middle of August.This is unbelievable because I only rang them on the 10th May and was told Middle of July. I asked them why every promised date keeps jumping 4 weeks and was assured it would not happen again.So here we are again with another 4 week extension.
Many thanks for that. I too have had an email today saying the same thing. I emailed them last week and of course got no response so I did so again today and just received the letter (no other comments attached!). I agree this is just terrible, I am having to wait for that money before I can even think about a holiday for this year. When it does arrive I will be writing a letter of compalint to them just to vent my anger !!

We are writing to advise you of an update concerning your GoldTrail claim
We have now issued cheques for August departures and these will be passed to our Accounts
Department by the end of June for authorisation. If your departure date was within this month we
anticipate that you will receive your cheque by the end of July/ beginning of August.
The cheques for departures in September should then be received by late August/ early September. For
departures of October onwards, the estimated refund date will be mid to late November.
We do appreciate your patience in this matter but do ask that you refrain from any non-urgent contact as
this will impact on our ability to process the claims as quickly as possible.

WELL DONE!!! That's great news. No news for us yet, am I right in thinking your travel date was early August last year? Ours was the 19th so I just wondered how near we must be to our refund! I will call them tomorrow and see if I can get any clear answers. Wish me luck!!

Just a quick note to say I emailed XXXXXX and she replied saying it would be with us by the end of August! So I called - she had just gone to lunch (2.50pm) and would call back!! No she did not call back. I called again just after 4pm and again she was busy (!!) but this time did call back. She told me she could only send chqs out on a Thursday and a Tuesday upto a certain amount each week and could not bring mine forward - although the chq has been written (for goodness sake just put it in an envelope!) and will be sent out to us on the 9th August! She was very sure they had done all they can in the situation and totally understood everyones frustration but that was that. I did say my piece but it did me no favours at all. So I will let you know by the 10th August if we have received it!

Yes it was 2010. I said to her I had proof that plenty of people had received chqs a lot earlier than this for travel around our dates, but she was adamant that this was not the case!!!! Thank goodness it is nearly over. We have had an email from her in the last couple of days saying it would be put in the post of the 9th August, I never want to speak to her or A1 Travel again!!!!
Guess what I am still waiting was told that I would get my payment depending on date of travel. mine was due to be 26th Aug 2010, a gentleman who was due to fly the 30th Aug 2010 has received his cheque so XXXXXX so much for your promise that it would go on departure date, 11 months and 2 weeks and I am still waiting, A1 you suck and are a joke of a company, My friends who booked the same holiday through travel republic all received their payments back the 1st week of December 2010. I booked with A1 instead of Travel republic to save £30.00, GOD HUGE MISTAKE FOR THE SAKE OF £30.
Will never use A1 again and will continue to rubbish their name and what they dont stand for (a1). Pay me NOW!!!!!!!!!
Yes still waiting too, the lovely XXXXXX promised ours would be in the post yesterday but no sign of it today and also no response from an email I sent yesterday asking her to confirm that it would be sent out first class post last night! The whole place is a joke, I can't believe the way they have treated customers and I never ever want to have anything to do with them ever again. I will let you know if our chq turns up this week (ha ha!).
I threatened them with taking legal advice.Have you tried this it worked for me.
Question. The refunds are from ATOL. Are they releasing the funds in stages which are then distributed by A1, or has the money already been paid over to them and they are paying out when they get around to it?
I have read elsewhere that other companies paid out for Goldtrail within 13 weeks I think it was. It just seems to be A1 who are dragging their feet.
The reason form question is this. If they have the money and are dragging it out then people need to complain to ATOL. I appreciate that there can be a delay between getting the money and getting it to the customer but, in my opinion there is another problem here. IF and I say IF they have the money is it ring fenced? If they should go down what would happen then? Would all the people still waiting become creditors all over again. In my opinion if they have the money already and are dragging the thing out they should be paying interest.
Guess what no cheque received today either. Just rang XXXXXX (urghh!!) and had a slanging match over the phone about how mine was due to be sent this week but her MANAGING DIRECTOR had put a hold on all further money this week!!!!!!!! Although she did say some had gone out - smaller amounts to mine!!! I told her others had had refunds later than my departure date and she told me that was not true and I needed to give her names !!!!!!!!! WHAT LOVELY CUSTOMER SUPPORT. She couldn't gurantee when mine would be sent possibly next week but would not give me a date as I would hold her too it!!!! WHAT A JOKE! I have threatned her with legal action and she basically just said go on then! My fear is that with the failure of holidays4u they are now in the process of those claims too - ATOL can do nothing as it is a year ago and as far as they are concerned it is closed to them. ANY ideas! anyone got any clout?
